Yeah Sweden is like that.

Sweden would extradite him to the US.

Except the US didn't even want him. There was never a grand jury, indictment, nor even any official talk of brining him to the United States to prosecute for, I don't even know, something. FOX News and the right-wing media, ironically, was the only one circlejerking themselves to death over prosecuting him. Neither the Bush nor Obama administrations ever gave him any note.

The US is reviving a campaign to seek the arrest of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange as part of a broader crackdown against the unauthorised disclosure of classified information, said attorney-general Jeff Sessions.

The arrest of Mr Assange was a “priority” for the US Department of Justice, he said. “We are going to step up our effort and already are stepping up our efforts on all leaks,” he told a press conference in El Paso, Texas. “This is a matter that has gone beyond anything that I’m aware of . . . So, yes, it is a priority. Whenever a case can be made, we will seek to put some people in jail.”

The woman is actually a transgender woman. I wonder which prison will she be sent to by the state if she were to go to jail for this.

It wasn't a war, it was just mass murder by Israel.

First off, Israel and Hamas have now agreed to a cease-fire. Secondly, what definition of mass murder are you using? I wasn't aware that a war where up to half of the Palestinian dead may have been combatants was mass murder.

When you cage a million humans in a ghetto and slaughter them by the thousands for sport and target practice I call that mass murder. What Israel is doing to its Gaza ghetto is no more morally defensible than what he Germans did to their Warsaw ghetto.

A pretty large portion of Eastern Ukraine has extensive coal deposits IIRC, so, that much I would wager.

Coal is a dead industry, there's very little future profits in coal.

I am Vietnamese and my father was a Captain in the ARVN. I always grew up thinking that the North were the "bad guys". After watching this documentary and reading up a bit more, I realize it's just a sad war in general and the U.S had no business being there. If the U.S had not meddled, it seems the conflict would have resolved itself pretty quickly with the exact same ending.

However, I wouldn't be here in the states if the U.S didn't get involved so...I can't say much lol.

If the US had not blocked the reunification election there might not have been any war at all.

Yes however i would argue that the negative outcome from communist occupation is greater than the negative outcome from the war

Hardly. Vietnam is under a communist government today and is far, far better off than US allies like the Philippines.

Just compare India and China, they were very similar in 1950 India was even very slightly richer. Today India is 40 years behind China.

Then hydro. Need electric car plus 100k in solar array.

My friend bought a used Nissan leaf for $9k only for commuting and spends $800 extra on electricity a year, before he was spending $5k on gas. The leaf has pretty much paid for itself in 2 years.

A lot of people here seem to think this is a big gotcha but honestly this is probably good for Trump to distract against the Russia coverage. This is about the least shocking thing about Trump.

With the climates they inhabited it seems like this would be a necessity.

In my opinion, it depends on your current income. If your current annual income is 0, then I would invest focussing on blue chip dividend stocks and try to build yourself something akin to an annuity. A 4% dividend from energy or banking (Royal and TD around around 3.5%, Scotia is around 4.5% right now) would give you about 36k in annual income without any withdrawal of your original 900k. That’s not going to be fun money but it’s like having your rent paid for in Toronto.. permanently. Then go off and build your career without the concern of having to pay for a roof over your head.

Buying a house isn’t a bad investment in this market (assuming a Toronto, I don’t know other Canadian markets) but you’d need ongoing outside income to pay for upkeep and property tax.

Off the top of my head, that’s how I think I’d handle it.

And that 36k is only taxed at capital gains rates which means it's the equivalent of around 45k of employment income.

It gets much harder.

Looks like Doug pissed off a lot of the MAGAtards in the comments.

Quick question- doesn't this make Iran far more likely to return to Russian sphere of influence?

Why would Israel want that.

Israel is desperate for a US invasion of Iran.
