I like that he asked “as George?” Since he is actually a good singer, he had to purposely sing off key.

[–]enfrozt 319 points320 points  (34 children)

Good point, didn't realize he sung, here's a clip of that for anyone interested: https://youtu.be/bux2wzhVPUw?t=92

[–]CharredOldOakCask 94 points95 points  (27 children)

I must admit. This boosted my respect of him. Such an enjoyable video. :)

[–]mtaw 80 points81 points  (19 children)

[–]thetank211 29 points30 points  (7 children)

I was in a really shitty mood after my college's basketball team lost to our arch rival. So much so I was seriously considering not going to a friend's birthday party tonight. I'm ready now after seeing this video for the first time.

[–]R1PKEN 12 points13 points  (2 children)

You talkin about how MSU lost at home to unranked Michigan? :D If so, take solace in the fact that you guys still beat us when it actually matters

[–]AP_Stylish 6 points7 points  (1 child)

WHOA HE HAS TROUBLE WITH THE SNAP

sorry i had to

[–]TrailLand_PortBlazer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a great moment for everyone who hates Michigan, and therefore, the world

[–]TistedLogic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

McDonald's mentioned in the prior comment

arch rivals

I'll see myself out.

[–]Halogaland 38 points39 points  (2 children)

You gotta take sports less seriously man.

[–]Gnarwhalz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Eh, perhaps they do, but at the same time I don't know if it's a crime to be passionate about something.

[–]amjhwk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

holy shit, george with hair

[–]im_a_dr_not_ 5 points6 points  (2 children)

Loool

I have a feeling all commercials were like that back then

[–]sargewilco 5 points6 points  (1 child)

My theory is that the government slipped cocaine into the water supply throughout the 80s to keep everyone on their toes in case of a Russian attack. The result is nothing less than a drug-fueled blur of bizarre but upbeat advertising, amazing movies, and cartoons that should not be shown to children. It was the best of times.

[–]kickulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks obama

[–]CharredOldOakCask 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Now I want mcd.

[–]harpoonicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cheese is on the wrong side.

[–]trayfiddy 0 points1 point  (2 children)

At McDonalds in Germany it's called "Hamburger Royal TS" (with S=Salad) and it's a regular menu item. Apparently, it wasn't that popular in the US.

[–]Poxx 1 point2 points  (1 child)

But what do you call a Whopper?

[–]trayfiddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I don't go to Burger King. But we definitely don't say "le" Big Mac like the crazy Frenchies.

[–]havereddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He was channeling Meatloaf in that commercial

[–]ThisFingGuy 29 points30 points  (3 children)

He really is an extremely talented and intelligent individual. He kind of got pigeon holed by the success of Seinfeld, but if I remember correctly he had actually just come off of winning a Tony when he was cast as George.

[–]TheNorthComesWithMe 3 points4 points  (2 children)

I had no idea. He has suddenly entered my list of people who could potentially get the EGOT.

[–]amjhwk 1 point2 points  (1 child)

did he ever win an emmy on seinfeld

[–]TheNorthComesWithMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He didn't, despite 6 nominations. Probably due to Michael Richards winning 3 of them.

However he's certainly a capable enough actor to win one.

[–]collective_invective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

George has moves!

[–]The_Other_Manning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I could see him and Seth McFarlane doing a pretty cool duet

[–]BobMosby[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awesome video! "I didn't know that you sing" was hilarious at the end :D

[–]emerald_syzygy 1 point2 points  (1 child)

He was amazing in the revival of The Producers.

[–]thesewordsarefake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just realized the other day I got to see him in that as a little kid and got bummed I wasn’t able to enjoy it more.

[–]lappnisse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where is the microphone? I don't see any ear piece or overhead mic. Playback perhaps?

[–]Nickbou 29 points30 points  (8 children)

I thought he was asking if he should use the name “George” to keep it the same as the original or substitute in her name (which he did).

[–]Ezl 15 points16 points  (0 children)

No he was asking about the singing voice. Re: George, he answered his own question saying “yeah, it should be as George” but then used Kat’s name.

[–]iwonderhowlonguserna -2 points-1 points  (6 children)

Yup, that's definitely why he was asking.

[–]braille_animalia 12 points13 points  (0 children)

No, because he said “yeah, as George” but then sang it with Kat’s name but in George’s voice. It was already decided it would be a “bespoke” customized version.

You have my favorite username.

[–]radicalelation 9 points10 points  (3 children)

Wasn't the whole point to do it for Kat specifically, with her name? Otherwise, why not just keep the old one if it's the same thing?

[–]iwonderhowlonguserna 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Better quality. The one from the show is really low quality and there's a laugh track ruining it.

[–]subnu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He says "as George".

[–]Jsenpaducah 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could tell he was having to try to sing out of tune. Like, if he wasn’t concentrating enough, he would accidentally sing in tune.

[–]hellboundwithasmile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had a great bit in the Family Guy album. “All cartoons are fucking dicks”

[–]bctg106 672 points673 points  (36 children)

Hell is 1,000 women with Kat Denning's voice speaking simultaneously for eternity

[–]CemestoLuxobarge 263 points264 points  (5 children)

There was a bet between God and an angel over how terrible a voice humans would overlook if the speaker had big, soft boobs.

And that's how we got Jason Alexander.

[–]alukurd 45 points46 points  (1 child)

what a tweeeest

[–]ricklessness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tittytweeest

[–]CallOfCorgithulhu 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I can think of two big reasons why I'd put up with hearing her voice every day.

[–]cokevanillazero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Her tits right?

Is it her tits? I think it's her tits.

[–]dkyguy1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize this was the comment I came for

[–]D0DW377 50 points51 points  (6 children)

‘She sounds like a tea kettle’ -Steve Carell

[–]bctg106 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I feel like she's one of those people who cannot speak quietly either. It's like she never learned how to properly use her vocal cords so she is borderline yelling at all times.

[–]gloveshack -5 points-4 points  (3 children)

At least she can actually be funny sometimes

[–]UNC-Patriot 6 points7 points  (2 children)

Genuinely curious, can you provide an instance of this?

[–]_Face 17 points18 points  (9 children)

Also Fran drescher. Rosie Perez for bonus

[–]talontario 18 points19 points  (5 children)

Fran Drescher or Fran Fine? Two completely different voices.

[–]Joey__stalin 44 points45 points  (3 children)

i love the episode where she eats wasabi and speaks normally. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DJ8B1ek_L0

[–]sirhecsivart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That is just like how Gilbert Gottfried and Larry the Cable Guy have completely different voices off-camera.

[–]BoRamShote 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Beautician and the Beast

[–]HoboViking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She used to be married to the dude who claims he invented email.

[–]clonn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you leaving Kristen Schaal out?

[–]roborobert123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With her body, I can deal with that hell.

[–]shoobiedoobie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And heaven is a thousand women with her bosom.

[–]aerial420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually kinda like it. But then again I’m british so maybe the whole accent thing plays a role.

[–]gromtown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it is the absolute worst.

[–]duckbuttercornpone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She really needs to clear that bubble from her throat.

[–]Mikllasp 147 points148 points  (6 children)

First time hearing Kat Dennings voice. Wow...

[–]butsuon 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It's ok, there's boobs.

[–]Oriwar 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's like every movie cheerleader's voice. So annoying.

[–]tankertodd 11 points12 points  (2 children)

After years of enjoying her chest, this was the first time I heard her speak...what a let down.

[–]roborobert123 3 points4 points  (1 child)

Probably why she is in a crappy comedy show.

[–]VlK06eMBkNRo6iqf27pq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is that thing still running?

[–]Busangod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never seen her tv show, but I'm guessing she uses sign language and wears low cut tops.

[–]XiejaminBen 71 points72 points  (6 children)

[–]Just2UpvoteU 41 points42 points  (2 children)

[–]conyeighwest 20 points21 points  (0 children)

goodness, james corden is annoying

[–]horseswithnonames 43 points44 points  (13 children)

how did he just grab her phone and start recording? wouldnt you have to go into voice mail settings to record your greeting?

[–]wholesomeusername26 127 points128 points  (4 children)

All the "spontaneous" things that happen on late night TV are 100% pre planned... including this.

[–]StopDropNFrag 20 points21 points  (1 child)

Makes me miss Craig Ferguson's show.

[–]coolmandan03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every single episode when he would rip up the talking points... god i miss him

[–]Digging_For_Ostrich 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Case in point: the music was ready.

[–]tankertodd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Producers go over with the guests what stories they'll tell, and will accept/reject them.

[–]BigTowFuzz 35 points36 points  (0 children)

It had to be set up prior, how would they just have the music ready like that to play?

[–]Amphibialrabies69 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Given that they had the background music going they obviously had it ready to go.

[–]random_cunt 16 points17 points  (2 children)

he just recorded the message on the device itself.

i assume theres a way to use it as a message later, or she would somehow have to play it and record it anyway?i wasnt sure tbh

[–]marktx 7 points8 points  (1 child)

If I really really wanted to this I would..

  • Download this youtube video
  • Demux the video/audio
  • Have the section of audio I wanted ready to play
  • Call my voicemail from computer via a VOIP line
  • Go to the option that allows me to re-record my greeting
  • Playback the section of audio I wanted
  • Voila

[–]weirdal1968 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Demux the video/audio

This guy ffmpegs.

[–]throwaway_the_fourth15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

iOS doesn't allow you to use a recording made in Voice Memos as your outgoing message. You have to record in the page specifically for the outgoing message. Beyond that, the music in the recording is probably inaudible because of how quiet it is compared to his voice, which is close to the phone.

[–]noslipcondition 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And they had the music ready to play in the background.

Obviously pre-planned, the phone probably isn't even recording.

[–]FlyByTim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like they used a voice recording app, and I'm sure you can just upload that, maybe. If not, just play it on a different device while recording greeting.

[–]OfficerByrd 251 points252 points  (21 children)

I kinda can't stand James Corden.

[–]PirateCraig 165 points166 points  (7 children)

"America has him now, no take-backsies" - UK

[–]AngryCod 45 points46 points  (2 children)

[–]nateaff 29 points30 points  (0 children)

RIP CraigyFerg :(

[–]whoami9 5 points6 points  (0 children)

GENUINELY WELLING UP

[–]MonaganX 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He's a perpetually surprised man-child that has somehow lucked himself into a hosting job in a country where even fewer people know who the hell he is than his home.

[–]OBLIVIATER 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Let his marketing team know that so they'll stop posting these fucking clips to reddit. There are so many of these clips that get posted and manipulated by their marketing teams, thats why you constantly see Graham Norton, Conan, Jimmy Fallon, etc. There are people who work for the networks who's job it is to find and astroturf threads like these almost daily. They also spend tons of money to get on Youtube "trending" when the clips themselves only get a few hundred thousand views. Somehow videos that get 10s of millions of views in a day DON'T get on trending...

This is also the way these clips get to the front page despite 80% of the comments shitting on it.

[–]butt_thumper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love how he tries to act like this is some spontaneous unrehearsed moment, then the minute Alexander agrees to do it the music for the song immediately starts playing.

Wow, what a coincidence that we had this song cued up and ready to go!

I know most shows like this are at least mildly rehearsed, but most skilled showmen like Conan or Kimmel do a better job of hiding it.

[–]RochelleH 11 points12 points  (1 child)

Makes me happy to see this. I'm always dumbfounded by how often I see his stupid Karaoke videos on Facebook. I can't believe people sit through his programme. Who like this shit?

[–]SibcyRoad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom :/

[–]darklightrabbi 21 points22 points  (3 children)

“Nice and quiet guys!”

Laughs right into the phone at the first line Jason sings.

[–]DemonRaptor1 5 points6 points  (2 children)

The laugh wasn't him. It's even a female laugh.

[–]Bad_Mood_Larry 9 points10 points  (1 child)

Did you just assume the laugh's gender?

[–]acejohn 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Die meme die!

[–]cyberpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Britain's loss was America's loss also.

[–]arjunmohan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hate his talk show but will always love the dude for A league of their own cause THAT show is fuckin hilarious

[–]kclo4[🍰] 56 points57 points  (21 children)

God he must be so sick of George Costanza

[–]Nickbou 68 points69 points  (0 children)

IIRC he has mixed feelings. He’s genuinely proud of the work and grateful for the success, but after it ended it was difficult to find work (for a while) that wasn’t just “George with a different name”. Now enough time has passed and he’s done other things, so I think it’s mostly positive.

The Episode 780 of the Nerdist Podcast has him as the guest. It is really interesting and talks a bit about this.

[–]darklightrabbi 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Seinfeld money is eternal

[–]samdeed 14 points15 points  (8 children)

I'm sure he doesn't mind the royalty checks he'll be getting from syndication for the rest of his life. At least I hope he got that into his contract.

[–]SunBroPatches 21 points22 points  (1 child)

They all did but Jerry's contract is bat shit insane.

[–]shmiguel2 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Well didn't he co-create and co-write the show? Makes sense his cut would be the best.

[–]Nukkil 8 points9 points  (4 children)

The Friends cast was larger and they each get $20m a year in royalites. Can't imagine what the Seinfeld cast is getting.

[–]wildcard5 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Both these shows were before my time and while I watched both I must say that friends is more popular, at least in my country. I have literally never seen sienfeld on TV but I often see Friends reruns. So I'm assuming they get more royalties. This is, of coarse, all an assumption since I do not know exactly how royalty contracts work.

[–]Screaminthis 1 point2 points  (2 children)

In the U.S., they're both on about an equal amount.

[–]wildcard5 0 points1 point  (1 child)

In Pakistan, we have a huge Friends fanbase. We even have a Central Perk which looks almost exactly like the one on the show. But almost no one has even heard of sienfeld.

[–]Screaminthis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Seinfeld by the way.

[–]Mr_X2017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought that was why it ended. The three (non-Jerry) wanted backend action and they got noped so they noped out of it. You can sort of tell there is still a bit of animosity towards Jerry about when he says "they all agreed to end it" from interviews I've seen...

[–]Eloquium 19 points20 points  (6 children)

I'm sure he's still proud knowing that most current sitcoms are of the caliber of Kat Dennings' show

[–]amaluna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's actually not. He's super relaxed about it on twitter and stuff. Happily engages with people who want to talk about it all the time.

[–]blladnar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a whole story arc in Curb Your Enthusiasm about it.

[–]GamerDude_69 113 points114 points  (1 child)

James Cordon blows.

[–]Joey__stalin 38 points39 points  (0 children)

i find him unbearably annoying. and why does he get all involved with kat giving jason the phone? does he need to force himself into the bit?

[–]BadRabiesJudger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I miss duckman.

[–]dosireland 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Brilliant, where's her number so I can hear it??

[–]broadcasthenet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Her voice is like nails in my ears.

[–]jwccs46 19 points20 points  (1 child)

good god i can't stand kat dennings

[–]grindtolvl99 32 points33 points  (0 children)

but...boobs

[–]thrwwy426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Good thing we just happened to have the instrumentals for 'Walking on Air' queued up in this totally off-the-cuff bit. Also good thing your phone wasn't password-protected. Also good thing it doesn't take any button presses to change your voicemail message."

[–]lappnisse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know Duckman could sing

[–]thesilverpig 18 points19 points  (14 children)

I don't even care how poorly they sold, this is spontaneous, it was still good fun.

[–]Stabone130 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shot some videos with him a few years back and he's a super cool guy. Great sense of humor, was down to be ridiculous and overall a nice fella.

[–]0xD153A53 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I would rather listen to 1000 kittens being burned alive than listen to Kat Denning's voice.

[–]Hungover_Pilot -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I kinda agree with you.

[–]shiner_bock 1 point2 points  (6 children)

Stupid question: who's the blonde?

[–]audhumbla 1 point2 points  (1 child)

They are both leads in the same tv-show iirc

[–]5hootermcg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two broke girls... Iirc

[–]Katzj1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was also on Mad Men!

[–]RochelleH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone else see the latent annoyance on his face?

[–]aentropy75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a nostalgic Seinfeld fan this makes me very happy to see.

[–]mrbrojangles08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a dream come true for me

[–]pikkdogs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing to my answering machine in college. Whenever someone would leave a message they would say, “I don’t know what that was but I heard singing.”

[–]waltron1000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is she famous?

Oh wait.

[–]roborobert123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

George dyes his hair.

[–]TonyZero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seinfeld, just like I Love Lucy, is timeless.

[–]clashbuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This stuff seems low effort sometimes.

[–]paulcope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuck off James Corden.

[–]NIGHTSCOUT3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't even try to hide the shitty props. It's takes more than 1 second to access that menu.

[–]SirAgonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this the girl that tazed her boobs without a reaction?

[–]reaper-daw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this too back in the day and I sang over George’s voice... people would call me just to listen to my answering machine. They would even get disappointed if I picked up. They would say, I’m calling you again, don’t pick up, I want to hear the song

[–]sweeetttooo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See what happened when they were using phone;cctv footage https://youtu.be/dfkn3Za7BSo

[–]twtd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like he died a little inside doing that.

[–]Milliondollargame -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I remember the one year I decided to try out this Comic-con, I was hoping Seinfeld would be there. Unfortunately and weirdly enough, everyone was dressed in peculiar costumes. I must not have been in on the joke.
