I'm not educated in this world - how do you get clear guide wraps?

Magic! Lol. Usually it’s fine thread silk and epoxy. The epoxy makes the silk clear. There’s other techniques as well. Not sure what was used here, all I know is it’s fantastic work.

Yep, that was the method, silk wraps, epoxy to seal and make clear, then varnish over the top.
