I'm sorry but why the hell was this post locked for controversy?

It's 92% upvoted and had sensible comments inside without much drama. Is it just one mod on r/cryptocurrency that is doing this? That makes no sense and is super fishy. Can someone clarify?

Original Poster21 points · 6 months ago

The lock actions are automatically performed by automod if there are reports and we have manually review it now

- some mod in a PM to me when I asked about it earlier, in a different case

If that's the case, awesome

RFID hardware design is done, mainnet launch is planned for late Q1 or early Q2. One big partnership is still under wraps. More exchanges are coming. One of the best teams in crypto.

Am I a shill or is it all true? DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH.

All people have to do is do their own research to learn how strong this project is right now. Doesn't even need shilling honestly.

And now they're connected with 140 different major companies. They can start announcing new partnerships on a biweekly basis at this point lol

I've always appreciated the Walton team for being professional and reserved. They do not hype things up at all and let their work and their partnerships speak for itself.

However, it's great to see them clearing things up to skeptics, concluding that they do have a formal agreement with the IoT alliance that includes names from many countries, from Japanese Softbank to SK Telecom to China Telecom.

It's amazing to see them with such a great partnership, and I hope WaltonChain continues to advance the RFID, IoT, and blockchain fields alongside others such as VeChain. Yes, I hope they all succeed alongside each other and spread the tech and blockchain to more fields and markets.

So much FUD on Twitter. Every fricking time. It's like sports. Some people hate Walton. All Walton news is fake news because they aren't on Walton team.

Guys, the world is VERY large, and monopolies are bad. Competition is good. Everyone can make money if everyone puts the work in. One big family.

its really weird...at the start yeah when this sub was filled with WTC and half the sub hated that till that massive spike from winning the Jiang(hope its this one) award,...but ever since then a lot of respect was shown for WTC...till recently. A lot of newer people may not even know what WTC is, what it did and why it was considered so good and only consider VEN because that was the one making some news during Nov-December

I admit as a newcomer, who is also deep in ven (and seen my port burst because of this ) I am stupidly unaware of WTC. Since they both seem to be mentioned in the same breath so damn often, I'm making myself research WTC tommorow, and if I like what I'm seeing, I'm rearranging my portfolio to give WTC a spot amongst my two other big holds (Ven and ICX). I like putting my money in coins with tangible partnerships, and tangible tech. It seems I'm missing out on WTC.

Definitely do your own research - go to the all in one thread in the waltonchain subreddit to start, lots of good info. I want you to feel good about investing in it, not just because of shills. I strongly believe if more people knew about WTC it would be a top 20 coin easily.

Well said my friend

If I may ask, Softbank made partnership with which coin?

Altcoiner
13 points · 6 months ago

Walton is partnering with China Telecom's IoT Alliance, which consists of the Bridge Alliance that SoftBank is part of.

The team saw the FUD and put it to rest, great job! Such a professional team that has continued to push this project to the next level. Keep up the great work!

The Walton team is way too humble for Westerners to comprehend. They express themselves only in honorifics (which their translator seems to port right over into English), while in America it's more common to speak in superlatives. So their modesty gets interpreted as weakness.

I've said this time and time again, but the only thing you need to understand that WaltonChain is "big league" is a quick glance at their team page.

Everything blockchain does can be accomplished through traditional means. What the blockchain achieves is a secure, decentralised and trustless network.

Original Poster22 points · 6 months ago

Their whitepaper explains the purpose of the currency. It's primarily for proof-of-stake and because they need a way to let "child chains" communicate and exchange tokens with each other.

Wording was kind of sloppy due to the language barrier, I can see why people thought they were still in negotiations. Although it was fairly clear if you read the whole thing - I guess most people just read the headers lol.

From an external perspective you'd want to see the partnership announced on both sides. Don't forget you were intimately familiar with the trustworthiness of the Waltonchain team when this came out. Glad it's all getting cleared up now.

Understood, communication needs to be made clearer from the get-go to prevent this in future. Appreciate the feedback!

11 points · 6 months ago

Why not question it? The only news has come from WTC themselves, and not a peep from the telecoms. Same can be said for VEN with partnerships only being reported by them. I like both projects, and hold both, but you have to question everything.

Exactly question everything, especially when it comes to using your own wealth to invest in something. The issue is that when things get reasonable scrutiny and questions, they get confirmed using viable sources but people still have unreasonable sketicism because it just so happens that it's a coin/project they didn't invest in so they feel like they're missing out. They use FUD to make themselves feel better about not having the forsight to invest in a project that has immense potential.

  1. The RFID is patented and not a normal RFID chip. It is the only RFID that acts as a node on the blockchain and that is also capable of reading and writing to the blockchain. They have memory, long life, and cost pennies. They will enable customizable and programmable configurations that can be set at factory and sold to customer directly. The RFID is used for attaching to other nodes, but it can also track and communicate other information which is then written to the blockchain. That isn't something that can just be replicated.

  2. Opt in not necessary and this does far more than communicate location. Can communicate many other things which are then broadcast to network and written to the chain. This is huge, and allows for chips in many many things far beyond phones. This is so much bigger than phones. This allows for customizable child chains for each company, product line, or set of products.

  3. Yo, I think your tinfoil hat is peaking out a little there.... yes. We just dumping for Ven. Lol. This guy.

Comment deleted6 months ago(0 children)
  1. Alot. Dude. Just... ugh. Research more about the functionality of the RFID. It's not JUST an RFID. This is a new chip that haaas RFID and ALSO acts as a node on the blockchain, with memory, read/write functionality, and other diagnostic and communication features.

  2. SMH. See above. It's not about tracking usage of software (it can probably be used for that too...) but also as part of inventory management and other diagnostic functions. It may be able to track heat, battery, and other sensors and record them to blockchain for hardware diagnostics.

  3. I know how markets work. People are going to be making money, but they aren't dumping bags, they are accumulating. I've been watching whales accumulate for months. Putting in huge sell walls and dumping prices down for weeks at a time, buying up cheaper waltons, and laughing all the way. If this were a shitcoin, people wouldn't be manipulating so hard.

Anyway. Good luck. Have fun. Enjoy your FUD and ignorance. I been in since $1.20 And don't planning on selling until $1200.

We don't know details of these "partnerships" from either of the projects. So the evidence certainly isn't there.. yet. Everything is speculation so far, including your so called "evidence".

"I think this is actually bad news"... because it wasn't VEN that announced it?

"The technology already exists on every cell phone, so any other blockchain can swoop in and utilize this same technique." Here’s where Waltonchain comes in. They have developed NB-IoT communication technology that is featured with low power consumption, long transmission distance, and high stability.

"What problem does this solve?" At the recent Global IoT Summit 2017, Waltonchain won the Outstanding Product Award for their Smart Waste Management System. Waltonchain’s Smart Waste Management system is set to be implemented through mobile communication networks, and China Mobile is the largest one. Waltonchain will use this adaptation through wireless communication services to advance their smart cities projects. Waltonchain could be connecting every mobile phone to create a true internet of things.

"My strong suspicion is that this is a coordinated hype campaign by heavy WTC bagholders. In the WTC pump, they will be trading their bags for VEN, as this is the last chance to get a decent exchange rate for VEN." What technological advantage VEN does have over WTC? Walton posts have been hyped for awhile around here, and VEN posts couldn't gain traction until the last month or so, when the price went from about $.50 to $7, so I'm guessing there's a ton more VEN bagholders of late.

I've held both since September and your post just reeks of VEN fanboyism.

Comment deleted6 months ago(0 children)

Average smartphone lifespan, 2 years. Walton roadmap will be completed in about 2 years.

"And again, can you rebut my position that nobody in hell is going to agree to be part of this blockchain that permanently, immutably, and irreversibly records the time, location, and transaction history of the user, while linking it to your cell phone number and identification?" You mean all those agreements people sign all the time without reading? What do you think happens now with all this data that cell phone companies collect?

Comment deleted6 months ago(0 children)

I'm saying it's already happening, do you think cell phone companies aren't collecting this information already?

I also like how you ignored my question asking what technological advantage VEN has over WTC, and since you didn't dispute my VEN bagholders comment, that must mean you agree because I'm guessing you're one based on your posting history about Vechain starting in the middle of the pump.

Do you really think that because information is on a blockchain, that it isn't secure and has to be public? Oh man...

Original Poster13 points · 6 months ago

Excellent points... I mean, they would be if you weren't fighting a giant strawman.

China Mobile isn't a phone manufacturer, they're a carrier and they obviously have an interest in advancing the internet of things. WaltonChain is developing something called the "value IoT" and their R&D partnership with the China Mobile IoT Alliance gives them an excellent position to introduce this VIOT to the devices being developed under the umbrella of this huge alliance. Think smart cities, where everything communicates with everything. Storing this data in a blockchain is just a way to make it impossible to spoof.

Comment deleted6 months ago(0 children)
Original Poster22 points · 6 months ago

Why the fuck do you keep talking about phones? Do you even know what a smart city is? Do you know what the IoT is?

How the fuck do you arrive at the conclusion that people's private photos will be stored in the blockchain?

You sound completely insane.

Comment deleted6 months ago(0 children)
Original Poster10 points · 6 months ago

We weren't talking about that article. Did you have to bring it up to keep fighting strawmen?

Again, China Mobile is a phone carrier. They run the network. That network can also be used by IoT devices, which in a smart city range from traffic lights to dumpsters. Literally no one is talking about your private photos.

Projects with true value will always win out in the long term guys. Try not to get sucked into hype trains like TRX. Walton has a history of delivering. Congrats to the team!

Walton, Vechain, Factom, ETH, NEO. Noobs you want these blue chips of crypto working with real companies in your portfolio, yes they're more expensive than the shitty shit coin for 5 cents you hope to get 100x on but they will help you survive a bubble.

This is pretty big news for the crypto scene as a whole. It’s great to see WTC are getting their foot into the mainstream, the IoT alliance is a great step in the right direction for practical worldwide use.

China Mobile is the largest mobile telecommunications service in the world as well as the largest total mobile phones operator by total number of subscribers (870m subscribers as of August 2017 statistics).

Connecting the dots further, China Mobile and AT&T signed an agreement to deploy an IoT initiative to grow the number of connected devices on their network and to develop a platform to simply their supply chain. All 3 are now part of the same IoT alliance.

WTC is making serious moves with MASSIVE market cap companies - China Mobile with 260bn respectfully.

Don't forget that with their relatively low market cap, 25-30 bucks is still a steal. It has a LOT of room to grow.

It has a LOT of room to grow.

You forgot it will be top 10 coin in 2018 /s

Fans of almost every crypto including Verge and Tron say this shit. Walton is way better than shit coins but this line triggers me so hard now.

Verge and Tron are near the top of the marketcap list. If/when WTC is Top 25 I won't be saying that anymore.

Mentioning wtc in the same sentence as tron and verge does wtc injustice.

Such great news for Crypto adoption as a whole

China Mobile is MASSIVE. This is the biggest partnership so far in 2018 in my opinion - if anyone can think of a bigger partnership tell me.

Redditor for 9 months.
3 points · 6 months ago

This isn't a partnership with China Mobile. China Mobile and the Iot alliance are different things. Joining the alliance is obviously a great thing and creates contacts with a lot of other companies but the are a couple of hundred companies in the alliance and membership does not imply any specific deals between any pair of them.

I hold VeChain among a bunch of other coins but I'd like to hold Walton as well. You'd be able to persuade me to take the plunge if you could link me a source for a partnership with any of the members of the IoT alliance. If this really does involve a business deal with China Mobile that would be immense but every time I've asked for some indication that it does I have either been met with silence or called a shill.

[deleted]
4 points · 6 months ago

It is not my fault that you dont understand that these companies in the alliance are working together.

With this deal Waltonchain has access to the Bridge Alliance (Google is your friend)

Redditor for 9 months.
0 points · 6 months ago

The companies in the alliance include competitors. The fact that they are working together to develop industry standards, which is the announced goal of the alliance, does not by itself imply they are working together in terms of deals between the companies themselves.

More than 140 leading companies and research institutions on Internet of Things (IoT) have joined the alliance, which is engaged in creating an industrial system of research and development, production, certification, testing, training and services for MIoT.

ZTE, Huawei, China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom are among the members.

ZTE and Huawei are competitors, as are China Mobile and China Unicom, so it's clear that just being in the alliance does not mean a full-fledged tie up with all the other members. But if there is some reason to think that Walton is doing something more than just joining, and is actually going to be doing business with specific members of the alliance I really want to read about it.

[deleted]

Redditor for 9 months.

Does that mean you don't have any evidence? It's not a big ask for just one link that supports your claims. If the claims are assumptions about what might be the case rather than statements about what is the case, it's fine to just say that.

[deleted]
3 points · 6 months ago · edited 6 months ago

Not that does just mean you dont understand what this deal means. Like I said you will understand in time. Not everbody can be a cryptopro from the start, but hey dont give up.

If you really think an alliance consists of competitors, then i dont have any more words for you. They can be competitors in the real world but in the alliance they are united and all of them will use WTC RFID chips.

Its not like we gonna use a centralized API like Vechain. You should first read about your Investments before you talk about others.

Shillers gonna shill. I am out

If you really think an alliance consists of competitors

Huawei and ZTE aren't competitors? You realise that this is an alliance for developing standardization across the industry, right? Of course competitors will be involved. That's how it works. You get all the involved parties together and they agree industry standards to allow compatability and interoperability.

They can be competitors in the real world but in the alliance they are united and all of them will use WTC RFID chips.

You realise there are other RFiD producers in the alliance as well?
