The new reddit style forces us to only have 10 rules. We previously had 13 or so and they were ranked in a different order depending if you use the old or new reddit style. We just finished cleaning up our rules, so they are the same now for the two styles and a little bit more specific. They are the old rules from before, only rule 3 and 10 have been added more specifically (these were kinda unwritten rules before).
I think it’s called the [insert word here] effect or something along those lines. Some sort of psychological phenomenon.
This had to have been at least three years ago if not more.
The point of her post was to ask if she should leave him because she was concerned he couldn't properly care for their child. He was getting up during movies to check the mailbox over and over, couldn't figure out how to fill the cat's water bowl, and was getting up in the middle of the night to fix the cat tree in their living room with a flashlight. She came back later to say that it turned out he had a tumor.
I can't remember her name, my Fiancee thinks it's Cardi B, but I'm not so sure. I listened to some of her songs and it doesn't quite sound like her. She sorta slurs/mumbles in her raps, and one of her recent singles on the radio she actually sings a bit. I'm trying to find that song on youtube and none of the Cardi B stuff sounds like what I'm looking for. If more details are needed, I'll add on here. UPDATE
She uses a few spanish slurs in the lyrics, for example puta.
Very vague but I'm hoping somebody can help with this, it would make my month. Years ago a friend and I were listening to music(Yo La Tengo) and the song synced up perfectly with the scene in the movie we were watching on TV. It was some sort of assumedly 80s movie and the scene was in a laboratory of some sort(I THINK). I remember a ton of bright colors that were on the equipment and maybe some sort of stuff. Very vague but I was inebriated! The experience was beautiful, I'd love to be able to recreate it with my buddy. Thanks!
I cannot for the life of me think of the name of this song i kind of know how to play. I know it was released between 2010 and 2016, it featured a male singer and acoustic guitar and it was mainstream, but that's pretty much it. I have included a short video of me playing what I think is the intro/main part of the song. I know my guitar playing is bad, but hopefully it will be enough to decipher what the song is. https://youtu.be/TM5du5Bmnv0
I don't remember much about the movie; I have no idea when I watched it, or who played in it (would make things too easy). I think it was set in the UK or Ireland.
The bomber, being an old bomb disposal expert himself, knew exactly how to counter their disarming methods by predicting where they'd hide while detonating a bomb to protect themselves from the blast, things like that.
The final scene has the main character's (black?) retired mentor sacrifice himself in a park's playground by sitting on a bomb so the bomber can get caught.
It sounds similar to “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” from “Dirty Dancing.” Definitely a male and female alternating singing. I can’t remember the lyrics except something about “standing up” or “stand up.” The complicating factor is that I heard it recently as part of an EDM (?) or techno mix played at a club. But I definitely have heard the original song before. It’s pretty well-known, sounds late 80s-ish, possible early 90s-ish.
Pretty much as explained in the title. Both versions use the same footage and same audio track (at least for dialogue) but seem very different on first watch. They were basically trying to show that by making the scene appear tense your mind would fill in the more dramatic dialogue of ‘he’s going to shoot’. Really not sure where I saw this, might have been in a documentary, classroom video, YouTube, etc. First saw the clip maybe a decade ago.
I think the anime is quite old.
I remember a girl who can go to a magical world with the help of some blue object.
I'm not so sure if she was shrunken or could shrink.
I also believe it was anime style.
I think it actually wasn't a blue object BUT A PERSON, blue colored with red boots that helped her.
One of the episodes had some woman use a rose to fill balloons with some light in a lighthouse.
Edit: made a shitty visual of the cover on my phone's drawing pad
It's not Ember, but it's kind of similar in concept as far as the underground society Vs forbidden world above goes.
I read the book when I was in primary school, so I'd place it anywhere between 2002 and 2006 (could have been an older book, but I doubt it)
I'm Italian so that's the language I read it in, but I have no idea if it's the original language, as I sadly can't remember the author.
Protagonist was a little girl, along with her best friend who was a boy (I think he might have been slightly older than her but I'm not certain); her grandma was somewhat important in the underground society due to being a herbalist and therefore acting as a doctor as needed. Her parents were dead and sometime around the beginning she goes to visit their grave (a mass grave, due to being low class). The society has strict rules and some kinda police force/guards enforcing them; in particular I remember them guarding fabrics, though I don't remember why they were deemed so important.
The world above ground was a taboo and even just talking about it could get you in trouble, also it kind of got legend/myth status? As in they'd been living underground for so long no one alive remembered it and they didn't dare going above to see it in first person.
One day the protagonist finds a man with severe injuries and it turns out he claims to come from the world above, starts telling them tales about it and eventually the book ends with them going and finding out it was there all along and it's perfectly livable and beautiful and whatnot.
My edition was a paperback, I'd say 1cm thick? It's not a long book. The cover is my most vivid memory, it's a grass field with a hole (covered by a grate) where a girl (blonde hair, blue eyes) is peeking out from.
Hi! I'm looking for a song of the aforementioned artists which contains the word "London" in the chorus (It's not The Queen of Lower Chelsea) and I'm kind of sure that word is accompanied by "Dance".
I tried a search on both The Onion and HardTimes with no luck, and general google search just brings up tumblr blogs.
NOT the following:
interview with a vampire
the addams family
Hi Everyone, I'm want to remember the name of a TV show pretty similar to Dominion, but I guess it is a bit older. I can't recall if I watched on HBO. I guess it was a miniseries, about an hour and a few minutes long each episode. I am not sure but I guess the plot was a guy (or group) who being hunted by angels, and there were some cool SFx.
I am really lost, any help would be great.
You'd have your own profile page but there were also pages for the goals in question so everyone could discuss them. I remember phrases like "10,000 other people also want to do this" after the popular ones. You could tick off the ones you'd done and then it'd go into the achieved category. I don't even know if it exists anymore but I'm dying to know the name of the site.
My co-workers and I have been trying to figure out if this was a real thing or one of us made it up. We're trying to figure out what movie or show had an owl character who used an ear horn to hear.
This could have been anywhere from the 80s or 90s, or it could have been an old Disney or Looney Tunes cartoon. Sorry. Our collective memories are shot at this point.
We've gone down the usual list: Archimedes (Sword in the Stone) to the Great Owl (Secret of NIMH) and everything in between.
People have been saying Grand Duke of Owls from Rock-a-doodle, but I can't find any evidence of an ear horn/trumpet.
I'm fairly certain that he is northern European. He does a comedic playthrough of one of the 2d pokemon games, soul silver or heart gold iirc. He also has videos of other games. He's fairly popular and has been on r/videos a few times.
It was a website some years ago, I think it was featured in a deep web browsing video by SomeordinaryGamer but I haven't been able to find it. Despite being on a deep web video you could easily access the site through google and it wasn't anything "scary" or illegal.
The site was very obviously influenced by Serial Experiments Lain which is an anime from some time ago, it had 2 pictures of the girl from the series in the background and had some funky vaporwave in the background, the song was similar to 2814.
The website claimed that our souls were backed up in a server which stored our souls allowing us to be reincarnated after death, but due to overpopulation there was no longer any space left. The solution was to get a bigger server, the website was basically made for signing up for the new server ensuring that your soul wouldn't be lost. There was a certain deadline but I can't remember the date.
After the deadline the site turned into a forum were you could talk to others whose souls now resided in the new server.
The signup was also odd, you couldn't simply enter your email and a password, no you had to draw a picture of anything to ensure you were real and then you could have been accepted into the site. there was a page on the site featuring all the pictures other members drew to join.
That's pretty much all I can remember, I would really like to see if the forum is alive.
I don't remember much, but I seem to recall it was on the SciFi channel. In particular I remember this one scene where he sticks this alien hair clip thing on his wrist and it clamps down. The alien had human features but was totally pale if I recall. It could have been a mini series as well.
