Haley meets Arvin's parents but when things don't go as planned, fate leads to an unexpected reunion with all of her ex-boyfriends. Meanwhile, the family seizes on a nursing home visit with Jay's mean sister, Becky, to settle old scores. But as Jay, Claire and Mitchell compete for her time, Phil, Cam and Gloria end up getting trapped in the home's basement with no way out.
Mitchell sneaks out to "Hero-Con" with fanboy Phil, dressed as their favorite characters from the show "Clash of Swords." It's great until Phil commits the ultimate fan faux pas. In a clash of another kind, Gloria's dinosaur party for Joe is ruined when her nemesis, Dr. Donna Duncan, upstages her with a far bigger and better party right next door.
All I remember is Mitch saying something about how he doesn’t want to go to an area because “his whole head is a gang colour.”
My boyfriend is convinced I’m making it up, I’m sure I’ve seen it, but google is not helping. Anyone?
ETA: I’m almost positive it’s between season 7 and 9. I’m trying to do a rewatch of them to figure this out but if anyone knows let me know!
This is one instance where Cam is starting to teach music to Franklin Middle. I didn't see this until my 5th re-watch. https://reddit-uploaded-media.s3-accelerate.amazonaws.comhttps://www.reddit.com/images%2Ft2_13qp8n%2Fpha4hay4td511
Also, "Cockatoo" in the season six finale:
Mitch: It's just a cockatoo. Cam: oh, one or two!
I've seen Ty Burrell in character as Phil, in a Realtor ad; this one sure looked like Rob Riggle as Gil Thorpe, but with a beard.
He's got the voice, the acting and the beard.
I was sitting here, wondering why this show takes so many breaks between episodes this season and then it dawned on me. This run-of-the-mill, nothing going on BS episode was the season finale.
WTF? Half the characters barely appeared or did not make an appearance at all. There were two separate storylines with no connection.
Granted, big finales are neither common nor necessary for sitcoms but still, there should be something more than this.
In season 1 it was the family portrait, an airing of the grievances of the season and embracing each other as imperfect people. Season 4 had the death of Phil's mother and the promise of a change in the story for Alex. Season 5 had the big wedding and season 6 had Phil realize that Haley and Andy were in love. Season 8 had Luke and Manny graduate...There was always something that made the episode stand out.
But this was not just NOT a standout episode, it was a weak episode by itself. There is no way around it, the writers really lost their touch.
Hi all, just found this sub. Somebody turned me onto the show and I binged the first 3 seasons quickly, then started watching weekly with season 4. I loved how it was both funny and made you feel feels. It became one of my favorite shows on TV. To me, the comedy is still there but the feels are gone almost entirely. Even the comedy isn't as good. I've seen mentioned on here that the kids growing up made them less funny, I guess that could be true. All I know is during season 8 I almost stopped watching...it just wasn't good. Good old Phil was the main reason I stuck with it, he never disappoints. Season 9 was better, but it's still not like it was. Have we come up with a season or plot device maybe where it started to decline?
I am trying to rewatch an episode where I think Phil wanted to go to comic con or something similar and Claire finally ends up cosplaying as some kind of warrior but I can't seem to find it, does someone know an episode with something similar?
I’m running a short project that compares voting systems and participants views/feelings on those systems. It may also be a handy learning tool at a later stage for demonstrating the different voting systems and their effects!
Modern Family is part of the West Village constituency (right hand side of the page) as part of the Comedy genre/party.
Show with the second most episodes running for the Genre. Hard to beat South Park on that front though!
If you’d like to see your show win vote.
If you’d like to help me out with my thesis vote.
It should only take a minute or two!
…and if that doesn’t sway ye, voting will put ye in a draw for a €50 Amazon gift card!
Thank you for any help with the project, hoping to see some interesting data on people television, and voting system preferences!
In the intro they've followed the kids as they've aged, added Joe since he was a baby and even added the dog. And yet...Lily is the same shot from when she was like 6...and now she's like 12...
Is there a reason they haven't updated Cam, Mitch and Lily's portion of the intro?
I am up to date on show, and honestly???? Cam seems like such a whiny brat most of the time. I get that the show doesnt have a main antagonist so the characters have to have flaws to create problems, but sometimes it seems like mitch will screw up a tiny bit and cam just makes a huge deal about it, mitch apologizes to cam, and theres no lesson learned.
Mitch & Cam rents out their upper apartment. Their current house guests have fishy business as it seems for starters. During Mitch & Cam's investigation one of the guests signals "help" while coughing. This happens twice in the episode.
We end up learning that the guests were up to Warhammer roleplay but I didn't quite get the intention of the "help" signals; which can be found in the following transcript: http://transcripts.foreverdreaming.org/viewtopic.php?f=422&t=25254 (CTRL+F+"Help")
A place for fans of ABC's hit show Modern Family.
