Emoji Movie 2: Are You Bad Enough To Save The President?

[–]Bridgecobbler 207 points208 points  (10 children)

Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the president?

[–]AlmanzoWilder 114 points115 points  (0 children)

Electric Boogaloo will be remembered for eternity as the greatest name for a sequel in cinematic history (with Jaws III in 3-D right up there).

[–]chingwhite24 85 points86 points  (11 children)

I haven't seen an electric boogaloo meme in years. Take my upvote

[–]Thor4269 213 points214 points  (9 children)

Is that a dead meme?

Nope, chuck testa

[–]TreChomes 152 points153 points  (5 children)

Trump’s open mouth. Otherwise known as a shithole.

Otherwise known as Putin's cockholster.

[–]Kintarly 79 points80 points  (5 children)

[–]halfnhalfkw 26 points27 points  (1 child)

I am pretty sure that is goatse too....but with teeth

[–]switch_case 138 points139 points  (4 children)

No, it is not a gaping human butthole, it is Trump's mouth.

Edit: but what's the difference?

[–]VikingJesus102 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Are we really gonna split hairs here, Dude?

[–]cmd_iii 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I actually think it’s lit!

[–]BigHouseMaiden 497 points498 points  (36 children)

My thoughts exactly! Trump and his wife both asked Obama to show them his "papers" (birth certificate and college transcripts) even though...

*Trump and his family misrepresented their ancestry as Swedish rather than German so they wouldn't "put pressure on their Jewish customers" who may have preferred not to buy from Germans.

*Melania Trump had to delete her website after her claim of having an architecture degree was debunked.

*Trump claimed to have graduated first in his class at Wharton, however In Gwenda Blair's 2001 book, "The Trumps: Three Generations of Builders and a President," she said

Trump transferred into Wharton from Fordham University with help from family connections. The president's older brother, Freddy Trump, knew an admissions counselor at Wharton, she said.

*In contrast Obama graduated from Columbia University in 1983 with a degree in political science and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1991. He was also the first black president of the Harvard Law Review.

[–]greymalken 488 points489 points  (12 children)

You're forgetting the big one: his tax returns. For someone who made so much noise about wanting to see all of Obama's documents, that shifty motherfucker won't release his goddamn tax returns.

[–]BigHouseMaiden 208 points209 points  (2 children)

He raised my taxes, so I will never forget that the bastard hasn't revealed his. He just never asked Obama for them. I hope the midterm brings in some Democrats willing to bring laws to mandate that Congress, Federal nominees and Presidential candidates must disclose their taxes, conflicts of interest and mandate Independence or recusal if any conflicts arise.

[–]YouLookSoLovely 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Can I get a watt watt!?

[–]dolphins3 4474 points4475 points  (181 children)

Shouldn't they project it onto Mar-a-Lago? I'm assuming Trumps is there, since it's the weekend.

[–]Chaosmusic[🍰] 3016 points3017 points  (78 children)

I would think if someone tried this where Trump actually was the Secret Service would do something. Trump may be a joke but they aren't.

[–][deleted] 1930 points1931 points  (24 children)

really hoping that people respect this fact, also respect the Secret Service.

"Trump may be a joke but they aren't." is a perfect way to describe the situation.

[–]DonaldBlythe2 985 points986 points  (4 children)

It could actually be a movie tagline. Kevin Hart as the president with The Rock, Michael Jai White, Mark Wahlberg, and Jason Statham are his secret servicemen.

"The President is a joke ... but we aren't"

[–]Covetous_ 366 points367 points  (0 children)

i actually want to see that now

[–]SethQ 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Expendables meets Transporter, and Kevin Hart is the package? I'd watch it.

[–]Balmarog 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I'd watch that movie.

[–]waltjrimmer 219 points220 points  (0 children)

My mother said she fully expected someone in the Secret Service to kill Trump.

My father and I spent a while explaining the level of dedication you have to have displayed to not just be put on protective duty but Presidential protection. These aren't just bodyguards, they're basically (and often are former) soldiers with the one mission of getting their VIP from place to place safely. Political opinion, personal opinion, none of it matters.

I have no idea what the training to be in the Secret Service is like. I don't know what they look for to decide if you're working counterfeit or protection or what. But I know they're the kind of people I do not want to mess with.

[–]fullforce098 118 points119 points  (0 children)

The Secret Service is basically a group of body guards with Batman-level training, equipment, and preparedness. The person that tried to project something onto a building the President is in would be detained before they even hit the switch. They don't fuck around.

[–]wefearchange 69 points70 points  (0 children)

Considering how many people have gotten into the White House's grounds in the last year, and their issues partying and everything else, it's not an organization a lot of confidence is in at this point.

[–]Red0t514 166 points167 points  (23 children)

Yeah, they wouldn’t let anyone near the building with a box(the projector). In their eyes they have no clue if it’s a harmless projector or a bomb

[–]ScarsUnseen 99 points100 points  (0 children)

In their eyes they have no clue if it’s a harmless projector or a bomb

A sentiment shared by the Republican voting base about Trump circa 2016.

[–]Psykerr 32 points33 points  (13 children)

Generally these people are using a high powered light source with a filter over it.

In this case, they could use a light source that can project over a mile and the secret service wouldn’t need to do shit about it.

[–]Red0t514 66 points67 points  (8 children)

They would be able to see the beam of light, and I doubt they’d let you fuck with the building the president is staying in

[–]cthulusayswhat 48 points49 points  (2 children)

You can’t even point a laser pointer at a plane without federal time. Point a light beam at the presidents current residence and prepare for a very uncomfortable introduction to the some nice men with guns and suits

[–]eastsideski 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Pointing a laser at a plane is much more dangerous than using a projector

[–]StateOfAllusion 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Definitely different. A projector is just an annoyance

[–]WhereIsYourMind 21 points22 points  (1 child)

Even if your case wouldn't hold before a judge, they can still arrest you. There are places I'd prefer to be during the weekend over a federal holding facility.

[–]lowtoiletsitter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

And a federal weekend at that

[–]redfin45 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Secret Service would do something. Trump may be a joke but they aren't.

Are you sure? To take just one incident from a long, long list:

March 23, 2014: Three Secret Service agents are sent home from a presidential trip to the Netherlands after being found passed out drunk in a hotel hallway in Amsterdam.

That is if they're not fucking prostitutes in Colombia, and then don't pay for it. Or take secret service detail away from the White House to babysit a friend's house whose buddy runs the detail. Or... Or... etc.

[–]diddlebunions 60 points61 points  (5 children)

Mar-a-lago is private land so it’s probably off limits. Also I’ve seen something else projected over this same building so I think there’s a special projector that’s permanently across the street from that entrance.

[–]richardeid 16 points17 points  (3 children)

Is Trump DC not private property? What really can be done?

[–]diddlebunions 26 points27 points  (2 children)

I think it’s a projector that belongs to the building across the street. So it’s their property, not trump’s. And as to what can be done, they can contact police.

[–]thinkB4WeSpeak 341 points342 points  (46 children)

I'm sure messing with his businesses constantly takes income away from him seeing as customers don't want to constantly be harassed.

[–]dolphins3 266 points267 points  (20 children)

I certainly hope so, but irritating Trump personally at the same time would be a huge bonus.

[–]fortwaltonbleach 79 points80 points  (15 children)

i can't think of many irritations worse than being donkey punched in the wallet. this works.

[–]therestruth 94 points95 points  (14 children)

It's hardly a "donkey punch" to his wallet if he can just write this sort of thing off and still make millions behind closed doors with his rich buddies he paves the way for. Losing a few hotel reservations isn't enough to phase that bafoon.

[–]thebryguy23 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't they project it onto Mar-a-Lago? I'm assuming Trumps is there, since it's a day that ends in 'y'

[–]username_lookup_fail 83 points84 points  (0 children)

There is no good place to project from, and it is a very bad idea to point anything at a place being protected by the secret service.

Quick story time - I was visiting a company with offices very, very close to the white house. They set up a laser network connection between two buildings. The secret service got involved. Quickly.

[–]abnormalsyndrome 98 points99 points  (20 children)

Would you project a light on a building actively protected by the secret service looking over a president?

I wouldn’t, but you do you. We sure could use another headline in the news cycle.

[–]ryanthedrumguy 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No he's only there on days ending in Y

[–]millanstar 505 points506 points  (0 children)

[–]12INCHVOICES 1669 points1670 points  (68 children)

How does one manage to do this? I would imagine you have to be within a certain proximity and stay off hotel property, but that's a pretty great projection.

Regardless of how it's done, I think it's awesome.

[–]datums 769 points770 points  (11 children)

You can do this from pretty far, and way off center, but it's expensive.

[–]richsaint421 432 points433 points  (8 children)

It is, the throw distance required to do so without distortion at a large distance is going to cost a decent amount for a high end projector and a high end lens.

[–]Osgwa 617 points618 points  (2 children)

I’m sure there are people in high places who dislike trump enough to make this happen

[–]richsaint421 221 points222 points  (1 child)

Oh of course. Honestly George soros could put one in every city where there’s a trump hotel and not even blink an eye at the price tag.

[–]evanhc 59 points60 points  (0 children)

The equipment is expensive, but it's not like they need to purchase it outright. A production rental shop for theatre/events (such as PRG or 4wall) will have this kind of gear available for short term at a fraction of the cost.
Source: I work lighting for theatre/events.

[–]imregrettingthis 626 points627 points  (33 children)

Just have a strong projector with high lumens.

$10,000-$20,000 will get it done.

[–]prayingmantitz 843 points844 points  (15 children)

That's hardly any money for the illumenati

[–]from_nods_to_nothing 141 points142 points  (3 children)

Charlie Daniels disapproves.

[–]iizdat1n00b 60 points61 points  (1 child)

However, Taco Bell does approve

[–]tonycomputerguy 73 points74 points  (0 children)

In a thread about shitholes, it was only a matter of time before Taco Bell was mentioned.

[–]Work-Safe-Reddit4450 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It is no frivolous subject.

[–]smixton 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You mean the illumenati?

[–]WhichWayzUp 92 points93 points  (1 child)

$10-$20k? Money well spent, projecting poop emojis at the entrance of DC Trump Tower.

[–]Captain-Nemo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We are all talking about him, so it was money well spent.

[–]gamingchicken 20 points21 points  (0 children)

high lumens

Got a bit excited and then realised that I wasn’t in /r/cryptocurrency

[–]albedodecero 97 points98 points  (3 children)

The hotel is on a wide street, Pennsylvania Ave NW, in DC. Pull over across the street in a pickup with a generator and a decent projector and there it is.

[–]fissionpowered 18 points19 points  (1 child)

I think that's the 12th Street side. Not nearly as wide.

[–]albedodecero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still 4 lanes wide, no? Edit: Just checked and it's 5 lanes, so a decent throw.

[–]ErictheRedding 108 points109 points  (1 child)

You project it for like 30 seconds before the cops come, take a picture, and then leave.

The you reap the social media benefits.

[–]Fatvod 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yea seriously, its like everyone in this thread just collectively forgot that the police exists. Sure you can do this, but you wouldnt last more than 20 minutes before cops shut you down.

[–]visualdescript 51 points52 points  (5 children)

My guess is projecting out of a mobile vehicle like a van.

[–]Phuka 283 points284 points  (4 children)

as opposed to an immobile vehicle like the pickup truck on my lawn

[–]WhoTookPlasticJesus 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This is projected on the Twitter headquarters regularly, and not by rich people. The hardest part is getting line-of-sight, not projecting the image.

[–]uhhuhwut 1866 points1867 points  (22 children)

I can't wait to tell my kids about this moment in history while hiding from mutants created by the nuclear fallout.

[–]audible_dog_fart 184 points185 points  (21 children)

could this finally be what stumps trump?

[–]gangbangkang[S] 1815 points1816 points  (134 children)

This is all done by artist Robin Bell, who creates light projections that serve as acts of protest against the Trump administration. He did another projection at the same hotel in May 2017 which got a lot of media attention. The LA Times published a great piece on Bell and his projects if you're interested in learning more.

[–]WhichWayzUp 769 points770 points  (48 children)

I like this. Harmless, temporary, customizable graffiti to make political statements.

[–]IrishWilly 859 points860 points  (37 children)

Harmless as no physical violence, but still, it is sabotaging someones business. Trump 110% deserves it but I don't think we should just waive it off as harmless. If westboro baptist started projecting their crazy shit onto the businesses of places they were protesting I don't think there would be as many people saying how much they like this type of statements.

[–]bkk-bos 493 points494 points  (0 children)

Whether or not projecting unapproved images on to private property constitutes trespass could make for an interesting free speech test case.

[–]MutatedSerum 218 points219 points  (0 children)

Good point.

[–]crybannanna 166 points167 points  (0 children)

The entire point of a protest against a business owner is to make them lose money.

It’s harmless in that it doesn’t destroy property, doesn’t vandalize, and doesn’t even subject anyone to picket lines which can erupt into violence. It’s harmful to profit.... but that’s the entire point.

[–]mattjh 216 points217 points  (8 children)

Thanks for this info. There’s something really appealing about public guerrilla projects like this. My inner DIY punk nods approvingly.

[–]solla_bolla 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The temporary nature of this technique really sells it for me.

Let us not forget that shithole is an anagram for "his hotels."

[–]Shugbug1986 57 points58 points  (1 child)

"shitholes" would be an anagram for "his hotels".

[–]DancingPetDoggies 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is more apt as it includes all of Trump's hotels. This is also evidence we are living in a simulation. I mean come on, a co-incidence like this?

[–]dragondadd 71 points72 points  (6 children)

But his hotels has two s’s and shithole has one?

[–]xxxrivenmainxxx 71 points72 points  (5 children)

[–]abraksis747 217 points218 points  (171 children)

I read somewhere about how they can't stop this? It's not illegal?
I understand that it's a form of protest, and I agree it's funny. But I would think that someone would be arrested for this.

[–]wingsfan64 56 points57 points  (0 children)

This comment has an article that mentions the legal aspects. Basically as long as they aren’t trespassing or blocking traffic, then it’s fine. Sounds like they’re parking legally on the side of the road and projecting from a van.

[–]Brock1313 237 points238 points  (67 children)

Arrested for what exactly?

[–]ice_cream_sandwiches 295 points296 points  (6 children)

Harassment? If someone shined lights at my place of business or residence, I'd hope I could do something about it. But maybe not?

[–]Hi12121 204 points205 points  (2 children)

Yea I feel like if you were to do this to a restaurant and have it say "terrible food", it would be dealt with real quick.

[–]yarnskeinporchswings 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of the point in his deposition where the lawyer was asking him about acting in good faith, and when asked whether he could picket the restaurant and say they had terrible food and could make people sick, he said yes. If he wanted to. Until they sued.

[–]ViggoMiles 50 points51 points  (3 children)

Might get a fine for some city / nuisance level ordinance.

[–]rydonahue 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Shining a high lumens light into traffic isn’t exactly the brightest or safest idea. (Pun intended)

[–]briangallia 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Let me shine a big ass light on your house all night that says, "Pedophile"

[–]MintyTruffle 46 points47 points  (2 children)

No idea, but if I owned a business I would sure as shit want this to be illegal.

[–]pethy00 406 points407 points  (23 children)

How will Trump recover?

[–]yomommasofat3 91 points92 points  (0 children)

Probably by tweeting about it

[–]tomgreen99200 85 points86 points  (0 children)

With another tax payer funded trip to Florida.

[–]spread_thin 157 points158 points  (10 children)

Based on his twitter feed, it's pretty clear he hasn't recovered. He's screaming about Hillary... again....

[–]Turdsworth 123 points124 points  (1 child)

I’m not following the news closely. Is she still running against him?

[–]AndyWarwheels 67 points68 points  (0 children)

The race is neck and neck.

[–]hairy_butt_creek 65 points66 points  (1 child)

His obsession with Hillary is pretty disturbing. He should see a therapist. I'm no expert, but I think he's a bit in love with her? He keeps talking about Hillary, and Hillary is just chilling at home watching Judge Judy reruns.

[–]radome9 31 points32 points  (1 child)

He's obsessed with her. Which is really weird and sad.

[–]Advantageous 106 points107 points  (0 children)

[–]ijee88 296 points297 points  (2 children)

[–]cevo 85 points86 points  (0 children)

Reddit is a shithole.

[–]eric22vhs 309 points310 points  (29 children)

So this wasn't something the president should be caught saying, even behind closed doors, but I guarantee every single person who's pretending to be shocked and offended by his comments has on multiple occasions, referred to other countries as shitholes. Hell, these very people refer to certain US States as shitholes.

[–]blindmouze 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The poop emojis are a nice touch.

[–]Oriolebird9 262 points263 points  (8 children)

I don't know about you, but I'd rather spend a night in Trump hotel than a night in Haiti

[–]Head_Cockswain 182 points183 points  (5 children)

So would 99% of reddit, though the haters will never admit it.

[–]Rhymes_with_ike 204 points205 points  (13 children)

Surely THIS will stump him!
