No one can claim Joel Olsteen is making radical cult-like commands to his followers because he really isn't telling them anything. The residents at the assisted living facility I work at insist on watching his show every week and the average episode has no moral message and no instructions on how to live your life other than "worship Jesus and things will get better. You'll get money". He's a leach on society that contributes nothing, but it's hard to argue he's running a cult.

He's a motivational speaker who sorta talks about God too. Though, his church's inactivity during the early stages of Harvey was an issue. But definitely not a cult.

Yeah my house was flooded in Harvey and I hate him as much as anyone but that's a pretty accurate description.
