I know this place is pretty much dead, which is unfortunate... I only discovered Happy Endings about 2 months ago, during a discussion on a post about How I Met Your Mother.
HIMYM is and probably will always be my wife and I's favorite show (I probably butchered the grammar there), and every so often I'd see Happy Endings mentioned alongside HIMYM discussion, but I never looked into it. Two months ago, I decided to ask a poster what the show was about and why people made the comparison to HIMYM. After his brief description, I figured "what's the harm in checking out an episode or two?"
It took only took 2 or 3 episodes, but my wife and I loved it. I never thought Elisha Cuthbert could be as funny as she was, and Adam Pally gained 2 new fans. Honestly, my least favorite character was Dave, who I looked at as the "main character" for most of it.
It's a shame the show got dicked around after the 3rd season and couldn't find a home - it really strikes me as one of those shows Netflix would jump on if it were cancelled in 2017 or 2018, but it must have been just too early for Netflix to gamble on, I guess.
I remember with one boyfriend she was dressed like a goth, and another boyfriend she was dressed in nurse's scrubs with a stethoscope. I'm racking my brain trying to remember the episode and I can't remember. Anyone remember?
So I'm watching the new Cobra Kai (Karate Kid sequel) series last night, and Ralph Macchio's character's wife appears for the first time: "Who the $#%* is that actress?!" I say to myself. After a few minutes of wracking my brain, I decide to check IMDB. "Courtney Henggeler." Never heard of her. Start scrolling through her appearances. Nope, no, never seen it, sounds stupid, WTH?, how do I know this woman?, I'm going cra- wait, Happy Endings? "Andrea?" OH HOLY CHRIST IT'S THE QUICKSAND GIRLDFRIEND!
Now I can't watch a scene with her in it without saying, "Uhndrea." Thanks, Happy Endings, you just broke Cobra Kai for me!
I just saw a new (to me) episode of happy endings! For some reason, I thought Shershow's wedding was the season 1 finale. I guess I missed episode 13 when it aired, and when I later downloaded the series I missed it again. It made me sooooo happy to see a new Happy Endings, I can't even describe it. But now its over and I'm sad again 8(
Whoever cancelled this amazing show deserves to live a horrible life, die a horrible death and then burn in hell for all eternity... One man's opinion.
I mean, it can't be expensive to make, and as much as I love them, I'm not sure how busy the main cast members have been. It can't be that hard to reunite them for at least 13 or so episodes every year or so.
The fan base is small and cultish, but devoted nonetheless. Were ratings really that much worse than The Mindy Project?
It says "Adam Pally stars as Max Blum in the comedy series "Happy Endings.""
Stars. He uses past tense for other credits, too. Coincidence... or HINT?
Either way, things are pretty tense.
(Cardinal was amazing, by the way. It was really cool to see Adam Pally in a much more serious role, though of course the funny moments were hilarious too. The whole play was powerful and wonderfully acted, and if you haven't seen it but find yourself in the city before the 25th, I highly encourage you to get a $20 rush ticket.)
UPDATE: When asked, less than a month ago, what he wants to do in the future, he specifically says "work with the Happy Endings guys again." So, like, if nothing else, he considers it a present tense.
