Not the crowd itself, but he said in his 4 years of roo, he had never seen the what stage so crowded on a Sunday. He did get some great pics from front and center.

Damnnnn I need a pic of the crowd so bad I’m trying to prove to my friends how packed it was because I was in the pit 😭😭😭

Wow when did you get in the pit line, Thursday morning? Lol everytime I went by it was LONG. I was probably 25 yards from the stage, a little upset that I wasn’t closer, until I looked back and saw totems packed tight all the way to the big orange wall.

Great post. As a 23 year old in a 46 year olds body, I really relate to most of what you said here.

Though I could converse with you about everything you mentioned, I don’t feel like typing it all, so I’ll leave it at this: high five HAPPY ROOOOOOOOOO!!!!

That’s a good place to start. Nothing more exciting that topwater fishing.

I fostered a troller once. Great dog

Trick to casting heavier flies?

I target smallmouth and bluegill, mostly, but I’ll throw a larger fly for largemouth from time to time. I never had problems before I started double hauling. I get way more line out now, but almost every time without fail my fly hits my line on my final cast and just falls drops out of mid air tangled in my line. Any advice would be great.

I should have asked this question first---what weight rod are you using? I would say a go-to rod for most largemouth would be an 8wt.

5wt 9ft. Like I said, I’m mostly fishing for mediocre sized smallies and big bream, an 8wt would be overkill for my main uses.

Unless it is a super fast action rod, like a TFO BVK or Fenwick Aetos, you are most likely at the upper limit of what the rod can cast.

I like catching smallies with a 5wt, but I can tolerate fishing for them with a 6wt. If I am on big open water, I will use an 8wt any time I have to cast more than 15m (45')

Even little bass poppers suck to cast with a whiff of wind with a 6wt. With the wind resistance, it is really hard to generate the line speed needed to propel them. I would use a 7.5' 1X tapered leader. Bass are not generally too picky.

With the heavy flies, like a clouser, you are limited to what you can pick up and shoot with a single backcast. When you start over-loading a rod, you get bouncing. No amount of double hauling will overcome the fact that you simply cannot generate the line speed needed to keep a heavy fly like a clouser suspended during the cast with a 5wt because of the amount of time it takes for the rod to fully load. A heavy fly takes more time to load the rod. While the rod is loading, gravity is still pulling the fly downwards.

An 8wt might be overkill, but that is generally what it takes to cast a largie fly.

Thanks for the input. I have a TFO Lefty Kreh signature. Also bass fishing is the only time I’m trying to work out more than 25-30ft of line.

Rattltraps. I start with red, then sexy shad, then all chrome. Chatterbaits in natural patterns, usually bluegill to start. Chartreuse and white or black and blue for dirtier water.

I found a lure in an antique store that was phallic shaped. Topwater style like a spook, but the back of it was a removable rubber cap and it was $20 so I passed on it

I think once a bass is over 26in, they can potentially be 10lb. My PB is 28 inches, didn’t have a scale, and people were telling me it was maybe 6-8lbs. I’ve caught plenty of 5-7lbers scaled and none over 24 inches to know that an extra 4 inches is a lot of weight. I’d say the one you caught is at least 9, possibly pushing 10.

On the opposite spectrum, every fish I've ever caught over 22" was skinny as hell. Always pissed me off seeing a long bass and it being way too lean.

A friend of mine caught a 27in at my honey hole and she was starved. If she was fat she woulda been around 10. He had a scale and it was just under 6.

I only see a handful of edm artists each year. And I strongly support this movement

I would if I wasn’t out of town. Definitely bummed to be missing WSMFP. Enjoy your self. Mud island is a fun venue. Go to the New Daisy afterwards, big EDM after party

Seen old crow 4 times and they are, IMO, one of the most fun live bands. Very high energy shows. The Sturg is a legend. Roo was my first time seeing him, and I was not in the least bit disappointed.

That’s a slab sunfish. What state are you in?

My friend introduced my rod to my ceiling

The very tip of my rod snapped last night. TFO rod. Broke just below the guide, maybe 1/10th of an inch of the rod is exposed below the guide wrap. This should be an easy fix, right?

TFO has a lifetime warranty on most of their rods. If your confidence level is not high on a repair, you can always send it in to be fixed (probably replaced as they are not american made rods).

Minus the repair fee and shipping you will be good to go. Though you will be rodless for a week or so. Unless you are spastic like the rest of us and have like nine back up rods.

I bought the rod second hand, don’t have a receipt or anything. I guess contacting them is my best move if I want to send it in

Met 2 fellow roovians today!

Went to help out my friend run a disc golf tournament in Memphis. One guy was wearing his wristband and came in from Chattanooga and the other guy is from Memphis and has been 8 years now. Both commented on my shirt. Pretty small world. 2/72 people plus myself

Ha. I'm pretty sure you met one of my friends from Chatt. He posted Snapchat videos of that tournament

Too busy dancin to watch I guess.

This was by far they’re lowest energy performance I’ve seen. Usually they’re all running around the stage switching instruments. I was on just behind the rail behind the pit dancing my ass off though

I’m worried I won’t be able to go next year. Pretty sure the big tournament at the golf course I work at will be on the same weekend. The last 2 years I’ve gone straight from roo to a 60+ hour week, next year I’ll be working a 60+ hour week instead of being on the farm

I was right next to the person with the parasol totem. Sturg killed it. Hell of a way to celebrate his 40th!

They’re my favorite band ever. Every time I see them I go solo, it’s just what I like to do. But I found a pretty girl and we danced and sang every song, and I never saw her again. Bonnaroo is a very magical place.

Is this why wet can’t bring alternative means of transportation?

I had the least fun at Future, but I’m the only one in my group that isn’t a Brad/Chad/Stacy. Also Rich Brian wasn’t great, he kept saying what’s up Nashville. Time and time again. And his hype man was kinda annoying. Then again, hes a teenager who literary started as a mock so I wasn’t expecting a ton.

People in front of me found a bag with a dozen joints in it at a show and gave me two of them! Also found a juul 5 minutes after someone grabbed mine at the fountain lol
