EU players are on a complete roll at WCS. Special is the only one who can prevent a all European RO8.

Amazing plays all around. Fucking blast to watch.

EU players farming those NA tournaments. Blizzard better start to introduce EU/NA region locks in the future. Its like koreans attending those foreign tournaments in the past LUL

level 2

It honestly has looked like an NA vs KR level of gap today, which is weird since Neeb and Scarlett knocked out some decent EU players just yesterday

It's even more weird considering Neeb beat herO and Rogue last month in bo5s in that offline Chinese tournament. I seriously doubt Mana could beat either of those two, I guess Neeb just being inconsistent cause for sure his skill is a level or two above Manas.

That sounds stupid but I completely agree. Also PvP being how it is definitely allows more room for an upset. It seems Mana prepared well and caught Neeb off guard, I think he was also a bit unlucky.

imo Mana currently has one of the, if not the best PvP outside of Korea, but people just expect the one who always wins to win :'). On the other hand, PvZ and PvT Neeb is most likely better than Mana.

meming on region lock is so 2015

level 2

Please stop kicking NA while we're down

level 3

"It's already dead"

level 4

We're on life support over here and special is the only obstacle from EU pulling the cord.

level 5

You think it's bad now? Think how bad it will be in a year when Serral has dominated the metagame and "trained" everyone on the EU ladder to play vs next level zerg. Think how bad it will be in few years when Clem and Reynor mature and come to their own. Damn.

Mexico to the rescue

level 2

Diffrence is that Eu players should net realy be geneticaly better then Na players on the whole.

Also 3 of 8 players are from Poland, probably best event for Poland since forever. so hyped for semis.

level 1

I think it's fair to say Scarlet and neeb have underperformed so far, and other than Special you're basically looking at the best NA players. There are far more top level EU players than NA players. This RO8 is gonna be AMAZING though! Can't wait

The scenario reminds me when Brazil lost to Germany 7-1 at Brazil at the (football) World Cup. Obviously its not nearly as bad but still.

level 2

The scenario reminds me when NA player Neeb won 3 out 4 WCS tournaments over Europeans last year. Obviously it's not nearly as bad but still.

Its not problem This tournament is for 'Non-Korean' so if europe gamer has 8 spot in ro.8, its not problem too

level 1

Shouldnt na be americas? Kelazhur was there too.

Yes, but calling Kelazhur a top NA player can be hit and miss. He has peaked very very high, but he's quite inconsistent.

I think the OP is a bit misleading, since most NA pro players are not favored to win against EU pro players. There are also far fewer veteran NA players than EU. If I think of top foreigners from NA I think of Scarlett, Neeb, Special, and maybe Masa. Is there anyone else I'm missing? Whereas from EU I can think of so many. Snute, Nerchio, uThermal, Harstem, TLO, Serral, SHowtime, Heromarine, DNS, Mana, Reynor, Drogo, Stephano, and many more. *Edit: Elazer, Bly, Sortof, etc. So it's far less likely for EU as a whole to have a bad day vs NA players just because there are far more of them. Take Austin Group Stage 3 for example (first round where the pros really played against each other and not against amateurs). Out of the 32 players in it, only 6 out of the 32 players were NA pros (19%) and half of them moved forward. The ones that didn't--Masa, Puck, and Semper--are heavily disfavored vs any of the top level EU players in the same round with the possible exception of Masa. So the results don't surprise me at all. Did anyone expect Puck to defeat Elazer or Special? Take note as well that two of the three NA players who dropped from that round had to play vs Elazer and Special........

Bottom line, EU has always been a stronger region than NA with far more top level pros and a stronger pro scene. Neeb, Scarlett, and Special are still the only serious contenders from NA. Cham and Kelazhur being rather inconsistent. This is just Neeb and Scarlett having bad days imo.

I kind of had a feeling that Scarlett would have a hard time vs Nerchio, but I would NEVER have predicted Mana to 3-0 Neeb.

level 1

Mexic the only hope of NA lol
