I kinda wanted to see Booker throw a punch just to see what it looks like.

Hornets
252 points · 2 days ago

He is not going to mess with his money.

My favorite part is the security guard at the end. He just watches them while presumably talking to his supervisor/authorities.

Suns
98 points · 2 days ago

Yeah I'm glad he didn't, Booker seems like he's too smart for that.

Suns
25 points · 1 day ago

Yeah I remember reading a story about him, Ulis, and one other player one time where they were staying in a hotel(I think it was while they were at Kentucky) the night before some event or something and the other two wanted to sneak out, but Booker just wanted to chill and get to bed at a reasonable hour so he'd be good for the next day. They ended up all sneaking out though just to go to a gas station and do nothing lol.

[LAL] Stanislav Medvedenko
11 points · 1 day ago

I remember reading something like that.Pretty sure it was in high school when they were at a camp, and it was him, Ulis and D'lo that were sneaking out.

I've seen videos of him outside of basketball and he isn't very bright. Granted, he is only 21 years old.

I think there's a difference between IQ in real-life decision making vs. actual IQ knowledge.

Hawks

IQ has nothing to do with factual knowledge, it's about your brain's ability to process information and analyze unique situations.

What kind of comment is that? If you're going to say things like that, at least provide evidence.

Hes not a security guard. Hes a security monitor 😏

A security guards only legal duty is to observe and report.

Does he have dreamy eyes? I always have an image of him with completely black(dark brown) eyes.

You are right.

But putting "dark brown lifeless eyes" doesnt have the same ring to it

That’s my fetish.

Dark brown and dreamy are far from mutually exclusive.

I know, I meant like when people seem like their entire eye is black. Like an alien. That’s how he looks in pictures to me.

Looks like Ulis was holding the door open for his buddy. The guys outside thought he was taking too long or being a dick or both. Guy enters elevator. Exchanges words with Ulis. Ulis shoves the guy. Kerfuffle ensues. Fight spills to bottom floor. Booker enters elevator with weird bandana-hoodie combo. Chases guys out of building after Ulis and buddy exchange a few punches. I think.

Warriors

It looked to me like Ulis started it. You can't hold an elevator like that if your friends aren't already there. And then he was the first to initiate contact. Dude was in his face though.

Lakers
73 points · 2 days ago

Yeah it's definitely on Ulis. Sucks how it escalated though. And Booker smart enough to bring 2 of his friends to do the dirty work so he can get paid and avoid legal issues haha

[TOR] DeMar DeRozan
45 points · 2 days ago

Ya i agree, Ulis def in the wrong here. This screams entitiled athlete thinks he can do what he wants without reprecussions because he is famous.

Thunder
7 points · 1 day ago

what i still dont understand is the elevator takes like a minute to go up and down. It would probably take longer for your friend to get there so how do you stand there staring at people who is trying to use the elevator?.

7 points · 2 days ago

yeah Ulis got his.

Suns
6 points · 1 day ago · edited 1 day ago

Depending on the situation, it can be argued that someone is defending themselves with someone getting that close to your face and/or depending on what they said.

Edit;

I’d implore everyone who thinks this couldn’t be self defense to read all the comments below. Legal self defense and tv/movie self defense are completely different things.

Cavaliers
10 points · 1 day ago

I don't think you can say its defending himself because he is the one instigating the issue.

Like if i insult someone, they confront me, and then i hit them it wouldn't be self defense.

Tbf Ulis being kinda a douche blocking the elevator.

Mavericks

He was entitled af. I encounter these people everywhere, your time and your friend’s time is not worth more than others.

I had lady holding up a line at fastfood joint because she was waiting for her friend to get there so they could order. You know you could let people who are ready to order jump ahead of you but yeah, take 5 minutes to stall the line all because you think letting others go before you will make your order take longer. Logic.

I don’t condone unnecessary violence but Ulis is a douche here and only has himself to blame.

Kings

And then he threw the first punch lmao. I'm not sure about the title of this post.

1 more reply

lol "jumped"

-blocks people from getting on the elevator when he could've just as easily gotten off and waited for the next one to arrive

-gets in the guy's face because he dared to step on the public elevator, then pushes him

-no punches nor kicks by the group of dudes, obviously they aren't trying to hurt him

this is 100% on ulis, and he's lucky he didn't get the shit beat out of him

23 points · 1 day ago

That's the thing. It's a headlock. They coulda kicked his teeth out onto the floor under 30 seconds if they wanted to. They were being nice.

Honestly wish it happened, you wouldn't even say it's undeserved considering he's squaring up against 3+ guys starting all of it. I'd have a decent justice boner. Now I'm annoyed they got chased out by the NBA crew.

Pacers

Do you even know how security footage works. It’s not an iPhone bruh

Kinda crazy that security cameras, which have the soul purpose of taping things that could be incriminating, have lower quality than cell phones.

35 points · 2 days ago

It's not the quality of the cameras these days, it's the cost of storing the immense amount of footage recorded. The lower the quality (ie. lower resolution, higher image compression, lower frame-rate etc), the more of it can be kept in your data store before having to overwrite it.

Having said all that, your point about assisting with securing an arrest/conviction is totally valid.

Bulls
7 points · 1 day ago

This, they can fit so much more footage onto way less storage because you need to be able to go back months and I can't even imagine how big a month of high definition footage would be.

Sigh. My eternal pet peeve, false headlines .

He wasn’t really jumped. He was bein a asshole holding an elevator on some Hollywood ish, and 1 dude folded him up like a little kid and put him in a headlock rofl

Then Ulis came back like a kid whos pointing out to his dad who stole his bike. Hilarious vid

I'm sorry, but that's on Ulis. Dude was straight up blocking ppl from getting on the elevator being a entitled douche. Then he shoves the guy after they say something to him and he gets put in a headlock and walked out like a little kid. The other dudes didn't throw any punches at all, then he goes and gets his boys to come fight his battle that he started.

I hope it was worth it, because that's gonna cost them a few bucks.

The fuck? Any backstory?

Raptors
12 points · 2 days ago

NBA free agent and former Kentucky Wildcat Tyler Ulis was involved in a bit of a melee back in May 2017 when he was jumped in an elevator by a group of men. Tyler had backup, however, when former teammate and close friend Devin Booker and two other men came to his defense.

Apparently, the altercation began after Ulis was holding the elevator for his friends when the other group of men was attempting to get on. But Ulis blocked the group and a fight instantly broke out. As the fight spilled into the hallway, Booker and some of he and Ulis' other friends found the men and a second fight broke out.

Devin Booker covered his face with a bandana to conceal his identity but did not seem to punch anyone from the surveillance footage. Cops were called to the scene but no arrests were made. A source close to the Suns' organization told TMZ, "While these guys know they are always potential targets for others trying to cause trouble, it's hard to blame them for defending their friend who is on the bad end of a 4 on 1 attack."

Bulls Tankwagon

They were targets because Ulis was being a douche, not because they are NBA players.
