Exactly my point.

The amount of political vitriol is depressing. Santorum took a pic with someone he probably didn't know and I'm supposed to hate him or think is is part of the Russia conspiracy now? This is why we can't have rational discussions.

Oh, there are plenty of other reasons to hate him. This is just fun.

My daughter didn't grow any eye brows till she was about 4 or 5. Very light blonde hair but they weren't light, they were non-existent. Just like mom. I have no natural tail on either side, the men in my family cannot grow a beard either.

Ahhh thank you!!! Feedback like this is so fantastic 💕

I like the shape as it is. Right now this is the shape that seems to be everywhere. High arch with shorter tails. I like the shorter tail as it keeps from dragging your face down. It brings the eyes up so the viewer looks closer to the actual eye and not the sides of the face with the tails pointing down lower. If that makes any sense.

You also have the option of painting them on the inside of the jar instead of the outside. If you think they will not be used with water and just as a decoration with dried or fake flowers or other things, I'd paint it on the inside of the jar to minimize the scratching.

Martha Stewart has a collection of paints Sold at Michaels crafts store, and a lot of them are good to be used on glass

Yep, I have used the sea glass one that is opaque, matte and has a bit of a texture. I used a glass vase I bought at Michael's as well and it is on my shelf 6 years later, with the same dried flowers in it. It's not used as anything but a decoration, not an active vase that gets washed or filed with water so that may be part of it. I was pleased with the paints. I also did not use a sealer with them.

That’s a beautiful shady place! It has lots of potential! Add some astilbe you won’t regret it.

THANK YOU!!!

I have been looking to ID this plant for months now. I see it in a front yard when I'm walking to work everyday and it's so pretty! I'm excited that it is a shade plant as my entire front yard is shady. Thanks for the ID and the recommendation!

The one on the right is a hibiscus.

I've not found anything that definitively identifies the photo on the right as an hibiscus. There are so many different types from what I can tell so you may be right but I'm not convinced.
Thanks for replying.

Thanks for the condescension, that was totally necessary. We are probably thinking of things on different levels so why don't you fill me in on all the products sold at the store in the US that claim to be innocuous but are poisoning people left and right?

0 points · 1 day ago

Why would anyone sell such a product if the use of said product was poisonous?? Did one of your friends tell you it was poison because it's not organic? If using it made fruit harmful the public would find out REALLY quickly and the public outcry would cause the company to pull the product from the shelves. People have been using MG for decades successfully. It may not be the best product to use for everyone in every situation but it certainly is not harmful if used according to the package directions.

It sucks, I know. I lost both of my closest friends in the last couple of years after realizing that the only reason they even hang around me is for what they can get out of me. Any time I asked for anything, I get a last minute cancel with a shitty excuse. So I cut off contact. If your friendship involves only their agenda being filled with no thought to you at all except in how you can help them achieve their goals, then they're not friends with you. They are friends with what you can do for them. I may not have any close female friends anymore, but at least I'm no longer being taken advantage of and being used. Honestly, the older I get, the more it becomes apparent that almost everyone only cares about their own agenda. I'd like to find one person who is honestly and truly a kind, compassionate and understanding person. Sorry, I am a bit jaded/bitter about this unfortunately.

Original Poster1 point · 15 hours ago

Aw, I'm sorry that happened to you. :( I'm actually pretty jaded myself since I've had a fair number of friends stab me in the back or otherwise be shitty. This friend isn't like that at all. She's very sweet and she's always there to hang out and have fun. I guess doing the work we were doing (which would involve getting a bit dirty) just isn't her cup of tea and fair enough. Another friend said she'd help out and she did, even coming by after work to do so.

I'm not really upset that she doesn't like doing dirty work, I'm just upset that she offered to help then messaged us the night before to say she couldn't because she was doing something else now (which was going to a pool party.) Her posting pictures from that was just the icing on the cake and whenever she posted one I'd be like, "Oh nice. We're busy working" because I'm petty lol

I'm not really that annoyed anymore, it was just a pissoff at the time.

Completely understandable though. Next time you have a pool party you know who not to invite. LOL. If you want to be petty that is. I vote for no and moving on. It's always better to forgive people for being human. It might be us one day asking for that forgiveness.

Uh, no, it's actually a pretty shitty thing to do to make fun of someone with a life-threatening mental illness. You might wanna step back and reassess if this was something you really wanted to publicly say.

Uh EXCUSE ME but maybe you should step back a re-read my comment. I was being VERY OBVIUOSLY sarcastic about the making fun of, which was apparent when I said "THAT'S a reason to make fun of their appearance, let me tell you". I agree with you and my entire comment was about having compassion and kindness for people who are struggling. Did you not read anything past that sarcasm making fun of other people who make cruel comments???? I edited my comment for people who are too ignorant and to read past the first line.

Yikes. Your backtrack is very combative. If you weren't intending on being rude before, you have to be now.

Many people on this website have very ironic and conflicting opinions they will share in one breath. If you are sarcastic, there's the off chance that if it's not clear enough, people will take the words you say as the words you say. This up in arms response makes this back and forth even more cringey. This definitely could have resolved in a peaceful way, but you chose to Uh EXCUSE ME???????? then implied I was ignorant.

Well, it IS pretty ignorant to comb through threads to find comments that trigger so you can immediately bark at people before you even read the entire comment. But that wasn't my intention, just your assumption. I was pushing for understanding and compassion and you bit my head off thinking I was saying the opposite so EXCUSE ME for reacting to a lunatic. I can comment in any way I feel even if YOU think it's rude, I really do not care what you think about anything so please find something better to do with your time, at least something that you're better at anyway.

5 & 10 look like Mugwort to me, same plant in both pics. the yellow flowers appear in the Spring but they don't always bloom for some reason. I see this on the side of roads all across the state. It is medicinal and can be dried and burned like incense.

Original Poster1 point · 19 hours ago

Thanks! After googling I agree that 10 is mugwort, and it supports butterflies and moths. I'm not sure about #5 yet, but there are a lot of plants in the mugwort family so it's possible.

Yeah, the leaf pattern/shape may vary across different varieties of the same plant so who knows! I used to have it in my back yard and I remember the yellow flowers every year.

Spider plants prefer to be pot bound, unlike most other plants. Within reason of course. If the pot is only 2 inches and the plant is huge, then yes of course it needs a bigger one. But an average sized spider plant in a 8-10 inch pot would be fine.

Original Poster1 point · 20 hours ago

True, I just can't realistically move it up next to the window. I would love it to get more light though. Maybe that's why it's not doing well. Does artificial lamp light count or does it need to be UV?

ZZ plants do amazing in little to no light, maybe try that if you have no available windows instead of trying to make a plant that needs light survive in very little.

It's a Physalis sp., but it might not be happy as a houseplant- unfortunately, indoor growing isn't as simple as finding a plant you like and bringing it inside. Lots of plants just can't do it- the home is not a good environment for plants. Most common houseplants are tropical plants from the forest understory, meaning they can tolerate the conditions of the home quite well- little to no wind, minimal seasonal difference in temperature, and low light levels being the biggest obstacles to plant growth. Your plant might be a temperate full sun species, which requires wind, a seasonal change in temperature, and lots of light. In addition, some plants are annuals and will die shortly after setting seed no matter what. The plant usually will self- seed nearby and its offspring will come up in spring. If your plant is a perennial, it will need the change in temps in order to go dormant. Dormancy is like a plant's version of sleep- the plant rests and gathers energy for the next growing season.

I see people trying to grow veggies and fruit indoors in front of a tiny ass window in a 3 inch pot and I'm just like "Happy you like the hobby but you are just going to be disappointed when this does not work and assume you cannot garden when you only needed a bigger pot and to do it outside". I wish I could upvote you 100 times.

Yep, sometimes I don't get why people can't just be happy with something that looks pretty. It's not like they're expecting their dog or cat to hunt, why are they expecting their plants to give them food?

I get that it's a fun thing to do, but there is just so much more to it than putting a seed in soil and sticking it on the window sill. Every year I learn something new that I never knew before. The fact that they are destined to fail makes me sad that they will probably not try again. But yeah, you should try to start out simple and not waste a ton of money trying to grow a garden in your city window, lol. Flowers are hard enough to keep alive as it is sometimes!

Yes, it is. I have the same one in the back of my work parking lot that I have been trying to root cuttings of for the last 2 years. I was successful last year, but it did not survive the winter so I am trying again. This time I will be wintering it in the shed instead of the plastic green house.

The seeds that have fallen in our yard grew like weeds this spring! Maybe try planting (or transplanting) seedlings rather than trying to root the cuttings.

I have looked but I have yet to see a seed pod on my side of the chain link fence at the end of the parking lot. The tree is on the other side in the back of someone's yard. You should have seen me reaching up and trying to grab the end of a branch to break off some new growth to root! lol

Even though my mom has ultimately come to be accepting of me being transgender, she spouted off a lot of what I'm reading in this thread. I get it. It can be really invalidating, and it really hurts. Yeah, I agree. Ignorance is simply not being informed. It does not mean they are dumb. People of a certain generation are ignorant of these things so it's not surprising when they come out with ignorant comments. They need to be educated so that they better understand. It all depends on whether they are willing to be educated or prefer to remain ignorant because THAT is one thing that is a choice.

Yep, you can recognize Columbine by the neat brown seed pods they produce, you can see one at the top of your picture. They are annuals but they readily reseed themselves every year and may even spread past where you want them to, but they are so pretty it's ok. :)

It's in a pot that is way too small and has no drainage. If course it's dying. repot into a larger pot (not too large, 6-8 inches should work) that has drain holes. Use new potting soil and it should be fine as long as there are still roots alive. When you carefully and gently remove it from this hanging... thing, examine the roots. If any are black and slimy and smell, they are dead so snip them off. Any white, firm roots are healthy and should indicate that the plant still has life left. Good luck!

2 points · 20 hours ago

Tell them that they need to pinch off those flowers because they indicate that the plant is about to die, much like basil. Or if you just walked by the yard and do not know them, for your future reference, always pinch back any flowers coleus produces. They are small and not really pretty and the plant only puts them out when it is stressed and ready to die so that hopefully the seeds it produces will propagate when the plant is dead. It may be a lack of water or too much sun/high heat but the plant is stressed out if it is producing flowers.

This is a really pretty one!!

Spiro like spironolactone? That is a really hefty medication that can seriously wack out your blood pressure/chemistry and mess with your coordination too. It’s not surprising to me that doctors are unwilling to write for it for off label use, especially for someone who is specifically asking for it/views it as “a club.” Christ almighty

My daughter tried it and all it did was make her puke constantly. Or maybe that was the antibiotic. Either way, neither helped and taking both made her feel miserable. I still have 3 bottles of it in my cabinet that I got filled for her before I knew she stopped taking it.

Everyone here already said what needs to be said and I hope you listened. NOTHING is ever free. NO ONE is ever going to give anything away for free and there is no access to easy money to anyone, EVER. Use common sense. Even if a person is dead, there is someone who has been appointed to control the dead persons' assets. That person is keeping a close eye on the accounts. Someone is anyway, no money is ever left gathering dust that no one is looking after.

Yeah they do have various items in different stores. I have three large stores in my area and I stop by all of them depending on where I am. They almost all have the same stuff but that stuff is different from what a store on the other side of the country would have, I assume.

Ugh lucky. My dollar trees don’t have name brand. Only a weird generic pack. I tried the generic out and the bristles fell off in your mouth.

That's weird. I have bought the generic ones also and never had that experience. They had a set with like 6 brushes around a plastic cup you could put on your sink and they all worked fine. Maybe not lasted very long and went out of shape fast but no loss of bristles.

Have you not seen the ad? You can use the spray to fix the watering can. It just takes a few layers.

2 points · 1 day ago

I don't have cable, so no I have not. The way the can has cracked in a horizontal line with the top bulging out over the bottom (think buck teeth) makes me think the tape will work better. It can hold the top and bottom together whereas the spray will just sit on top of it. It would take too many layers but just one piece of tape. Hopefully.

The good thing is that through self knowledge, therapy, self-help etc we can learn this about ourselves before we have kids, and really mitigate repeating the cycle.

60 points · 1 day ago

You can try, but when you are suddenly faced with a teenager that is acting in a way you never expected, you never know how you will react until you are in that situation. No matter how much you have studied or gone to therapy one day you too will hear your mother or father coming out of your mouth. It happens to the best of us, even those of us who have sworn to never be anything like our parents. It's almost like there is a genetic factor out of our control... hahaha. I'm not saying you can't improve on your parents parenting style, of course you can and should. But it happens anyway. Even if for a brief moment, it comes out.

Edit: to clarify, I'm not referring to abuse or any such thing. Just the statements they used to say, phrases and such.

12 inch pot is WAY too small for a traditional size tomato plant. Maybe a patio or dwarf variety or a cherry tomato will do ok, but anything other than that will not thrive or even survive. I guarantee that any fruit that does set will have blossom end rot. Most likely the flowers will drop before they are fertilized and there will be no fruit. I have been growing tomatoes in my backyard for over 10 years mainly in containers and have had zero luck with anything smaller than 10 gallons. They sell 7 gallon grow bags that some people have had luck with but I have no personal experience with them and doubt they will hold up to a full sized plant at the end of August with a full root system.

So repot into a much larger container ASAP and you should be ok. It's early enough for them to recover from any transplant shock and the plants look healthy otherwise. You may also want to look for a blossom end rot treatment/fertilizer and add some of that when you repot to ward off any issues that may have already started with the plants' inability to uptake water. This causes the plant to not be able to absorb the proper amount of calcium and that causes the BER.

Once you pop that bad boy out of that pot you will see the root system and know what we are talking about. They have extensive root systems, imagine the plant size you have now but turn it upside down and the size of the plant is equal to the size of the root system. I hope that makes sense, to give you an idea of how big the root ball is.

Good luck!!!
