Hello everyone. what is the address of the wallet? Where can attempts be made to insert the private key?

I feel like this is a private key.

Go to their website and do some digging on their preferences. :)

Need more hints from op.

level 1

Note the number 0001 at the bottom of the puzzle. This number is not in the white pages. If you use BIP 39 Wordlist, the first mnemonic word is - ABILITY.

level 2

"P < 0.001" - Section 11 of the whitepaper. Punctuation is removed by the wordcloud.

level 3

OK. Thank you. Then the first word is ONE. 1 next to "try", matches the color, angle and font size.

There was another puzzle which in my opinion was loads of fun. It was made by Zd3n and was for the Codex Protocol. It has been solved now, though. :)

Recovered 40 wallets. When you finish? Who knows?

level 2
redditor for 4 weeks
2 points · 3 months ago

No you didn’t recover 40, you made 40...the wallets you’re seeing with 0 are brand new, no-one has touched or generated them before.

You can make a new wallet with literally any 12/16/24 words as long as the checksum is right.

level 3
1 point · 3 months ago · edited 3 months ago

I use it: https://blockchain.info/en/wallet/#/help it is not possible to open a new wallet. I used more than 1000 combinations of permutation of words that are in BIP39 and in the area of the puzzle disk. The result restored 60 wallets. Balance = 0

level 4
redditor for 4 weeks
3 points · 3 months ago

You have a fundamental misunderstanding of how BIP39 works, it creates deterministic wallets... the seed words create a private key. You can go here and just click 'generate' and it will generate you random, correct seed words that you can then import into whatever you want (blockchain.info, your own wallet, whatever) and it will show you zero balance because no-one has generated your seedwords before.

A wallet is never 'opened' or 'closed' it literally just gives you a private key. Any BIP39 words can generate you a private key as long as the checksum is correct (which is why it will tell you some are wrong)

Any Bitcoin wallet has no idea if the wallet has been used before, just generated or whatever. All the words give you is a private key

OP has not created 60+ wallets, you aren't restoring OP's wallets, you're just getting private keys that may or may not have been used/generated before.

level 5

There are two mnemonic seed consisting of the same words. The first gives the right to restore the wallet and the second is not. I rearranged the last two words. And how does the checksum work? Try creating a wallet with the last phrase...!

level 6
redditor for 4 weeks
1 point · 3 months ago

The last word is a checksum, seriously look up BIP39 because it’s all in there. Some won’t work, some will, but these wallets haven’t been ‘opened’ it’s just because the checksum is correct....

level 7

You want to say that all the wallets are in the system? Like a pair of mnemonic seed and private key.

level 8
redditor for 4 weeks
1 point · 3 months ago

They’re deterministic, there is no system. Any wallets that have the correct checksum to create a private key will create one

level 9

How then blockchain.info opens a new wallets? If there is no criterion to determine whether it is a new or old wallet? In other words, I opened a new wallet and after a while it was transferred to another person...?

level 10
redditor for 4 weeks
1 point · 3 months ago

Blockchain.info generates the private key from the seed words you put in, then gives you access to the wallet. Blockchain.info has no idea if it’s new or old, just does what you tell it to do.

But why was it transferred to another person?? That shouldn’t happen...

level 4
redditor for 4 weeks
1 point · 3 months ago

My point is you are creating wallets, not restoring them... I can put 12 words right here right now, as long as they are valid BIP39 words and match the checksum it will create a wallet for you with zero balance.

level 2

you'll see BTC in the wallet

level 3

you'll see BTC in the wallet

I see. balance = 0 BTC. all wallets. I think it's a hoax....!

level 4

you don't have the right one

level 5

Are you sure this exists?

level 6

nobody can be sure of anything but....

I do know that there are enough words in that "puzzle" that people might stumble upon "other-peoples-wallets" and then "steal" the BTC inside - which is criminal of course

*edit for clarity

level 7
1 point · 3 months ago

You do know that it will not happen during your lifetime tho?

Even if everybody reading this sub test a new wallet each second it will not happen... this is the basis of crypto, you can not randomly find a wallet someone else randomly generated unless they used flawed method to generate it...

level 7

Stumbling upon someone else wallet hahaha. Sad that only people that still comment on this thread are total morons.

level 7

You're right. Therefore, the one who came up with this puzzle should give some guarantee that everything is honest. He's quiet... Who opened these 40 + wallets?

Crypto Greetings said that there are some consolation prizes hidden in the picture. Yet we only have one wallet address? Makes me think its something other than seed words.

There are three ways to access the funds: 1. need to have wallet ID and password, 2. private key, 3. mnemonic seed.

My friend

I see you are upset

With these wallets, it is so that every competent BIP39 generates a new wallet

Check:

https://iancoleman.io/bip39/#english

But every new wallet is empty.

Today I opened 9 wallets from the words from the image and they were all empty.

If you have 100% correct words, set a different order and check in BIP39

If it's correct, try it, but you probably know it ?

Regards

and I wish you 1 BTC

Fox

level 3

Changing order of words isn't the way, because checking all possible combinations of 12 words isn't possible in human lifetime. You are supposed to know the exact order from the picture.

Hi,
I was also sure that I found the key of 12 words matching with BIP39:

From 1 - 12

/ way / race / provide / use / cash / network / express / reveal / online / end / process / work /

A green-red line made based on the interpretation of the hint

Picture here:

The wallet has opened with a balance of 0, - BTC

Maybe I can lead someone to a better concept

level 2

Explain why you have 1 word - WAY, 6 word - NETWORK, and so on?

Look at the picture

http://goedhartvoordieren.nl/?page=user/Fox_Fckbankscoin/comments/8q2dsd/a_new_idea/

From point X / house / to infinity ∞ all words that are marked with a green line.

Words who are not in BIP39 deleted

I came to the end and then the other way, from point X

As in the hint: "{Bonus clue: To triumph, one must look within. To infinity, and beyond. When you are close to home, X marks the spot."

Maybe you better understand this ?

level 4

Hi. You are not using the Try+1 hint. Using this hint, I selected 50 mnemonic seed combinations. These are the same words in different combinations. As a result, I got access to 8 wallets with a balance = 0. I use the link: https: / / blockchain.info/en/wallet/# / help [Recovery Funds]. If it worked differently I would have opened 50 wallets.

level 4

I don't think anyone should definitively count the infinity comment as a bonus clue. It could've also been deleted because it misleading.

level 1

I have a question to cryptogreetings. 6 word - TRUST or MUST? I don't think that would be a significant clue!

level 1

Hi. I want to share information. When restoring access to the wallet using a mnemonic seed, the previous owner of the wallet does not know that he lost funds! He doesn't receive any messages on his e-mail or phone. The whole history of the transaction restores immediately. Today restored 8 wallets! Balance = 0

Could you give me that seed?

level 3

Could you give me that seed?

I can't. because the key will become clear

level 1

I think that people should investigate by themselves (that's part of the fun) but there are so many posts that are repeating incorrect information that I want to help a little bit. The following information is simplified and may contain errors, if you want the full technical details read the BIPs

The Address: If an address starts with a 3 it only means it's using the BIP13 P2SH address format. The original purpose was to be able to send BTC to a redeemScript using a short address BIP16. One special case of a redeemScript is multisignature transactions. SegWit BIP141 also uses this format for P2WPKH-nested-in-P2SH and P2WSH-nested-in-P2SH addresses. The only way to know which case it is, is by looking at the transactions from that address. There are no outgoing transactions from the current prize address but there is one from the previous one 3CcxyPhyvyc3S9UuPfu42GNZLvVVV11Uk8, in there you can see that the previous address was P2WPKH-nested-in-P2SH. Although technically the new one could be different I think it's reasonable to assume is of the same type unless there is evidence of the contrary. To check transaction details you can go to https://blockchain.info/rawtx/2ace579f68059dfd8e4b467d98cd866385798c34a1a2263b0e6613045b86c8d8 or better to https://blockchain.info/tx/2ace579f68059dfd8e4b467d98cd866385798c34a1a2263b0e6613045b86c8d8?format=hex and paste the code in http://chainquery.com/bitcoin-api/decoderawtransaction

Private Key Generation: Now, to spend the BTC you need the private key related to the public key. Technically that is just a number and it could be generated in different ways but a strong possibility in this case is that it has to do with the BIP39 words in the picture, if it is using BIP39 that suggests that is also using BIP32 for generating HD wallets. Since HD wallets can have multiple levels, the BIP43 standarized a purpose level and BIP44 is a specific case of BIP43 with more levels. BIP49 is basically a copy of BIP44 but for P2WPH-nested-in-P2SH addresses so it has a different purpose number to be intentionally incompatible with BIP44 wallets. The site https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ also has a BIP141 tab, the BIP32 and BIP141 tabs generate the same private and public keys for the same derivation path, they just encode the addresses differently. All of this is to say that you can't get the purpose number only from the address but BIP49 sounds promising.

Words: Assuming that the solution to the puzzle is a mnemonic sentence using BIP39 words, the sentence can have 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21 or 24 words. For every 3 words there is a bit of checksum so for 3 random BIP39 words you have a 1/2 chance that the sentence is valid, for 12 (4 bits of checksum) the chance is 1/16. If the sentence is valid it is converted (using a passphrase if present) to a seed which then can be used to generate the keys using BIP32 (or other methods). Assuming the sentence has 12 words, even if you know the words but not the order, those are around 12!/16 valid sentences (if you are not using the full BIP39 dictionary the number can be different depending on the distribution of the words).

Picture:

  • There are 116 BIP39 words in total and 50 inside the circle, always including capitalized words.

  • The frequency to size of the words match (mostly) if you use the version of the whitepaper in http://git.dhimmel.com/bitcoin-whitepaper/, convert it to text and split (add spaces to) some formulas.

  • The font for most of the text is "Work Sans" and the lambda symbol uses "Apple SD Gothic Neo" but I don't know the font for the "FULLWIDTH EQUALS SIGN" and the .notdef glyph.

But we must clarify something here, that I have seen that nobody has taken into account. Unless I'm wrong, they can correct me. When a user creates a wallet in this case in blockchain, it is the same system that chooses the words that will be the seed to retrieve the private key, the user does not choose the words, so the system may place some found in the whitepaper but you can also place several that are not inside the WP, so you must also take into account the words that are not related to the document. If my argument is not valid, they can correct me.

level 2

While it's generally frowned upon, you can pick your own words for a seed phase.

level 1

F

level 1

Hi. I was restoring access to the wallet using a mnemonic seed of 12 words on Blockchain.info All 12 words are taken from the puzzle and each word has a logical justification. Chance is completely excluded. Mnemonic seed is created by the blockchain system and is associated with all addresses of your wallet and cannot be changed. When you restore access to the wallet using mnemonic seed, the system creates a new wallet and transfers all transactions and addresses from the old wallet to it. It is impossible to create a new wallet from invented words. Who's not sure can try.....:- ) When I got access to the puzzle balance wallet = 0 BTC and no transactions. I look forward to hearing from cryptogreetings to clarify this.

level 4

Much more than that, there's over 100 word so you can generate new wallet for the rest of your life if you want... crypto puzzle are the best :)

level 4

All valid mnemonic seeds gives you access to a wallet. The vast majority of wallets don't belong to anyone and have a balance of 0 because nobody has sent money to that wallet before.

In a 12 word seed there are 4 checksum bits, so on average every 16th 12 word seed you try will be a wallet. They are not rare.

In your words there is no logical chain associated with the puzzle and this should be present. My words are different from yours. But you are right that these words also work. Then the solution to the puzzle is to sort out a lot of options for words - this is nonsense for fools.

level 8

Of course, my seeds are just generated by a program so they make no sense. But the point I was trying to make is that just because you found a seed that is logically coherent and fits in with puzzle clues, it doesn't mean that the seed is the correct one. There are probably many valid seeds that make sense from a human perspective, but you have to find the exact one that OP selected.

u/cryptogreetings It would be great if you could clarify something about the clues. I do believe the community is confused. The change in prize address with the -1 clue conflicts with the +1. Yet you said "it won't affect your progress" and all clues still valid.

Are the +1 -1 related or separate clues? Are both +1 and -1 valid clues? Are all clues in picture still valid or does the -1 negate the picture clues?

And can this be solved using ian colemans bip39 online tool? ( I understand if you can't answer this one.)

I really appreciate the puzzle. It is great. Probably put more time into it than a bitcoin is worth now, but I love the challenge and it's a great workout for the brain. Thanks 😊

Nice, thank you. He is clear in that post. That might make it a bit easier. Although another one of the posts on that site says "the solution (key) is contained within"

I hope its not a private key. To many possibilities. If it's a private key i expect it to take a long time.

What's more confusing and possibly sending people after red herrings are the comments that weren't labelled as clues but not denied as such.

I totally agree. I have thought about that a lot. Only 3 of the things cryptogreetings said were labeled as clues

Hi. I solved the puzzle, typed in a 12-word phrase, and got access to wallet. In this wallet the balance is 0 BTC...! What to do next? Is it cheating? I reported it cryptogreetings he didn't answer!!!!!!

You can create a wallet with any valid mnemonic seed phrase, but if it's not the exact mnemonic seed phrase that cryptogreetings chose, this would result in the creation of a completely unrelated wallet.

level 3

try it, you will not have enough life....:-)

level 3

I didn't create a new wallet. I rebuilt an existing wallet from 12 words mnemonic seed. Each word has a logical justification in the picture of the puzzle. This is not a coincidence!

level 4

Yes it is, you created a new wallet.

Public addresses in Bitcoin can start with a 1 or 3. The most common is to see addresses with 1. The addresses with 3 at the beginning are multi-signature payments. A multi-signature payment has two or more private keys and all must sign the payment that you want to make to release the balance of a public key. That is, we have a public key with two or more keys to release the bitcoin. starts at 3 ... Who tells me something encouraging?

To all my haters and kinder souls,

I'm still working on this puzzle, but I have some life stuff to take care of. I'm getting my surgery details lined up now, thanks to the anon donor who read the reason I was looking to split the pot to this Reddit puzzle but instead gave me a donation for my life saving surgery. Thus, I'll be gone for a couple days or so from Reddit, as I have to secure the cashing-out process to pay this surgery bill -- unless I talk my oral surgeon into taking BitCoin ;-) that would be awesome in saving on fees.

Until then, good luck to all the hunters here!

Still, this would be very upsetting if this puzzle thus far was based upon the wrong image lol!

20020801 Theory

Ok so after some thinking I have a preety good idea about what 20020801 is.Here's how I got to my conclusion:

What is 00212121?

Ok so everybody should know the 00212121 clue by now,but what does it mean?

If you look at the context of the reply you will notice that OP replied to this comment :"I cant find 20020801 on paper. Maybe is a clue" with 00212121.I believe that 00212121 can be written as a sum of binary numbers like this:00111111 + 00101010.If you take these numbers and you convert them from binary to text you will get "?*".

The way you can look at it is that the guy who made that comment forgot to put a question mark at the end of "Maybe is a clue" and OP simply replied "?*"(you forgot the question mark).

20020801,19981101,02003501

Ok so because of that reply we can consider that 20020801 is also a sum of binary numbers after that rule.In this picture we can also find the number 19981101 in the bottom right AND if we take all the q values q=020,q=035,q=01 and we combine them we get a third number 02003501 also ending in 01.You might wonder why 02003501 and not 03502001,well that's because this way it matches the structure of the other numbers and in the picture there's a z=35 between q=020,q=01,suggesting 035 is in the middle.

So now let's break them into binary numbers ordering them like this:02003501,19981101,20020801:

01001101 01001100 00001100 00000100 00000100

11111101 01110000 01110000 01110000 01110000 01110000 01110000 01110000 01100000

10010101 10010100 00000100 00000100 00000100 00000100 00000100 00000100

What we have now are 22 binary numbers.

Entropy values

So at first i thought maybe these are steps to get the order of the words but after some experimenting i found something preety interesting.

If you look here: https://iancoleman.io/bip39/ you can generate bip39 seeds using entropy. Now,for entropy we can use binary numbers. This is where the perspective changes. We no longer have 22*8 bit binary numbers, now we can look at it as 176 entropy bits.

With these numbers we can generate this 15 word mnemonic seed: army cage dismiss thought alpha deal scrub asthma gauge protect absurd amount doctor acoustic bean(with 3 words /32 bits)

So what is this seed?

So in my opinion this seed can be used for two things:

1)It's part of the consolation prize

OP mentioned there are some consolation prizes hidden in the puzzle, but I tried it with some common derivation paths and it didn't work. But maybe we also need to find out the derivation path?

2)It's an incomplete 24 word seed

So this seed might also be used for the word indexes. We might be able to pair the word indexes from this seed with words from the picture to find out the order of the 1 BTC seed. But,we only have 15 words so for this to be true it means some bits are still missing from the entropy and must be found in the picture.I got this idea from the "code easily, attack early" clue because I have a list of words that has code and attack in it but not easily and early which are paired with them,so it might be a start.

Oh and by the way the number 257 is a word index in the 15 word seed.

So this is preety much all I got this far.You can find my theory on the list of words in my other comment. Keep in mind that english is not my first language so I might sound weird in some places.

Also, shameless donation address,if this helps you:

So you're pretty sure it might be 24 and not a 12 word seed then? Hmmmmmmm ... I put the p's and q's hunch on the back burner since it involved math but I'll try my best to mull over what you got to the best of my lacking math ability. Thanks for updating everyone here :-)

level 3
1 point · 3 months ago · edited 3 months ago

Trust me I tried a lot with the p, q theory and it was going nowhere.

No problem, I believe that if we don't share theories we are going nowhere. Maybe my ideas are completely wrong but this way people might suggest things or get inspired to take a different approach.

level 1

Does anyone know a site or program to put all the words Bip39 and combine in seed of 12 or 24 words to be able to test the valid combinations?

level 3

thank you! but I have no idea how to run this script. =/

level 4

Download and install Python 3.6+, clone the project, enter the project directory in your hard drive, shift right-click in the file explorer window, select open powershell window here, type python, then in the interpreter type:

from btctools.HD import check
check('my super awesome mnemonic here')

you will get True if it is valid or False if invalid

level 5

I just wanted some program to organize the words. Example: put 50 words and organize it in lines of 12 words without repetition. and just that the seed test I do by another mechanism.

I just wanted to organize the bip39 words that exist in the image and then separate the valid Seeds

bip32 allows repetition

level 6

This should be pretty easy to do in Python but there are 120 billion 12 word combinations from a 50 word pool. And each combination has 480 million possible word orders so you can't do that.

There are hunters here that have scripts for you to run on a CPU. But if such a website exists they would be generous in that they would be donating all that processing and electricity for people running such wallet search matches to seeds lol (unless they script it to run on the client side, which over the web that would become insanely slow). If anyone knows of such a charitable website, please let us all know! Otherwise, people who have access to running programs on a CPU will have to do so. All I have is my phone

If it's a segwit address why are some people suggesting to look at derived path m/49'/0'/0'/0/0. From https://iancoleman.io/bip39/, it's derived path starts at m/0/0. Segwit address is Bip141. I'm 100% percent this puzzle address is segwit. I look at it's previous address, they are all segwit. I used this website http://segwitchecker.com/

Correct me if I am wrong but an address starting with 3 is not always a m/49/...derivation path (multisig). Per https://bitcoincore.org/en/segwit_wallet_dev/ it is indicated « Until a P2SH-P2WPKH UTXO is spent and the redeemScript is exposed, a P2SH-P2WPKH address is indistinguishable from a non-segwit P2SH address (such as a non-segwit multi-signature address) ». Maybe that was the reason that the btc was moved to a new address, to spend it and be able to look at the redeemscript. Anybody familiar with redeemscripts could look at it?

level 2

Go to https://blockchain.info/tx/2ace579f68059dfd8e4b467d98cd866385798c34a1a2263b0e6613045b86c8d8?show_adv=false

and click at the bottom right corner show script and coinbase, All the valid signature previous owner and redeem script are contained inside input script. I don't have time to dig on how it looks but the only way to verify the given address is segwit is through redeems script. The quickest way to check whether the given address is segwit or not is from here http://segwitchecker.com/. You need to look for a ways to execute input script of a current transaction with previous transaction output script.

I've been looking through Crypto Greeting's website for clues. Their gift cards have wallet qr codes so you can load up btc on them. In the instructions of how to get the btc out of the card they suggest Bread or Copay wallets which ask for a 12 word seed to restore. I think this could be a good reason to believe that this puzzle is a 12 word seed.

https://www.cryptogreetings.com/pages/instructions

STEP 3: Download a compatible wallet that supports Importing Private Keys. For Bitcoin, we recommend Bread or Copay. Follow setup instructions if you are using it for the first time.

Yes, we could be wrong but if they're marketing a new business of crypto gift cards why use a different system for this?

I gave a fellow hunter this list, they ran it to get various combos in BIP39 and BIP49 -- none seem to generate the address to the prize. So to save everyone time these were the words that failed as a combination (in no particular order):

  • network

  • process

  • since

  • know

  • model

  • able

  • problem

  • next

  • power

  • size

  • place

  • add

That image concerns the search for the solution of the puzzle with a practical sense and is the approach that I have adopted, I hope my thesis can be confirmed when the 12 or 24 words will be revived, but it can also be the solution will come from a Lara Croft approach that I see many are adopting.

With a spiral you can easily sort the words and read very interesting phrases, following the path formed by the numbers from 0 to 12 (-1) present in the image, I mean, I suppose that the solution hides along the straight lines and curves of the golden rectangle , but I do not understand where to find the "X", but the absence of "technical" information makes the game not fun for me, that is, it is not enough to find words, we must also know if 12 or 24 if bip49 or bip141 and other things quite technical.

Testing the solution here every time >>> https://iancoleman.io/bip39/#english

I also made artistic deviations when I had already abandoned the search for the enigma. => https://imgur.com/Wzl5tLZ

I'm still failing to grasp what led you to the very idea of golden ratio being even present in this puzzle in any form? (Also failing to grasp what "Lara Croft approach" is, but not that interested in that.)
