Hello r/syria! My grandmother keeps talking about how much she loves a spice/spice blend called Zazi, that she gets from a friend in Florida, who gets it from Syria. She says it goes well with anything and wants to know exactly what's in it, so she can try to make it herself. The only problem is, I can't seem to find anything about it on the internet. I would love any help I can get to try to figure this out!
I'm an American Muslim and have been dating a Syrian Muslim for about 3 years. I'm in the gulf for the summer where her father lives and want to ask her hand in marriage (as I probably won't be back here in the next year or two and I want to get married in that time period). I'm here for another 40ish days so I want to get this out of the way with at least a few weeks to spare. Her father knows we date, knows this is part of the reason I'm here (its a guaranteed yes, he essentially got me this job so I could come), but I'm not really sure the proper Syrian way. The family isn't particularly religious so I'm looking more for cultural than religious help.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Also, the family is Homsi if that means slightly different customs.
Thanks and wish me luck!
Additional information: -He is currently residing in the UAE with a residency visa. -He is traveling with his wife who has a Jordanian passport and their son (Syrian passport). -Is there any way to check if he will be rejected entry upon landing in Georgia or not? -He already had Syrian friends who were returned back from the TBS airport in Georgia.
As the Americans lose their net neutrality I remembered that such concept is quite alien in Syrian society.
Behold, the benevolent offer of our mobile telecom overlords
Limitless data for 100SYP per day. FOR FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM AND TELEGRAM DURING RAMADAN ONLY.
How nice of them.....
If your network can handle this much data during Ramadan, why the fuck are we stuck with the ridiculously high priced and and capped 3g shit. Oh right, greed.
The biggest insult tho is this shit
There's a TEN BLOODY MEGABYTE BUNDLE......... TEN ...... MEGABYTE ... FOR TEN MINUTES. Why does this even exist? put it out of it's misery.
Now if you want unlimited data, you could always buy the unlimited 3g bundle for the low low price of 36'500 SYP. Who the fuck can even afford this shit?
The "sensibly priced" bundles would barley be enough for basic communications.
I'm not gonna even talk about the Youtube and IPTV bundles.
Yeah Syrian internet.
Hello fellow Syrians. I’m an American/Jordanian and planning on visiting my family in Damascus next month. Will they give me any trouble at the airport if I fly from Amman to Damascus since I was born in the US. I’ll be flying with my Jordanian passport to avoid visa but on my passport it states that I was born in the US. Will I be interrogated? Will they trouble me?
Okay, so, this is a long shot. I was told by my family, since birth, petty much that we were Italian. My family spoke Italian. (Although, I recently realized we spoke it badly) I found out through dna testing I am actually Syrian. Due to the family resemblance, I am assuming we all are. No one believes me. My parents are no longer with us, so we can't question them. So basically, I feel lost. I know my grandparents were immigrants. I know they worked hard to become legal residents. Which they did. But that's all I can find. No more information. No place of origin. No further relative names. All I want is unbiased information about Syria and the people. I don't know hardly anything about a country that comprises more than 60% of me. I realize this is a terrible time in this country. I'm just confused and hurt. I don't know where I come from, and I would very much like to. Any information on credible sites or books or literature where I can learn a history, or cultural traditions, or even something as simple as traditional foods. I feel I can start anywhere. I just want to learn an accurate history. In today's world I find it hard to find anything unbiased.
Thank you for taking time to read this.
Firstly hello from Australia! I just want to ask a few questions regarding the Syrian rebuild. From the outside the SAA is wiping the floor with jihadists and rightly so everyone deserves a stable and prosperous country.
I'm interested in the rebuild of Syria. How is this been accomplished? What have you noticed in your day to day? Where would you like private companies that get rebuilding contracts to be from? and where do you think finance should come from?
On a side note is there a big disconnect from SAA held areas to SDF held areas when it comes to travel or investment?
I see a lot of Syrian refugees near Paris that don't speak a word of French. I think they could need a little table/dictionnary for the most important words.
A bit like this http://lewebpedagogique.com/mozanne/files/2008/11/arabe.pdf but with more words (health, food, hygiene, location, time, numbers, ...)
I couldn't find anything good so I'm asking people here, you might know good sources.
