I've been obsessed with Daria for years, but I just found out that, at one point, there was going to be a spin-off based around Mystik Spiral, and that they included the unproduced pilot script in the collector's box set. Does anyone have the file? I would love to read it.
I understand Is It Fall Yet? has been restored recently - any idea where I can get a copy?
Is anyone working on Is It College Yet? If not, I'd like to have a go at restoring it, but I'd need a copy of the original uncut broadcast version to work from - where can I get that?
I'm told a Myspleen invite would help, if that's possible?
Just noticed the whole series is on Hulu again. Thought I'd give everyone a heads up!
For all those interested, we are reading from the Daria reading list found here.
That being said
The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri is book 1.
Tentative plan is to start a reddit thread this upcoming Monday (June 25th), and let it run for the week where we discuss the book, how it relates to the show, etc.
I set a reading milestone of cantos 1-20 of the paradise section of The Divine Comedy, please feel free to contribute if you read more/less.
This is not set in stone. If anyone would like to choose a different day/book/how much we need to have read that is cool by me. Would just like to read with fellow Daria fans :)
Ever seen the British show House Doctor (currently on Netflix)? It's an American designer in England who helps people sell their houses with proper staging and small remodels.
She is the living embodiment of Val - as in Val. It's hilarious. To be fair, she is less ego-centric, but the way she talks, the words she uses, her voice itself, the way she talks to other people, and pretty much everything about her screams Val.
For all those interested, I was thinking we start with book 1, and work our way down.

If we wanna read Canto 1-20 of Paradise, we can have that as our discussion topic.

Ms. Janet Barch: Daria? Reinforcement?
Daria Morgendorffer: Hmm… to make a child stop crying, a mother might say, “That’s it! I’m sending you to El Paso to live with your real father.” Whenever the child gets upset, the mother might wave an airline ticket in her face, or maybe even frame it on the wall by the clown picture. The ticket stops the girl from crying, or showing any emotion… ever.
Ms. Janet Barch: Right, that’s…
Daria Morgendorffer: Years later, seeing an airplane or just hearing one fly overhead can unleash a Pandora’s Box of repressed anger, shattering the grown child’s fragile psyche and triggering a psychotic and possibly deadly episode.
Ms. Janet Barch: I like the way you think.
Stole this from tumblr, but its one of my favorite quotes from the entire show. Her concise, detailed example has always impressed me lol. Great writing.
Is there a complete Daria Wikipedia on the internet? My searches have been fruitless, except for one, but it doesn't have all of the episodes. There used to be one that was replete with a reading list of hers, as well as trivia and such for every episode, but sadly I cannot find that anymore. I apologize if I am just dumb and looking wrong
