Though I think Tez Cruz is the last person with mentioning but his suggestion of doubling the number of immigration judges from 350 to 700 wasn't as bad comparatively. At least those people will be able to present their case.

America at its best, let's execute a mentally ill person cuz we are so vindictive.

I mean, Hitler was mentally ill. I'd argue most evil people are.

Because I didn't want to take part in the anthem? A lot of very functional countries don't sing a national anthem before starting their school day. But if you're referring to me as a person, no I enjoy civility and order, I just don't like when something feels cultish. We all have to pledge allegiance to a flag as children? How about I grow up, get the facts, and then determine if I want to pledge allegiance. Making children blindly pledge allegiance when they know nothing about the world is ridiculous.

I care very deeply about this country, I don't give a shit about the anthem.

Do you say the same thing about the NFL players who kneel?

I doubt there's many NFL players shitposting on Reddit

That wasn't an attack on you, just an observation I've made from other people.

I guess the point I'm trying to put across is, if you can HEAR that something is over-compressed for your liking, then that is fair. But a lot of people tend to look at the dynamic range stats and use that as discussion point when they wouldn't have had any clue otherwise.

I personally dislike any overt uses of compression (such as that pumping effect that can occur depending on compressor speed) that create significantly audible effects. That can be fatiguing to me. However, although those obviously have an eventual impact on dynamic range, that's a completely separate thing to what happens at the end of mastering (where the most transparent uses of limiting occurs).

I'm curious to what Radiohead songs/albums to you sound too compressed. Forget the stats or anything, I'd rather hear your opinions on specific things you hear which you dislike. I agree in that I dislike albums where it feels like you're holding your breath throughout the whole song, but I disagree that the dynamic range of the recordings is the most significant reason for that. Dynamics come from a lot of things and you can still have songs that feel dynamic without actually having a lot of dynamic range (obviously I'm assuming here that it isn't OVER-compressed). Likewise, you can have a recording with a ton of dynamic range but it'll feel flat if they aren't actually any dynamics in the actual song itself.

I've heard many albums that were victims of the loudness war, so I understand the dangers of it but I personally don't think most of the Radiohead albums fall into that category. But feel free to give examples if you think otherwise.

Have you heard Burn the Witch? That song sounds like it could have been on Death Magnetic

REALLY?? Was it really believable before that point? I can believe a dog gifting you food, especially food it has no interest in eating, but it wouldn’t go out looking for potatoes. Were they on the ground??? And whats with the pill bottles? that makes even less sense (unless he was trained to do it, which raises even more questions, because it’s stupid).

Totally believable

Edit: Prove me wrong fuckwits. Service dogs don’t even work like that. No service dog is trained to drop your medicine on the ground. Not one of you have actually proven me wrong, but noo, this guy who is BSing through his nose has it right. I thought this sub was dedicated to obvious BS stories, but you all acting like experts without a simple google search is just ironic.

In America our propaganda is so strong we hear "African American women are the fastest growing HIV positive population" well yeah they went from 5 to 500. If you just count toe tags its IV drug use and anonymous gay sex that gets you. Sorry not quite relevant but on my mind.

They get the benefit of the job/wages negotiated by the union. If they don't want the union job, they could choose to find another...the vast majority of jobs in the US are not union jobs.

Moist_Daddy -9 points

If they're not represented by a union, they negotiate their own contracts.

JesusDrinkingBuddy 11 points

Except even what they negotiate will be relative to what the union gets. They are in a stronger bargaining position by the existence of the union.

Moist_Daddy -7 points

Well yes, I suppose it's relative in that you could look at both numbers and calculate the difference, but that seems beside the point.

Not murdering people is basic human morality , its nothing to do with identity politics.

Holding a arbitrary group of people responsible for the crimes of an individual because they share the same genitals, skin colour, or social class is identity politics.

Moist_Daddy 1 point

It's not arbitrary, men commit the vast majority of killings

SeniorBrilliant 6 points

Fuck this kind of identity politics.

How would someone react if a politician response to this was

“What we must do as we grieve is ensure that we change the hearts of women to respect there children.” He said Australia needed to start “with the youngest women, the little girls, our daughters and granddaughters”.

Moist_Daddy 3 points

Apparently the idea of respecting and not killing women is considered identity politics now.

It's called a compressor, what are you even doing here?

HoodTube 1 point

Haha, compressor. The answer to everything. Find any guitar, OP, any one at all, doesn't matter, and also any amp. Then stick a compressor on it and it'll sound just like the record... Jesus.

It's not that difficult. Turn up the release and crank the gain until it barely starts clipping. This is noob stuff

That's why they sound terrible

BassBeerNBabes 4 points

Tell me again how terrible All 'n' All, or Dark Side of the Moon, or even Sargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band sounds "terrible" with the panning choices made by their engineers.

edit: You have to remember that back then people listened to music to actually experience the soundscape. Modern music leaves much to be desired when it comes to drastic and dynamic stereo events.

Moist_Daddy 0 points

Are you joking? Sgt Pepper had a terrible stereo mix that was done without any input from the Beatles. That's why it was remixed last year.

Eh. Partially, inciting hatred also leads to people getting hurt. Their rights not to be lynched trump yours calling them names imo. Voicing opinions is one thing, advocating violence is another.

No, hurting people leads to people getting hurt.
