You gonna tell me that achieving citizenship doesn’t require more effort and commitment than just becoming a permanent resident?
You don’t think it’s easier to get PR than full citizenship?
Well I guess since a requirement of becoming a citizen is that you also have to be a permanent resident, technically citizenship is harder because it includes everything you did to become a permanent resident PLUS the extra time to qualify as a citizen.
But becoming a citizen once you've already succeeded in becoming a permanent resident actually doesn't require all that much further effort, and the application process is primarily based on whether you've been in Canada for 3 out of 5 years and managed to stay out of trouble with the law.
I don't mean to trivialize the process of becoming a citizen; far from it. It does require a big commitment to Canada to do this, but I guess my point is that becoming a permanent resident is ALSO quite a commitment, and is probably a lot harder than you realise. On top of that, there's an ongoing commitment of residency requirements in order to remain a permanent resident. Becoming a citizen actually takes this burden away - staying long term in Canada with PR status is also a significant commitment that I feel is often overlooked by people who don't understand what it takes to become one.
becoming a permanent resident is ALSO quite a commitment
becoming a permanent resident is ALSO quite a commitment
I know several people who are waiting to get their PR before they can leave to go back to their home country. We have too many citizens of convenience and permanent "residents" of convenience.
Well I hope they know that if they want to keep their permanent resident status they’ll have to come back and live in Canada for at least 2 years within the next 5. Otherwise they’re wasting their time.

It's because it's heavily advertised right now, and it's actually pretty good so people are talking about it to their friends (which further advertises it).
Cars stopping for pedestrians. Try stepping out onto the street in front of cars at an intersection in some other cities, and see how long it takes you before you're in the hospital.
Baseball isn't non-stop action, so I think you could watch a few games at once and still not miss anything at all. You could bump it up to maybe 4 or 5 but you're going to start having too many times when actual action is happening simultaneously so I think that's starting to push it.
But I don't think you need to line them up back to back to be considered to have "watched" every game.
At first I thought the title made no sense, but then I saw the throw and that made no sense either, so I guess it works out.
How does rain go though the roof? Isn't that explicitly what the roof is supposed to prevent?
Guys, I don't know quite how to say this, but I think the Red Sox might be a good team and the Blue Jays might be a bad team.
It's only the 6th, we're already winning, and he's our best hitter. Not the time to lift him
I'm not sure anyone could actually lift him.
Yeah but this one had like the logo all over it too in silver
Got a silver sharpie?
Gum walls and cream cheese hot dogs. Does every Seattle attraction sound like a dirty sex maneuver?
Try the Clam Chowder.
I choose to believe that Hazel Mae is the head of the Illuminati and has a spy everywhere in the world.
Well then how come she never seems to know when the gatorade shower is coming? If she was so smart, she'd have the inside word on that and avoid getting doused all the time.
Or maybe that's all part of the ruse? Hmmmmm.....
To be fair he would still have been safe even if he'd dogged it. I agree ground balls must be run out especially in high leverage situations though.
Not dogging it potentially puts just that tiny little bit of extra pressure on the third baseman to get the throw away quickly, which might have been enough to cause the error. I think we agree in general, just wanted to add that though.
Nah, now I'm thinking I'm just here to identify the douche in the crowd lol
Let me know when you run out of troll food, I'm still hungry.
Of course you are, a douche's job is never done. Everyone has their role, at least you know yours.
And a white knight always has to post the last word. I'll give you that next if you want it.
Enjoy the heat.
So how did they score it? Was he scored as out trying to reach third? Or did he "successfully" reach third and then get put out on the third base line (and what would you even call that?).
If you lined up all the months in Vancouver from best to worst, November isn't even in the line. It's just lurking way in the back, killing puppies and insulting your grandmother. November is the month that is forced to be tolerated by people that live here while we pine for literally any other month, and to come here voluntarily in November is an exercise in masochism. :)
That is a pretty accurate description of November pretty much anywhere, and is the burden I bear as a November baby. I’ll take rain over Edmonton cold
Oh, you're coming from Edmonton. That's different, and potentially even an upgrade. It's always funny when we get people from California asking about coming that time of year, heh.
It’s like with the old phone tones. We thought they are great, paid for the download and now we found them so annoying
Jays fans 6 hours ago: WHO THE FUCK IS MIKE HAUSCHILD AND WHY IS HE ON OUR ROSTER?
Jays fans 2 hours ago: UGH HAUSCHILD IS COMING IN IT'S ALL OVER NOW.
Jays fans now: WE NEVER DOUBTED BLUE JAYS LEGEND MIKE HAUSCHILD FOR A SECOND!
Jays fans when he's traded next week: I CAN'T BELIEVE WE DIDN'T GET TWO POSITION PLAYERS AND A BAG OF TOP 5 PROSPECTS FOR HIM, THIS FRONT OFFICE IS FUCKING GARBAGE.
Oh, shit he's hurt, now I feel bad for laughing.
Biagini owes Travis a beer or 5.
Buck, like, 3 god damn minutes ago: "Bluejays put their best defensive team on the field with the lead".
The way this night is going, he might get the damn thing
The way your night is going, he'll probably find a way to get a 5 run home run too somehow.
Well he's up to bat again in the same inning, with another 2 runners on base... tune in now...
No wonder Jim would have drafted Hughes over Zadina.
That's Stanley Cup Finalist Sbisa, thankyou very much.
Its like when mumps went around the NHL
I think I recall that someone made a team out of players that got the mumps, and it would have been quite a contender.
that's a green roller...too smooth out the ground. Here's pretty rad video with one
Is that an ad for a green roller or did someone just win it on a TV game show?
Also not a baseball fan. Does he still get paid a solid amount or how does that work?
Yup, he still gets his 20 million per year salary.
I don't know what you consider a solid amount, but that seems pretty solid to me.
I also just moved to Vancouver from Perth last year. My mobile phone bill doubled, and my hourly wage halved.
Bet you're sick of everyone complaining about how "hot" it is right now too, yeah?
Yeah, but Canada is sparsely populated.
Yeah, but Canada is huge.
Yeah, but we have less network operators and competition.
I think we're just being fucked in the ass.
As an Australian living in Canada I say this quite a lot, about more than just phone plans. Canadians often just have no idea how much they're being fucked because they only compare themselves to the USA. Phone plans, minimum wages, health care wait times, and mandatory vacation, just off the top of my head.
Atkins and Shapiro have mishandled essentially every transaction or non-transaction they've been involved in. Edwin, Donaldson, Happ, Morales, and now this.
Just a terrible start to their tenure after excitement was at an all time high under AA.
All time high?
Found the guy who wasn't watching in 1992/1993.
Sorted by new to try and get actual information, and all I see is people saying what a fucking awful trade it is.
DO YOU ALL KNOW SOMETHING I DON'T? SHARE IT PLEASE, OR MAYBE WAIT FOR THE FULL STORY.
What happens if he's convicted before the season's done?
Jays win the trade I guess?
