LPT: If you find yourself late to every event, or practically everything, get ready FIRST (shower, changed, etc) and THEN do all of the little things with whatever time you have left over!

I used to find myself procrastinating a lot when I was younger. I would have a party to go to that starts at 8 per se, and I would play video games up until 7 and then get ready, and barely get there on time, cutting it close constantly. After hearing it from family members my entire life, it never stuck until my girlfriend at the time said, "why don't you get ready first, then play video games?" Bingo...made total sense haha.

Now I see others in my life that do the same thing, thus, this LPT. If you wander on your phone, on Facebook or Instagram, or just procrastinate until you realize you have little time to get ready, just get ready FIRST, and then whatever time you have left over, you could do whatever.

Hope this helps at least 1 person!

LPT: If you have a friend who is always late to everything and you need them there at a certain time just time them the event starts at [Time-however many minutes they're usually late], estimated to the nearest 15, cause people gunna look at you funny if you say "I need you there at 7:58".

I've got a friend who used to always just start getting ready at the time I'd come pick him up to go somewhere and I'd be stuck waiting in my car. . .So I got in the habit of telling him I was outside right as I was getting ready to drive over. . The one time he did end up being on time and called me saying "what the hell man where are you?" he learned his lesson and started being on time more often.

This! BUT, my wife has caught on to this now and knows. I then added more time and then it gets absurd at a certain point.

Your wife now is the girlfriend who said on you to get ready first?

Definitely true! I'm almost always on time now! And I keep a to do list with random things like "take a bath 15mins" "iron 30mins" so I know how much time I have left.

Some people are simply very bad at understanding the hidden time it takes to do certain things. One example, they'll think "it taken ten minutes to get somewhere "- in reality it takes ten minutes of driving down the road, but they've not considered time walking to the car, loading it, finding parking, walking inside, etc.

My friend's kid knew his mother would always run late. So when he needed to be at soccer at 4PM, he'd tell her it started at 3PM. It worked out.

This is a link to an article that I thought was fascinating:

I am always early, or if I'm late I'm on time. So I get angry at people who cannot seem to get their shit together and arrive on time. This article helped me see why that is.

But I fail prey to the lie my brain tells me about how long something will take. "This will only take ten minutes!" — and thirty minutes later I'm still working on it. I am too optimistic about how long it takes to do stuff.

Showing up on time is not difficult for considerate people.
