JBL just released their "Mark II" update to the LSR 305/308. Is it worth upgrading? Would love to see a comparison between this and the originals.

Good speakers are still good even if there is a new version. I would try and pick up the original 305's if they are cheaper than the new ones.

What's new? Sound-wise, it looks like they replaced the low-end EQ switch with this new "Boundary EQ" thing (-3 dB, -1.5dB, 0dB - no more boost). They also added a separate HF trim switch for EQ (-2 dB, 0, +2 dB).

Also, they took the ugliest part of the industrial design (glossy ring), and made the entire front glossy!

The screws are gone from the front too, interestingly.

the glossy front ensures proper reflection and presentation of the brightness of a recording /s

in all seriousness they really do look terrible compared to the older line.
