Why do you hate nonsense so much?

level 1

Do you listen to non-Christian hip-hop artists (such as Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, ect)?

Who are your top 5 Christian rappers?

level 2
Original Poster25 points · 1 month ago

I do. To learn, to critique and at times to enjoy.

I dont have an order but i love-

Flame, Trip lee, lecrae, Ty Brasel and Bizzle

level 3

Great list!

Can't wait to see what you have in store for us

level 1

Out of curiousity, Why did you burn the tomorrow we live paper in the tempo video?

level 2
Original Poster10 points · 1 month ago

Family! Great question. It literally was a coincidence. It had no meaning. The director had planned a shot of me burning something and that was the first picture I pulled up on my phone. At least thats what I think. It is possible that in my subconscious I was saying that Im entering into a new season, new sound, new passion. Certainly feel more free and less afraid of man in this Today We Rebel album as opposed to Tomorrow We live. We tried to assign meaning to it but nothing really stuck.

level 1

Would you ever collaborate with NF?

level 2
Original Poster33 points · 1 month ago

Of course. NF is a homie.

level 3

Please do it!

level 3

Opinion on him going away from being a christian rapper ("christian lyrics") to making mostly secular music? His "moments" album was filled with gospel songs but nowadays he just makes more secular rap. I'm not hating, he is actually one of my favorite rappers!

level 4

Just like Lecrae

level 5

You must not listen to Lecrae at all. They are nothing alike.

level 6

Lecrae’s Rebel album is pretty similar to most of NF’s music

level 7

Not even remotely the same. I'll listen to Rebel any time, but I won't listen to NF at all. NF just wants to talk about how awesome he is and wants you to believe in his pain. Lecrae wants you to believe in Jesus and always makes a point about how Jesus has affected his life. NF stays away from that message. He didn't always. He has a couple songs that he'll put out to try to maintain his image as a Christian rapper, but you ever notice how incredibly different those songs are from the rest of his stuff? It's like hearing Snoop try gospel out... it doesn't sound legit.

level 8

So basically, because NF doesn’t sing about religion anymore, but Lecrae does, you choose to only listen to Lecrae? Hmmm...

level 9

I'm not interested in listening to anything other than Christian rap. I don't only listen to Lecrae. There are tons of Christian rappers, and Lecrae isn't even the best. Content matters, so I don't listen to NF.

level 10

How can you say content matters when you’re literally saying you only listen to Christian rappers? So every single other non-Christian rapper sings about irrelevant rubbish? Have you even listened to anything non-Christian? Do you even know why rap became a thing in the first place? Because it has zero to do with a religious point-of-view.

level 4

You ever seen the South Park episode where they form a Christian band?

level 1

Where would you rate No Chains on your favorite songs that you have recorded, and what is your favorite song that you have recorded?

level 2
Original Poster10 points · 1 month ago

It changes all the time. Right now my favorite is "Sing to you" from Today We Rebel.

level 3

KB thank you for that song, that's my favorite on the album and it speaks so deeply and richly to my heart. The tears man!

level 3

Man thanks for the response! I really admire you! Can you please come to Mississippi some time? I know most artists hardly ever come here but it would mean the world if you came!

level 1

Who is your favorite artist to collab with?

level 2

Natalie Lauren. She's a long time friend of the family and the most talented person I know.

level 3

What about favorite producer to work with?

level 1

Maaan, I'm just tryna know, how long did it take you to grow your dreads and what hair products did you use for growth and maintenance?

level 1

Why aren’t you on tour with Lecrae and the Tribe?

level 3

I have and he hasn’t responded! Check it. I have an extra ticket want to cruise?

Temptation is easily one of my favorite songs, especially lyrically. Do you plan to make a song about the topic by yourself? I think that is something that is barely touched in christian rap and I'd love to hear you rapping about it since many young christians really struggle with sexuality.

Edit: I forgot you touched the topic in Battlefield. But what about dedicating a whole song on it similar to Temptation?

  1. Any funny or interesting stories/memories of DJ Official?

  2. Speaking of him, do you know anything about the album that he had been working on prior to his passing? From what I remember, Reach said that they were going to finish it and release it, but I haven't heard anything about it since.

  3. What's your favourite feature that you've done? Favourite feature that you've had on one of your projects?

  4. Any chance of a Natalie Lauren project being released soon, or a Native group album?

level 2
Original Poster9 points · 1 month ago
  1. I remember him telling Lecrae he needed to sign me.

  2. I think it is still in the works. I recorded a song for it that I think might have been the single. Knock on Reach's door!

  3. My verse on Crowders "Prove it"

  4. Bother her!!!! I think it should happen

Do you really believe in god or is this just something to promote your music to an audience?

level 2
Original Poster39 points · 1 month ago

Good question fam. I believe. And I believed before I promoted my music, and by God's grace I will long after.

level 2

I don't know why you're getting downvoted. You prolly didn't know KB until you saw the AMA so it's a legitimate question to ask

level 3

Yeah, but it's gonna be the same answer. Either he's going to tell us he believes in God because he genuinely believes in God, or he's going to tell us he believes in God because if he said "Well I saw God's Not Dead and realised Christians are incredibly receptive towards terrible art/media and that I could make a lot of money making Christian music," that would be all over the Christian news tomorrow and his career would be over.

level 4

Thanks for reminding me about that terrible movie.

level 2

You can listen to his song Art of Drifting, he speaks about this in it

level 1

What is your all time favorite hip hop album and also favorite non hip hop album?

level 2
Original Poster14 points · 1 month ago

Good question fam. My all time favorite hip hop album is Chh artist Flame's freshman album "Flame." Its my favorite because it changed my life. From a sonic perspective my favorites are pretty much anything from the old Kanye West. Non-Hip hop...its too much pressure to identify the goat but the Free Willy sound track was my viiiiiiiiibbbbeee!

level 1

What made you decide to do a sequel album of sorts to Tomorrow We Live with Today We Rebel?

level 1

Do you think we might be related? My last name is Burgess and I also have fam from Florida. I am your biggest fan! HGA TO THE GRAVE!

KB

level 2

"In him?" Really?

level 3

Yes really. Abide in him and he will abide in you.

level 1

If you could work with other artists on a project to support the marginalised, what would that look like?

level 2
Original Poster17 points · 1 month ago

Wow. Excellent question. Id most likely want us to do something that requires our money and our time. Bringing awareness to particular issues are so easily politicized and often quickly forgotten b/c tweets, hashtags, etc lack strategy. Awareness is good but its limited. What can not be denied is men and women who dedicate large sums of their own money (combined with the resources of their following) to organizations that have boots on ground in these places that are high risk. And I'd love to see us follow up our "treasure pledges" with dedicated time serving in those very communities. A project centered around giving and serving...id love to see that. Artist in their actions will move the heart of the nation in ways that their music can not.

level 3

Could you start vlogging some of your daily work, I'd love to see more of what it takes after that short video that was on Instagram ( I think)

level 1

Hey KB, big fan of you and the whole 116 squad!

  1. What is your opinion on the term "christian rapper"? Would you call yourself one? Why or why not?

  2. What do you think about many christian hip hop artists drifting away from making 100% christian music and making more mainstream lyrics where they rap about many other (e.g. political) topics or sometimes rap things without any meaning? E.g. Lecrae, Andy (with Magic&Bird)

  3. Would you make a song about racism/police brutality (like Alex Faith in "Dark Matters")? Have you experienced racism/police brutality in your own life?

See you in heaven brother

level 1

Do you plan on coming to Maryland for a concert any time in the future?

Yes! We are planning a nation wide tour as we speak.

level 3

Yesss! 🙌🏾. Please come to Philly. I need to hear your last album live.

level 3

Come back to KY por favor!

level 1

Is there anything you wish you would have done differently on any of your previous albums, whether in concept, sonically, lyrically etc?

level 2
Original Poster16 points · 1 month ago

Excellent question. They say you never finish an album you just decide to stop working on it. There is no album that I don't think I could of made better if I had more time. But I REFUSE to put out a project, song, and rarely verses for that matter if I haven't spoken what I believe God has put on my heart. In other words, I don't always get the sound how i want it to sound, but i always have to say what i think needs to be said.

level 1

Will we ever see you collab with Jackie Hill Perry? And will you make a guest appearance on the RedCouchPodcast since you're with a Latina? And how has working with creatives such as Natalie Lauren and Joseph Solomon shaped your projects and growth?

Thanks for the AMA and I LOVE the merch! I got the denim jacket it's so dope! Love the Art of Drifting documentary. HGA and Natives are making moves!

When you were young did you expect all this to happen in your life and do what you do , did you have other dreams ? If so have you managed to "make them come true " or not really, if not do you think of how you could had reached them? And how do you learn to focus on what God wants you to do in the present when you got some dreams but no clue how or if you will ever reach them or if they are generally what God wants for you? Sorry for the long complicated questions. .. I hope we could make more than one...

What would be good advice to be a missionary in your own school????

level 2
Original Poster6 points · 1 month ago

Find those there who share your passion and continually encourage one another. A strong witness in school is often just simply gathering with other believers and doing bb study, challenging atheist perspectives and being gracious to your other class mates. Oh...and be ready for folks to think you are lame...don't find that to be a set back but a confirmation of your calling.

level 3

Thank you KB I needed this and I trust in God that everything will fall according to his plan with what he has in store for me and I just wanted to let you know that I’m H-Town and I’m going to Jersey Village high school as a freshman and a missionary , Amen.

level 1

Do you think Lecrae has sold out?

level 1

Alright this is going to be long but it‘s a good bit of questions.

  1. GOAT of Christian Hip Hop?

  2. Any chance of an HGA reunion album?

  3. Opinions on Ski Mask The Slump God?

And then the serious one:

I am a young Christian rapper named Sioux Chief (aka Yung Sasuke). I decided to take an approach to Christian rap that I haven’t heard before: $uicideboy$/NightLovell type Christian rap. Now I try not to bite other rappers’ styles, but Christian rap in this way hasn’t happened before. A few people loved it, and others hated it (most notably my parents). You probably won’t check it out since you are KB, but if you need an idea of what I’m talking about my SoundCloud link will be at the end of this post. It is a song called ‘There Is No Time [Prod. Bankroll Ki]. Rapzilla’s IG admin told me what I’m doing is fine since Jesus is still the focus, but I want to hear your thoughts on this since you are a professional rapper. Thanks.
