Daria and Jane are the epitome of the 90's youth. It's a show that is so perfectly 90's... I just don't see how they can do a reboot and do the vibe of the show any justice. They already tried it once with Beavis and Butthead and it didn't fly. Apparently one of Amy Schumers writers is launching the new show... My expectations are super low.
What do you guys think?
What the hell is that thing around Kevin's neck? I've heard people say that it's headphones or a collar or something, but none of those sound right.
I know they always had mainstream pop, alt rock, and grunge in the background wherever they went but they seemed to listen to it pretty passively and I can't recall any instances where they really loved an artist. What do you think they actually liked, if anything?
I'm honestly not too sure what Jane would like, but Daria strikes me as a Sonic Youth fan. She seems like she would have liked Daydream Nation or something. Thoughts?
I found the restoration project and looked through the search tab of the sub for answers, but it seems that the original airings of the movies aren't publicly shared. Where can I find them?
Seriously, what were the berries Daria's family ate on their camping trip? As someone who loves the show and camps a ton this has been bugging me for a while.
Note: I swear I'm asking out of pure curiosity, I won't be picking any for my Lane family reunion.
I’m watching Daria Season 4 episode 13 “Dye! Dye! My Darling “ this is when Daria and Tom kiss for the first time behind Janes back. What did you guys think about Daria’s character development and growth up to this point in the show? and what exactly about her character grew more? Also how did this make you think about Janes and Daria’s friendship and have you noticed anything different between them since?
I am rewatching the series and this time around, Kevin has grown on me. He's pretty stupid, sure. And a goofball, but he tries his best. And his interactions with Daria are just hilarious. Daria telling Kevin to put down cross dresser in his college form where it said "who I want to be" cracked me up.
I would have loved to seen more character growth for on him. Like, Quinn learned to accept Daria as her sister in public, Stacy learned to stand up to Sandy a bit, etc.
In the movie, Jane meets a girl named Allison who tries to seduce her. There is a brief moment where Jane wonders if she is gay. While I have never felt that the show was in any way homophobic there seems to be a sense of relief when it appears as if Jane wasn't a lesbian. There is a whole "What a relief Jane isn't some lezzie freak" resolution presented that in hindsight seems disturbing now. In a way, I think it would have been interesting if Jane discovered that she was a lesbian or bi/pansexual. If anything, it could have helped a gay kid like me growing up in a conservative republican suburb at the time know that I was not alone! Your thoughts?
There’s a scene with Daria and Tom and they make a joke about Trent. I forgot the words exactly. Daria “ I really hope he makes it as a musician I don’t know any other job he could hold down.” Tom “ I don’t know you know those farmers that get paid not to grow anything?
Was that a joke?
Also there was a scene where Daria and Jane go play paint ball at the end of the episode they had Sandy chasing after the bus and it was in slow motion was that reference to something?
Also in that paint ball episode (I’m sorry I don’t know the numbers and names of each episode) Tiffany tells both Quinn and Sandy they look cute...
Also I don’t get mr demartino, I like him, but I was wondering if he was a reference to something?
And what is Sick Sad world referencing?
(These may seem like dumb question I promise you I’m not trolling I really don’t get these jokes.) thanks for reading
