Hello there! I recently became part of a whatsapp groupchat that's trying to get one person per country. It's a chat for casual conversation, questions about other countries, etc. We're still looking for someone from Liechtenstein who'd like to become a part of this awesome initiative. If you're from Liechtenstein and you'd like to join, please send me a private message!

We also have a subreddit!

Can a Liechtensteiner please tell me what their local community tax is? I know that the government tax is low the the communities are responsible for other taxation. Also is taxation flat-rate?

So I did an Ancestry.com DNA test, and as well as saying stuff I already knew, like, I was German, it came up with an interesting letter. It was from my great-great-grandfather to his brother (I think) saying he must flee to America after getting involved with the leader of Austria at the time. He fell in love with the princess (is that the right term?) of Liechtenstein, but the Austrian was already in love with her. Anyway I though it was really cool, and I have been obsessed with Liechtenstein ever since. I was just wondering if I could ask a few questions, or if any of you Liechtensteiners could say anything interesting you think I don't know. That would make my day :)

Edit: and when I say he fell in love with her, I mean he married her and moved into the castle and everything

Hey there! I'll be spending a day in Vaduz on April 18th alone and was curious if any locals (or tourists like me) wanted to hang out for a day? I'm a friendly 23-year-old dude from Hungary who speaks pretty good English and also some basic German. I'm planning to go around and see the city, grab some food and some souvenirs and also visit the Hofkellerei.

I've also posted in r/travelpartners, but unfortunately received no response. Here's my original post.

Feel free to drop a comment or PM me!

I have some questions about the language in Liechtenstein. It would be great to get some answers from people living in Liechtenstein.

I understand that a variety of Alemannic dialects are spoken in Liechtenstein, but can people also understand and speak standard German? Would you consider it rude of a tourist didn't try to use your dialect, inserted using standard German?

Are speakers of standard German able to understand these dialects easily or would they need to put in some effort to learn them? Do you know of any good ways to learn the direct for someone who already knows some German? Would people get confused if I unintentionally used a mix of the dialect and standard German when speaking?

I'm studying the poor and poverty in Liechtenstein. I know there is no minimum wage so I'm seeing how that factors with the poor.
