I'm trying to figure out if he was simply a tax accountant, or whether he was a lawyer. I know that in Russia you don't need a law degree to be a legal consultant, but what I would like to know is whether he actually ever consulted on any cases. There is virtually no biographical information about him in English, and I can't even figure out whether he went to law school or not. Can you guys help? In English I would be googling things like
Sergei Magnitsky [Tools: Custom Range: Before 2005]
Sergei Magnitsky legal cases
Sergei Magnitsky law
Sergei Magnitsky biography
Sergei Magnitsky resume
I know that in the West they are saying Magnitsky was a lawyer, but I want verification on this, as I've read sources that said he was simply a tax accountant. Also, is there a difference between "legal consultant" and lawyer in Russia?
I'm planning on visiting Russia, during my stay there I will also visit Mongolia and return back to Russia from there.
I contacted an agency that can take care of the visa acquiring process for you and they said they'll be getting me a business visa since I need one for a minimum of two entries/exits from Russia and because it's for 90 days, just in case.
What's bothering me is the fact that the purpose of my trip is strictly tourism. I don't know if this could cause any problems with the authorities, especially since I'll be travelling with a big backpack and won't be looking businessy at all.
I made some research and this is not unheard of but I'm such a person that if it's not by the book, I get anxious and can't really enjoy the experience :) This is also the reason why I'm wary of the tourist visa, I don't know all the places I'll be staying at yet.
