So first of all I don't understand why everyone complains so much about this show. I've watched pretty much all the marvel shows available other than The Defenders and I'd honestly put it up there behind Daredevil and above the other 2. The only thing I didn't understand was that scene where Davos and Joy are taking a coffee conspiring about betraying Danny as the plot for the season 2. So 30 minutes or so before that, she left her father because she didn't agree with what he had done to screw with Danny yet fast forward that and she's doing the exact same with the other dude from K'un Lun that if I recall correctly they didn't have a single interaction before that scene. It just felt way off, perhaps I might have missed something so if someone could explain me that last scene I'd be appreciated
Have to say of all the defenders series, I enjoyed this one the most. I liked that there was a real relationship AND Colleen didn't get killed. I liked Danny. I'm not sure if it was better or worse that he didn't continue on strings as in the first episode where he jumped over the taxi and climbed in the window but liked the realism of the fight scenes.
One thing really annoyed me though: give the drug for cost. In the actual real world, (I have worked in Pharma), profits are used to fund development and the next drug. If they gave everything away at cost, Rand would be worthless very quickly and unable to fund new drugs.
However, all in all, great series and am disappointed the critics were down on Iron Fist.
-he cut that ramen noodle hair
-he actually embraced the memes in luke cage about telling people about the dragon/how he became iron fist. which was hilarious. marvel obviously heard us loud and clear and decided to run with it.
-he didnt talk in his serious tone 99% of time. he had a whole new persona
im hype for season 2 after that collab
This is how I figure that this is the case:
They've both defeated Dragons.
In Thor Ragnarok we get to see a Dragon in action and Thor temporarily immobilizes it and defeats it with the help of the bifrost. I think this establishes that Dragons are a force to be reckoned with if Thor has to run from it.
Iron Fist became the Iron Fist by beating Shau-Lao (The Undying). No, that's under selling it, he punches through a dragon into its heart. We didn't see Thor's hammer Mojilnr go through the dragon's lower jaw in Ragnarok (I bet his new hammer-axe could though) but this dude's punch penetrates a dragon hide?
In Defenders we also learn the remains of Dragons stick around a long time and the bones can be a source of a semi-immortality for the Hand. That doesn't strike me as something that is made of weak stuff.
So, given what I have seen so far, I conclude that Iron Fist is in some way the equal of Thor, at least when it comes to Dragons.
I'm currently on episode 2. I've seen all of Daredevil, Punisher, Luke Cage (all series were top notch), and 2 episodes of Jessica Jones (it was horrendous, boring and I couldn't even start episode 3).
My question is - IF is supposed to be some badass martial artist, where is he? I could understand 1/2 of an episode to build up a story before fists start flying, but after 2 episodes, these series looks almost as bad as Jessica Jones.
What gives? I'm thinking of going straight to the Defenders. Just seeking feedback.
Is it me or is the music used VERY reminiscent of "A Clockwork Orange" using instruments other than loud synth?
It certainly evoked some of the feeling from the soundtrack of that movie for me, I'd be interested to hear what other people think.
So I kept hearing how this was the worst of the Marvel Netflix series so I kept putting it off. Well yesterday and today I finally sat down and binged watched the entire series. I thought it was a lot of fun, I loved Danny and Coleens relationship, I loved Danny's optimism, I liked the flashbacks and visions of the Monks....It all reminded me a bit of the style of old 80s martial arts/action type films I watched growing up. I thought it was way better than the 2nd season of JJ. I thought it was better than the second part of LC, even better than some of the second season of DD....Now I can finally go watch the Defenders.
So I really love DareDevil. The comics, the movie(I know), specially the TV series, now that the series is on break, I wanted to watch the defenders but I wanted to know more of the characters. So I binged JJ, then LC and now IF. But come on! Im in episode 2 and it feels its being drag! SERIOUSLY! I love how the hand played out by the end of DD and how Stick and DD and Elektra and all that.
But seriously, with IF I feel like they are dragging the story! It bores me af! Please tell me it would get better! Please!
