I was obsessed with BLL a year ago, compulsively binge watched the whole series in a day. But I'd never gotten around to actually reading the book.

Holy shit, dude. This book is captivating. It's so much darker and scarier than the seriesitself, and I really appreciated the fact that the show went places the book didnt go and vice versa.

Such a true to form yet original adaptation. Do yourself a favor if you haven't already and devour this book in 3 days like I did.

I just recommended it to a friend and realized... "oh, they're not a woman.. will they still enjoy it? Will they just find it boring and throw it off as some 'girly' show?"

Personally I think any adult that has been in or dealt with relationships would love the honesty of this show. I love the portrayal of the different relationships and human feelings. The characters are so deep and real, the actors really bring it all to life. Their reactions towards their situations are complex and multifaceted. It's a very human show.

Any men here who loved the show a lot? Sure the main characters were women but we also dealt with the points of view of some of the men, and the issues the women dealt with I feel shouldn't just be cast aside as 'oh that's a woman problem'. Even if it isn't as commonly seen in men, I would hope men would still care to listen out and observe what happens and care about the women's problems.

Do any of you know of men who really enjoyed the show?

Don't get me wrong, I love the cast, they're all brilliantly portrayed, I'm a huge fan of Nicole Kidman's Celeste but if I had to pick after reading the book, I'd pick the following:

Celeste - Evangeline Lilly

Perry - Paul Bettany

Madeline - Constance Wu (not out of diversity or race-swapping) after reading the book, I hear her voice, she can pull off Madeline's crazy, passionate personality and can be overly caring at the same time.

Jane - Elizabeth Olsen

Renata - Anna Gunn

Bonnie - Vanessa Kirby

Mary Louise Wright - Sigourney Weaver

Taking a trip to Monterey today & tomorrow (8/6-8/7). Anyone know of hot spot locations where they might be filming season 2?

I wanted to share my song where I made a beat out of it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jXzqLbtu-6M

I actually binge-watched the show this past winter and was obsessed.. a lot of the themes hit home for me. I was also in a rut musically, but making this beat and song helped me get out of it

hope y'all enjoy!

If you are a fan and live in the LA area, they are filming tomorrow in the little downtown area.

I absolutely loved every minute of it. I got goosebumps so many times but none worse than in the finale when Perry brings down Celeste’s phone an led tells her she has a message about the apartment. His smile literally made the hair stand up on my neck. It might be my favorite single season of a show other than season 1 of True Detective. That’s all and I can’t wait for season 2!

Apologies if this has been discussed before or was immediately obvious to everyone: but upon learning that Perry raped Jane on a business trip in the finale - when rewatching i noticed how many business trips Perry goes on and how habitual this monster’s behavior was/how many lives he affected so casually.

This was so good. My husband and I just watched the whole thing. This was so crazy good. I definitely got some Broadchurch vibes (if you like this, definitely give that a watch), and I just love all of these complex characters. The entire thing feels so unique. I love it.
