Being an OpTic fan right now is the craziest ride of emotions that I've ever been on

level 2
Fnatic Fanatic24 points · 3 months ago

I mean you are allowed to just stop supporting a team under these circumstances, it's not like it is unjustifiable. If Fnatic kicked all their players and added 5 completely random players I wouldn't think twice about disabling my flair.

Have you supported OpTic since the prime days of Stanislaw? It must be rough though being a true fan before the split happened.

level 3
OpTic Gaming Fan23 points · 3 months ago

I've supported the OpTic organization and brand for 5+ years since I played CoD a lot when I was younger and I've followed them into every game they've entered since. CSGO, Dota, LoL, OW etc. Not as simple as packing my loyalty away and shipping it to another team/org unfortunately lol

level 4
OpTic Gaming Fan7 points · 3 months ago

100% its like if i left OpTic as a fan i wouldnt know how to follow another team.

Honest question: Why? It's just a company.

In my mind it would always be the actual team that's the deciding factor. If some organization bought the Astralis players then that would be my favorite team no questions asked. I don't get it...

Except for the awesome color scheme of optic.. They got that goin for them.

level 5
Death Sentence3 points · 3 months ago

Sometimes the org is competent and communicates clearly and consistently with the fan base. For example, G2 is a org that is constantly reaching out to fans. Even if they switch teams they would still have many followers because it’s easy to follow them and the storylines the org creates, like OpTic for OP.

level 4

I agree with this. Seeing the CoD team situation is truly heartbreaking. Im gonna follow Formal, Crim, Seth, and Damon at this point. With this ORG going to complete shit, im gonna follow the players instead. Not like im not following hector, it's not like its his org anyways

level 4
Fnatic Fanatic2 points · 3 months ago

Yeah I can understand that. I can imagine how you and all other long time fans must've had quite the sour taste in your mouth when Stan left out of nowhere.

But hey, maybe support C9 a little on the side as they have Tarik and Rush ya know!

level 5

It's a bit odd to me that people support brands honestly. They can drop their entire team in a month and sign a new team in 6 months. How can anyone claim to be a fan of them after such a move? What is there to be a fan of at that point? The logo? The name?

If I supported Dignitas when it was a Danish team and they then let the entire team go and hired 5 Italians instead, I'd stop being a fan of them. Not because there's anything wrong with the team doing that but because I was a fan of the team (players) and the way they played the game, and now they've left so of course I'm not going to remain a fan of someone I may not even know. It's not like a CS:GO org is my town's local side or whatever like you may get in sports..

level 4
OpTic Gaming Fan2 points · 3 months ago

Most OpTic fans support multiple OpTic teams and/or content creators.

level 5
5 Year Subreddit Veteran3 points · 3 months ago

Would there be anything wrong with supporting Optic in <Insert Game> and another org in <Insert Another Game> though? Surely it's the players on Optic teams that you enjoy watching, enjoy following etc. and not the org, the staff or the logo/name?

level 6
OpTic Gaming Fan1 point · 3 months ago

Theres not, but for CS I loved the ELeague S2 team. But since they split they all went separate ways so I just stuck with them.

level 4
Cloud9 Fan1 point · 3 months ago

What is there to be a fan of at that point? The logo? The name?

Yes and yes.

I'm gonna be a Cloud9 fan forever, no matter what happens with their rosters.

If they took 5 random players and put them together I would still support Cloud9.

level 5
Fnatic Fanatic3 points · 3 months ago

What if Ska, Auti, Tarik, Rush and FNS went to, say, Rogue and C9 created a random mediocre team. Would you cheer for Rogue or C9 if they played against each other?

It's an interesting discussion either way.

level 6
Cloud9 Fan1 point · 3 months ago

Like I said, I'm fan of the org.

If Cloud9 did the move from your comment, I would be sad and pissed but I would support the org.

I think with an organization like Optic where their history stretches from a COD dominant era, the age range of kids to teenagers who supported Nadeshot & Hecz still support them today. COD was a little different from CS:GO because streaming wasn’t a blown up business where you chose to support players. You chose a brand and things you enjoyed content wise & Optics youtube content was far superior of any other orgs at the time.

it was already the roster they initially wanted according to rumours however the buyouts were at the time too high.

level 4

I think it was the roster locks that did it - Heroic prob would’t let jugi and snappi go without having time to get new players. Meanwhile OG had to get the first and best players thet could find

level 3
Team Liquid Fan2 points · 3 months ago

it won't because they have to grind through premier in EU which is actually pretty hard to do.

level 4
OpTic Gaming Fan3 points · 3 months ago

This is the reason. Nobody wants to play a season of premier in eu and then maybe make epl. And ecs is even harder. No org would risk that.

Possibly losing Karma and Formal. No news about their cs team will be good enough to overlook their cod team right now.

level 3
MIBR Fan5 points · 3 months ago

I haven’t followed cod in a few years, how have they been doing? And why are karma and formal leaving?

Also, I’m surprised they’re still together to begin with. That’s a long ass time for a cod team to not change rosters.

level 4
4 points · 3 months ago

Core of crim, karma, formal and scump, during three years that they played together became greatest roster to ever play COD, they won around 60% of all tournaments and finally last year they won COD champs solidifyng their legacy. Expectations for their’s team this year were that they would win every tournament and they struggled a lot this year not winning any out of 6 tournaments, obviously with that and considering all players on OG are born winers and want to win, they are likely to split up. There are some behind the scenes reason aswell but i don’t wanna get into that.

level 4
4 points · 3 months ago

Yeah cs roster changes are water compared to cod roster changes.

level 4
Astralis Fan2 points · 3 months ago

Basically what sare3 said. This roster is he greatest lineup of all time and haven’t won anything in WW2. I haven’t watched a lot but I follow the players of OG on Twitter. They are just really disappointed. Crim and Karma are two of the most competitive people I’ve ever seen play comp cod or any other game imo and they hate losing so this extended losing streak does not bode well with them.

Two talented players who can improve with more experience in Jugi and Gade, Cajunb a veteran who can be a supportive hybrid, k0nfig who can have incredible aim, and Snappi who has managed to make past Heroic lineups get upsets despite having weaker lineups than most. Holy shit this is so good!

level 1
FaZe Clan Fan12 points · 3 months ago

So will they play in na or eu?

level 2
5 Year Subreddit Veteran3 points · 3 months ago

It's honestly weird to me that there's no clear requirements to nationality (or "regionality") when it comes to esports. I can understand "combining" NA and SA since there's barely a scene in SA at all, but it's ridiculous to have entirely European teams playing NA, or entirely Korean SC2 teams or whatever.

It's also bad for the local scenes, as it makes it damn near impossible for NA talent to make it if orgs can just sign entire European teams. It's not like the esport scenes in the world are swimming in actual NA talent as it is, so making it even harder for the talents to break through seems stupid.

level 3
FaZe Clan Fan1 point · 3 months ago

It's no different than European athletes playing in NA leagues, or South Americans/Caribbeans playing in MLB.

level 4
5 Year Subreddit Veteran1 point · 3 months ago

Yes it is, because it's often the entire team in esports. I don't think an entirely Korean SC2 team, LoL team or whatever should be allowed to be "bought" by a NA or European org and compete in one of those regions. I think there should be a "Must have at least three players from the region they play in." rule or something like that when it comes to CS:GO so most of the team is always from the region the team plays in. I don't mind Cloud9 or whatever getting a French player for example but if the entire Cloud9 team ends up being French, I think they should have to play in EU.

level 2

Just a little bit of info, according to Chet the team will finish out the season in NA and most likely play esl pro league finals with the new roster when they qualify (if they beat dignitas they clinch tonight) and will make the move to full time EU next season. At least that’s what I was led to believe. Hope I helped

I can't see any possible world in which this doesn't make OpTic the second best Danish team. Hopefully this pushes North to make some radical changes to their squad, there's so much talent in Denmark that it's worth taking a gamble on some younger stars.

level 2

To be honest though, there's not that much left is there? Stavn is the only really good player that comes to mind and he himself isn't proven against tier 1 teams yet.

level 3
8 points · 3 months ago

Well, since heroic seems to be loosing their 2 most valuable players anyway, maybe it would be pretty easy to persuade either rubino, niko or es3tag to go to north and help them get back to the top instead of starting all over with hunden (he seems to be hinting something on twitter) and some up-and-come'er on heroic. It's been said many times before, but North should just stop trying to make Aizy work like he did in 2014 and move on.

level 4

Getting someone like es3tag or an up-and-comer to replace even aizy is exactly NOT what North need at the moment. They already made that gamble with the by far most interesting player in DK who wasn’t already on astralis, north or heroic in mertz- and that really hasn’t panned off this far

level 5

Agreed. Es3tag would be my last choice of the 3 mentioned. But i think niko would be a great addition as a site anchor. He has after all been playing near the top level for some time now and could bring the consistent firepower that north seems to be lacking with the up and down (mostly down) performances of aizy

level 6

Sorry for the late reply my dude - although i like niko a lot, consistent is exactly NOT what he is in my mind. He has insane highlight plays quite often, especially as train B-site anchor, but he doesn't deliver consistently and is way too often on the lower half of the scoreboard in a team that is much worse than the level that North is aiming for

level 7

Np mate.
Fair point. What/who do you think could be a solution for North then? Because they're clearly aiming to become title contenders, but with the results they have been putting up so far in 2018 they seem to be pretty far away from that goal.
Also, any thoughts on Heroic's 5th? Cadian? Acilion?

level 8

i am kinda worried for this north lineup. I really only see valde and kjaerbye as good enough for the team they are aiming to become, msl could work, but that would require 4 skilled players by his side to compensate for the lack of firepower from him. aizy is simply not good enough anymore, there really cant be doubt any longer. i had high hopes for mertz but he has gotten out-awped by any half-decent awper during his north tenure. I think the hope for this team died when optic got jugi and snappi. There simply aren't anymore danish players with the needed firepower. The only chance I see, is that they get karrigan if he is kicked from faze if their results keeps being lackluster. otherwise, I think they would need to go international - it just seems so unlikely to me that they would do that, especially with the facilities they have at Parken and their danish brand in general.

In regards to heroic - probably acillion. he didnt play with imperial yesterday, so might be the most likely replacement. on the other hand, cadian is a good friend of the heroic players and is both awper and igl, which means that they could keep es3tag. torben from fragsters is also a possibility, tho he is probably too inexperienced. inzta is also free on the market, so they could try him out.

level 3
Astralis Fan1 point · 3 months ago · edited 3 months ago

Stavn is an outlier because he's such a great fragger, but there's more to it than that. Younger players can be molded into stars when inserted into the right role, they don't necessarily need to be the best fragger on the team. It's just a matter of finding the right player to fill the role.

level 4

Just FYI: it's role not roll.

Astralis is t1, which would the other three be?

level 3

Hmm I kinda figured both North and Heroic was tier 1 times too. So with OpTic turning danish, that would be 4.

i guess it depends on what you consider tier 1, i consider tier 1 to be teams capable of winning any large tournament they play in, astralis is in that list right now, but north and heroic are laughably not.

Yup. IBP win ESEA LAN and 2nd at Faceit LAN (the equivalent of EPL and ECS finals) then bomb out of groups of Cologne '14. IBP agree to throw online game and make the biggest scandal of CS:GO history...

C9 get 2nd at 3 of the biggest LANs that year in a row, then get 4th at another international LAN, bomb out of groups of Cologne '15. seang@res leaves and clown9 era starts...

Optic win ELEAGUE, Northern Arena, 2nd at ECS finals, and quarterfinals of EPL (where they lose to the winners, c9), bomb out of groups in Atlanta. stanislaw leaves and optic cycle through players like an accelerated NIP timeline until they disband...

C9 again, top 4 at ECS finals, 2nd at Cologne '17, bomb out of groups at PGL. Shroud and n0thing end their tenure at c9 and then a top 5 team forms in the first and only all american c9 lineup who make top4 frequently and eventually win the major, until they bomb out of groups at SLTV (got the worst 3 teams to be fair), although performing well at Katowice and cs_summit, then lose to TeamOne at WESG, the first time they had ever been truly "upset" since the roster formed, and then stewie leaves...

I always see these people saying how much it sucks to be a fan of a certain team (Mouz, vp, G2, ect...), But I am almost positive that we OpTic fans have it the absolute worst.

We got completely blue balled by winning eleague season 2 and then stan leaving, and It has just been a downward spiral ever since.

We had Tarik, Rush, Naf, and Mixwell on a team without a 5th for almost half a year. Now look at all these players.

We have had 3 completely different lineups in 1 year time, and one after another they are getting worse.

Next time you watch your team and think how much it sucks to be a fan of your team just keep in mind that it completely sucks cock to be an OpTic fan.

So here's my question, as a noob: There's a timeline in which both Heroic and Optic makes it to the ESL Finals. What's gonna happen if/when this change happens?

level 2

I believe that both teams have to play out the season with their current rosters and when finals come around then optic will play with their full danish line up and heroic will play with the 4 they have left from the 6 man roster and I believe they are adding frieberg on a short term basis.

haven't watched Heroic a lot so asking this, is JUGi a dedicated AWPer? or is he like cajunb in many ways? Also is Snappi going to be the igl?

level 2
Cloud9 Fan15 points · 3 months ago

Jugi is a dedicated AWPer and is super sick. Can absolutely be the primary star of this team. Snappi will for sure be the IGL.

level 3
Astralis Fan3 points · 3 months ago

Don't you think he has some pretty tough opposition for that title? Being on the same as K0nfig and all...

level 4
Team Astralis Fan7 points · 3 months ago

Jugi and Konfig are the stars

level 5
Astralis Fan7 points · 3 months ago

I know. He said "primary". That's a stretch imo when K0nfig is there as well.

level 6
Quantum Bellator Fire Fan2 points · 3 months ago

I think it's a little like Niko and guardian actually. Star awp, star rifler

level 7
Astralis Fan3 points · 3 months ago

I completely agree with that. Not questioning Jugi at all.

level 4
Cloud9 Fan3 points · 3 months ago

Sure, yeah, but AWPers tend to be prioritized over riflers in that regard.

level 3
FaZe Clan Fan1 point · 3 months ago

ahh that's amazing then. really looking forward to this lineup now

100 Thieves Fan10 points · 3 months ago

Jugi is the second best dedicated Danish AWPer right now. Snappi will be their IGL.

He is better at fragging and IGLing.

he is a massive upgrade over stan as an igl

he is a much better IGL. Stan is not a very good igl

level 5

Stan is a fine igl, stop putting him so far down. Snappi is better with Danish talent and solidifying a system but Stan is no slouch.

level 6
G2 Esports Fan1 point · 3 months ago

he did not igl team liquid much (quickly went to nitro being igl) when he was there. He did fuck all with the Danish optic. When he was on the original line up he just used the system daps put in place and made some mid round calls along with tarik. When they got figured out there was no large changes they just became a mediocre team because they could not reinvent them selves

this was was what the optic roster was going to be but refresh would not let jugi and snappi go.

from the rushbpodcast comment under mine http://goedhartvoordieren.nl/?page=r/GlobalOffensive/comments/89z6c9/jugis_hltv_page_says_he_isnt_on_a_team/dwuk2da/

good move for optic to get a danish team as there is lot of talent in Denmark

Big fan of Jugi, quality player good pickup if it happens.

Feelsbad for Heroic tho, wonder if they even knew about that move

Snappi is one of most underrated in game leaders imo. Individually he is playing well leatly too. https://www.hltv.org/stats/players/events/922/Snappi I remember a lot of Danish pros giving him high praises.

Always thought this would be a good move if it happened. This team has the potential to be top 10 and matches against North will always be fun to watch.

I had a hard time imagining stan getting along with k0nfig as an IGL. Not only personality wise but even in the game itself you could see it. This is a way better lineup and I'm looking forward to see how they perform! (Probably very well)
