The events in Charlottesville over the weekend have made it clear that there's a lot of racial tension in the US today and while we try to remain as apolitical as possible, some of it has started to spill over into our subreddit. We do not expect this to diminish in the near future, and it will likely increase in intensity as time moves on, and it will continue to spill into this subreddit which has forced us to address it. Let us be perfectly clear on this: Any abusive language (racial, sexual slurs), hateful speech, or direct attacks will be removed and the perpetrators banned.
This is to be enforced across both sides of the political spectrum. Don't call your opponents cucks, snowflakes, nazi sympathizers, SJWs, or any other political buzzword. Don't insult their opinions, don't degrade their experiences, and assume that the person you're talking to is speaking from a position of "good faith" (i.e. they're talking to you with a desire to have a fair, honest, respectful, and open discussion about a topic, rather than trying to push a preconcieved narrative), and strive to engage them the same way. If you see anyone breaking any of the guidelines above, do not engage them and instead report them to the moderators so that we may deal with them. Fighting fire with fire leaves everyone burned. Moderators are wearing welding gloves and can take the heat.
Differing opinions on here are fine. Insulting each other has not, is not, and never will be ok. We don't want to get serious on here, but sometimes reality forces our hand. If you have any questions about what "good faith" means, or anything else brought up in this post, please ask us in the comments below and we'd be happy to address your concerns.
As always, have a regret-free day!
