Hey guys! New to the sub and a new Switch owner. Fiance and I got our Switch so we'd have some games to play together (I usually play Xbox). We picked up Odyssey and Mario Kart, and I'm planning on getting Zelda this week.
I have two quick questions.
What are some good local multiplayer games that might be fun for us to play? Preferably split-screen
Can the Switch 'do' more than play games? As in, can I hook up my hard drive and watch Game of Thrones? Can it run older Nintendo games? Stuff like that.
Sorry for the rookie questions, loving the system so far and looking forward to learning more about it.
Welcome to the Nintendo Switch family! For great local multiplayer games you might want to take a look at Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Snipperclips: Cut It Out, Together, or one of our many third party offerings!
Either a Pro Controller or a second set of JoyCons will work. The console comes with a single grip that allows JoyCons detached from the console to be put into a case that makes them feel like a more traditional controller however the second JoyCon pair that is extra.
Something else to keep in mind is the JoyCons can be put into optional cases/shells to give them an appearance similar to a steering wheel. It also improves the grip somewhat for games like Mario Kart and helps younger kids understand the mechanic of one of the control schemes. It might be worth picking those up.
Exactly this. For your younger ones you might consider turning on the Smart Steering and Auto-accelerate modes until they gain familiarity with the courses and gameplay of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe!
