"One project in isolation can create a product to disrupt an industry, but by working together we can create a framework that will change the world." -Jun Hasegawa
Honestly one of the best quotes regarding the crypto space so far :)
Best news i've seen all day.
I had a thought about this. These small teams have awesome ideas, if only they'd team up with other teams and form an alliance.
This is such a powerful quote
OMG is one hell of a solid project
Been holding it for a while now. Hope to see some good progress in 2018
They have a highly successful payment processing business that they are focused on porting over to the OMG division, also incredibly supportive of the ETH ecosystem, more so than most other projects with the exception of those listed above that they just partnered with (maybe missing FunFair). Just an overall professional group and great to have on board.
Amazing team-arguably the best in all of crypto. Plasma is almost ready and OMG will be first on plasma-happening this year. Staking happening this year. At least $30 billion of existing business will generate tx fees from day 1. Have consistently met or exceeded every milestone in the roadmap. Strong community. Strong engagement of community
"Amazing team-arguably the best in all of crypto" is something I surely haven't ever heard before. Thanks for the heads up!
Amazing team-arguably the best in all of crypto
-- Michael Scott
One of the best teams in crypto? What previous success do the founders have? Brendan Eich and his team are far stronger and more experienced.
First of all, I said “arguably one of the best teams in crypto”, and there certainly is an argument to be made on that. Secondly, let’s just say, for arguments sake, that you are correct about Eich and his team. That still means the OMG team is one of the best in crypto. Also, the OMG team is not limited to only the founders. As for past success, I suggest you do some research on a little company name Omise. Also, the advisors to OMG are second to none. Add it all up and you have one of the best teams in crypto. BOOM.
I've looked into the team and it seems the advisors are definitely reputable and experienced. However, the core management team lists only 5 inexperienced people on their website and one of the 5 is a special advisor. As for VB being an advisor, its easy to see why when you consider Jun was one of the first people to provide a financial backing for ethereum early on. It does concern me that OMG is worth 1.8 Billion in marketcap without a working product.
Joseph Poon - that alone is enough for me.
lol, did you? really?
Really wish I opted for a stack of OMG when I was debating OMG vs nano
Still pretty early in the grand scheme of things.
OMG will have their Waltonchain moment very soon. The founder himself wanted organic growth and that's what we're getting. OMG is one of my buy and forget coins and happy to be invested in such an awesome project.
It really is so solid. I had shitty fomo about the nano rebrand and binance listing and regret it big time now. At least my ICX/V$N are rebounding a bit.
I was sketched out about Bitgrail and was regretting not pulling the trigger last year when XRB was still less than $3 but obviously it worked out. I did FOMO into Nano at 128K SATs a few days after hitting Binance thinking I got a bargain before the whole BG drama. I took a loss and sold at 100K SATs sensing a continued downtrend and added to my OMG stack which so far has worked out. However I would not count out Nano. Great team and tech (can't say the same for the reddit community. The BG drama certainly brought out the ugliness in people who wanted to see Nano fail just because they lost their coins) its just going through some issues right now which will eventually fade out. However even when I bought Nano I wasn't expecting it to touch anywhere near its ATH as the price may have been manipulated from being exclusively on a couple small shitty exchanges but I do see Nano continuing to grow.
Yeah I do too. I was FUDded out when I messaged one of the team members that did an AMA and I asked why is nano getting hacked and manipulated more than other coins. I asked if it was coincidence or if it was nano being susceptible? Their response didn't make me feel good at all when they said that as the price skyrocketed upwards they got on shit exchanges that they shouldn't have. It seems silly but that was enough for me.
Do you think its still a good time to get WTC?
WTC, OMG, NEO, V-coin are the blue chip coins of crypto and IMO, always safe to buy. Although you should add during dips. They may not give you the sexy 5-10x growth in a short period of time since they have already grown exponencially but they hold up very well during turbulent markets and you can expect them to continue to grow steadily. They will at times explode and give you a nice 30-40% rise in a short period of time if great news hits.
*I know I am missing a lot of other coins like BAT, WAVES, SYS, QTUM but I'm only speaking of coins that I have held for a significant amount of time
NEO and OMG held their value quite well during the crash.
Yep. Most people store their NEO and OMG in wallets so for a pretty high MC, its hard to buy a lot of coins at once which is a great sign.
the hell is v-coin?
Oh I forgot that we can't mention the name here.
I thought he meant vertcoin and I was like, Uhm, I don't think that's blue chip
Yeh haha same here- we need a solid codeword for the coin that shall never be named.... Maybe SVEN? its Swedish cousin
I have the first 3 of your list ;P my other 2 are factom and Ark. I'm not wanting to day trade and am wanting long term hold coins. My goal is to pay off my student loans. That's my moon lol no lambos for me!
NEO was released a year before OMG
A lot of people, admittedly including myself, either sold out or trimmed their position once the roadmap came out last October and were disappointed to see that all major checkpoints on the roadmap (including the public SDK wallet release which many originally thought to be coming in Q4 2017) were in 2018. Back in October, Q1 2018 felt like years away especially in crypto but that time has come. There is a reason why A LOT of crypto taste makers and youtube influencers peg 2018 to be a big year for OMG. My opinion is shared by many but as always do your own DD. After selling over 1/2 my position (no regrets since they went into V-coin and ICX both which have mooned for me) I started to rebuy in Dec and haven't stopped since.

Absolutely anything under $40 is a great deal imo. Main net launch end of Q1 or early Q2 I think you still have time to invest.
thanks. I've been back and forth between WTC and ENJ. THink I'm going to go with WTC as a less risky, long term hodl.
Another +1 for wtc. Great option
WTC is about as safe as it gets in the crypto world, really solid team and partnerships. The team never shills and tends to under promise and over deliver. I also hold ENJ which I see a lot of potential in but definitely a more risky hold than WTC.
What do you mean by waltonchain moment? If you're talking about price growth, zoom back on the charts, OMG has grown a huge amount
I've been in OMG since early August so I am aware of its $ growth but we are still significantly short of its ATH in SAT value from last Oct, which to me is the true value indicator since much of the $ growth was due to BTC parabolic rise. WTC, literally continued to shit the bed in SAT value during the most epic alt bull run of Dec-mid January only to explode all on its own in late January and finally breaking its SAT ATH of 180K from last October to hit 380K. Even though I had long sold my WTC it was awesome to see patience for many of the Waltonians finally pay off.
While OMG has had its moment, at its current price of 176K SATS, its still far short of the 290K SATS (which would be around $29 today at $10,000 BTC) reached last October.
I think its only amount of time where we set an ATH in SAT value breaking the $30 mark assuming BTC stays above $10K.
Yesterday I said fuck it and sold all my nanos and bought OMG. I think I made the right choice. It's sad though, I still believe in nano and I wish all this bitgrail shit wouldn't have taken it down. If I make some gains from OMG in the near future I might take some and reinvest on nano.
I agree. Love nano. But there's so much FUD that I can't see myself confidently holding it versus my other coins. When I say FUD I mean I have legit FUD about it. I'm going back to getting bigger positions in V$N,ICX and now possibly OMG. I want to wait for OMG to dip a little first. Maybe on the next correction.
IMO anything under $14 for OMG is a bargain, I wouldnt be surprised at all if its 4x that in a few months
my first 6 months i had anywhere upto 25 coins, half of them fairly short plays.... i felt like a god with the gains i was making, but it didnt have much to do with my decision making, the growth in BTC and ETH was driving it giving me a false confidence. It basically didnt get me very far- i didnt lose big time but i didnt have any massive wins either (due to not acting on the down turn). Now (apart from some small holdings that arent worth trading or talking about) 75% of my portfolio is NEO OMG (put a lot of time into reading up and choosing these two in particular) and ARK, the rest is split between ZRX COSS REQ and ENG and are also hodl's. I actually sold my ICX and sVEN this week at a bit of a loss, and spent it on padding out my NEO and OMG at good prices. I really do value the less is more approach these days. I can easily see a $60 OMG in the next few months and think NEO is doing all the right things to be a major player next to ETH
Really wish I didn't sell my OMG for ETC when it was pumping earlier this week.
I bought OMG at $15, $20 and $23. I think you're fine if you buy now.
OMG will conservatively be around $40 by mid year. It is still cheap
Omisego is mindboggling
Wish they would Actually deliver something so far everything is speculation
Patience my friend!
Of course I sold right before this announcement
I've been in OMG since I started investing in crypto a few months shy from a year ago. Love what their trying to do, great news for us token holders!
OMG launched last summer
ETF me please
A decentralized, digital "New Deal" I love it!
Great but OMG doesn't have a working product...
Oh my god
You clearly didn't even bother reading past the title of the post. They are creating a fund that will financially support projects that will help develop the infrastructure.
Take 5 minutes of your time to read the article. It will be worth your time. https://www.ethnews.com/ecosystem-players-launch-ethereum-community-fund-grant-program?platform=hootsuite
Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin said that the ECF will accelerate the development of structure that Ethereum needs in order to thrive. "Ethereum has grown beyond my expectations over the last few years, but the work is clearly not finished. Delivering value that matches the hype should be the mantra of 2018; efforts such as the ECF which help organize the development of the ecosystem are going to help to make that possible."
The collective projects believe that the best way to achieve this goal is by creating the "Infrastructure Grant program," which would financially support individuals and organizations, enabling them to build "crucial open-source infrastructure, tooling, and applications."
