I was introduced to this series through a friend and I can say I was hooked from the first episode to the last one (finished it in 2 days). It's a shame it wasn't marketed better as I had never heard of it until my friend brought it up.
I loved the finale and I thought although it was only 2 seasons it closed it out right by having Scott's character attempting to get back into acting. Any chances it will ever get picked back up or made into a movie?
So I just made the connection that Stormi Daniels, the woman that Trump may or may not have had an affair with- is one of the porn stars in the Sin Say Shun Award Show Afterparty episode and I'm straight up dying right now 😂 haha sorry if I'm late to that party
I'm sorry this might sound weird but am i the only one who adores the way Cases kisses Henry (Lizzy probably does that in real life as well) she just snuggles up real close to him first, then tilts her head and goes in for the kiss, it's really unique and adorable.
Instead of what Netflix did with Arrested Developments reboot, for Party Down it would be cool if they cast an entire new set of faces of struggling LA characters trying to make it BUT during the entire new season each episode and party catered would be for one of the old cast members characters or one of the former characters would be a guest at the party. It would be an interesting way of a “where are they now” while still keeping the old fan base engaged without trying to become a writing contortionist of creating a narrative of why all of them are all still struggling over a decade later.
Also, It would definitely be a little too unbelievable for fans to see an older Lizzie Caplan or aging Henry still in Catering given their characters profile and where they left off. Also possibly way too dismal to see them all in the same place after 10 years, older and aging as possibly resentful caterers.
This idea may have already been posted but I woke up this morning thinking about the show for some reason and this idea hit me like a diamond! So I had to peck it out just in case.
I love Henry's character. He's really depressed and pessimistic but it's not in a whiny way that makes him annoying. Some of his lines are just so real, like when he does that thing where he sarcastically jokes about how shit his life. It's so dark yet hilarious. Here's an example:
"Well the sex was adequate, but the the connection to another living soul in my abyss of loneliness and despair... that. that was profoundly moving."
Conservative guy: you okay? Anything broken?
"Uh just my career and my life, so I use pain killers and drink too much."
I'm going through a bit of a rough patch in life right now and I totally relate to all this shit lol. Anyway! Just sharing my love for Party Down :).
Ok, just finished re-watching the series for about the 7th time. And here is a little quiz that I came up with based on something that I noticed:
At what THREE POINTS in the series, do characters randomly break off into British-sounding accents? These are just regular lines randomly delivered in a semi-British accent, NOT affects or impersonations, like anything in the "Not On Your Wife" episode, or Kyle impersonating a garden gnome that "would be like 'Ah! Ron, you're drownin' me in JIZZ!"
Edit: Thank you all for your participation so far! This is sorta starting to feel like when you play hangman and you get that creeping feeling that MAYBE someone asked you a letter and you said "NO", but really you meant "YES", in that maybe my guidelines were not clear. This is, after all, a stupid little thing I noticed, and did not really give it a solid set of rules when I turned it into a Quiz!
That being said, I was just about to give one away, but there is no point in that. I will say that the FIRST one is in Season 1 Episode 1!
"Two eggs in a tube sock"
"It was like watching a mummy battle"
Ron "Henry, how much do you think our host pulls in per annum? Best guess."
Henry "I don't know, 100 thousand dollars"
Ron "Come on, stop pulling my leg, seriously"
Henry "200 thousand dollars?"
Ron "Squared maybe"
Henry "4 Billion dollars?"
Ron "Hah, hahahah! Hey Henry, you're aware that Soup or Crackers is the fastest growing non-poultry non-coffee franchise in all of southern California right?
"Pancake lady sounds like a whore."
"Just call me Mrs Butterworth bitch."
