Ship in a Storm. Still learning how the markers interact with each other but I like how this turned out.

I love the color choices for the water. (Well, I mean, i like the whole thing, the water just really grabbed me initially.)

Colour choices took me a fair bit of time. I kept going back to my references to find what looked right.

Beautiful work! If I may, I've learned that clouds have way more line/structure than we like to think, especially storm clouds. So when creating a convincing sky, it helps to extend the clouds all the way to the horizon, and make them look deep and detailed.

Good to know. I'm still working on improving my skies and environmental aspects whenever I make them.

What markers were you using?

I use copic markers. They are great for shading and getting nice bright colours.

Looks great! Consider better paper? The drawing deserves it and it might suit the markers better

That being said, never drew with markers am a watercolorist, and in watercolor paper is just as important as paint

The paper I'm using right now is Canson 98lb. It's an older sketchbook that I kept around from previous years. Would you recommend heavier paper?

level 3

I would recommend researching it? For example i know there are nice smooth quality papers that dont break the bank by Arches and heavier, or ones like cold pressed that could give you more texture. Just maybe research what artists using markers like using? Good luck!

Cool thanks. I'll definitely look into it.

level 5

I recommend Strathmore 500 series marker paper. It's a heavy paper that is made to absorb the ink and not bleed outward, so you can lay down some heavy layers of ink and blend colors together without muddying up the paper or bleeding last your lines. It works excellent with prismacolor and Copic markers!

I did initially want to add lightning but i wasn't sure how to implement it during the planning phase of the work. But I do want to create lightning in the future.

Love this painting and am no artist but a small criticism. That lighthouse looks out of place and rushed. You put so much effort in the ship and the waves that its visible but the lighthouse is kinda....meh.

Also the waves,I'm in love with the strokes .I love those waves. From now on whenever I will draw water I will reference your art because its so good at waves

The light house is one part I'm not happy with. I feel like putting something else there might have helped more.
