Both yes and no. Maybe dedicated servers, hosted ones, would be ideal. That way there isn't too many. Yet, keep the matchmaking system as well.

At least until our numbers increase.

I've mainly been playing TDM, and maybe 8 out of every 10 games are full, 4v4.

I have every U.S. server selected, plus 2 EU servers, usually after 4pm est.

Maybe add 1 or 2 servers to your selection, where the ping is halfway decent (I consider anything under 150 playable, to each their own).

I think this is updated regularly. The game is called The Archivist: VR. I don't have a VR headset so I haven't been able to try it but I've been having a blast making models for it

Never heard of it. Thanks for the link. Always wondered why there was never a Twin Peaks video game, even a fan made one.

Great models btw. Is that a part of the game then?

The first Syphon Filter.

The Quake fanbase is one of the toughest to win over, and it has been for a long time.

With that being said, it's only logical for the game to be in early access, with development stages. There is no chance in hell that Saber/ID can get the game "right" on its first release, especially with this community. It's not the '90s anymore, unfortunately.

Exactly. There ended up being a lot more nuance to the set up leading into the 2x rocket finish than I anticipated. That 2x rocket finish has to be nearly perfect as well.

Your location is spot on, especially during that sharp turn. Very nice.

Frank Horrigan is the only one worthy of fighting among the heroes of arena eternal (excluding the VD/CO but he is customizable so...)

Now that's a name I haven't heard in awhile.

You're right tho, probably the most intimidating character in the Fallout universe, maybe. Too bad he's not popular enough, otherwise he'd make a great Champion.

I asked this question earlier but no one seemed to care. NIN/Vrenna has more of a Quake vibe than the new music tbh.

Great update, as everyone knows. But is there a plan to bring back the old music? Or at least, toggle between the old and new music? Or some sort of jukebox option?

Personally, I prefer Chris Vrenna since I've been a NIN fan since '93 and industrial rock/metal is one of my favorite subgenres. But the new music isn't terrible, it just doesn't really have a Quake vibe to it IMO.

I could always put on Winamp in the background but I like the cool down and build up of the soundtrack during a match lol.

I still have a huge collection of music that originated from Audiogalaxy!

What a great site, was much easier to get mp3s. Had a solid community too filled with garage bands that have vanished was my homepage for years. They also hosted email addresses (kind of pre-Yahoo)

It's amazing how their layout is nearly the same 20 years later.

If in theory QC takes place before Q3, Orbb is simply studying the matches and learning his way into becoming a real fighter lol.

This might be obvious, but I'm gonna ask it anyway. Can you muster up some funds within your community to purchase a small master server, and then redirect every instance to your new master server URL?

I dunno if your game searched for servers in the game itself, but you could create an external website to show the list on an HTML page, worst case scenario.

Nobody mentioned it, but I just came here to say that Xfire was an underrated and forgotten program that tracked your gaming hours neatly and had a cool chat interface. R.I.P.

I always see people posting about their favs but what about least favs, and why? I'd like to see some insight, maybe my mind can be changed. Note that I'm only level 25. I've tried every champion numerous times and here's my 3:

Clutch: I can't seem to get his air strafing down perfectly, and I feel like without that ability, I can't use him to the full extent. Plus, only the RL and RG are effective when using him, it seems. Movement seems to be key with him, and I'm a tad better with Sorlag in that aspect.

Galena: Aside from the fact that everyone seems to pick her besides Ranger, I'm just not that great with her. I think a part of it has to do with the familiarity of the maps. Besides 3 or 4 maps, I don't know the rest like the back of my hand. I'm also terrible at using the ability at close range, not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Slash: I always forget about the channeling passive ability, and even when I do use it, I can never find a good opportunity for it to be effective. I'd rather just use Anarki anyway.

ROFL, that's pretty awesome. I wish the lore was a bit more clear, but it's probably a miracle we even get this much.

It was never confirmed that canonically, QC is a prelude to Q3. But, I would like it to be. It explains a lot of things, such as Nyx being related to Mynx, Anarki getting older and sewn shut, Keel looking more like a machine in Q3, etc.

Original Poster2 points · 2 months ago

I know that I said 3, but if I had to choose a 4th, like many others, Strogg is down there too. I also can't seem to grasp his playing style, and it seems far too easy for Peeker to be destroyed.

So, does this Helmet cover actually exist? I wanted to hear it, but I can't find it anywhere whatsoever...

Just wondering if anyone from the FO1, FO2, or NV team ever acknowledged either of these mods. Gave it their blessing, advice, suggestions, etc.? They're both massive projects, and I feel like somebody, somewhere, had to have said something.

I asked a similar question a few days ago, but I'll compromise with this.

If I don't care about any of the default superstars, is there a way to replace their slots with CAWs, probably via modding? If so, I'll look up how to do it (I haven't bought the game yet, soon), just wanted to know if it can be done.

Original Poster1 point · 5 months ago

That might be okay. I just want all my CAWs/modded superstars all on the same screen, when you make a selection, instead of the balony text list that you gotta scroll thru.

I've played 2k15 and 2k16, and one thing that really bothered me was the wrestler selection screen. I hated how the CAWs were limited to just 1 little button that you had to scroll through, instead of having their own pallet screen.

With that being said, on the PC, has anyone made a mod for 2k18 to customize the selection screen? Maybe switching out the default wrestlers, at the very least, or anything similar?

I dont mean to come off snarky, but isn't it the first part of the selection menu:

So by swapping them round, your saving yourself from having to push down before A?

Not trying to come across as a jerk, just not sure I understand, as as I'm someone that primarily uses CAWs myself, I'm curious.

It's cool man. What I'm getting at, is replacing the default wrestler pallets, with CAWs. That way I don't have to use the buttons at all.

edit - I don't own 2k18 by the way. But in previous versions, if you select Custom, you would have to scroll through every superstar 1 by 1, instead of it showing a screen with everyone at once. Unless that was changed?

Cheers, sometimes I come across wrong in text :s

In 2k18, wrestler selection is done from a text list (similar to caws in older games), rather than thumbnail selection, followed by attire and manager selection as standard if that helps?

Original Poster1 point · 5 months ago

Yeah that's what I was afraid of. Thumbnail selection is 10x better than a list selection.

Not too sure if anyone remembers this game. It's from 1999 and is a FPS based on the Quake 2 engine. It was the most popular game on way back in the day, and still has an active community. Games are every Thursday and Sunday (930pm uk/430pm est). Figured it'd be worth sharing, since it's not often a '90s PC game still has active players. The site is

Thanks, I have both the original disk and the Steam version, but I'll be using the Steam version. Is this patched to 1.21?

Original Poster1 point · 7 months ago

Yeah it already is. Games are 430pm est (930pm uk) on Thu and Sun. Usually goes on for a few hours. You'll see which server via the new Gamespy Lite Browser (since Gamespy shut down, the new browser connects to a new master server).

Super friendly community, always someone there to help if need be.

I managed to find a co-op game and it joined no problems. I'll see you on there some night.

I presume there's a Discord or TS server.

Wait a minute, OpenSpy has a master server? Or is it being directed to a different place?

The vast majority of GameSpy games can be fixed that way. Problem is, sometimes it's tricky, and plus you need a new master server for games to show up (qtracker comes to mind).

DH2005 had a small community still going from what I remember, right before the shut down. Dunno about now.

Original Poster2 points · 1 year ago · edited 1 year ago

Yes, OpenSpy has a master server which is used nowadays for most GameSpy games including deer hunter. Except this specific game had an issue that didn't allow the servers to show (due to some incompatibility with OpenSpy as it reads in the original post), if it weren't for that it would have just been one of those simple hosts file edits where you make the gamespy dns's point to OpenSpy's Masterserver which I did internally from the game to make things easier for people since 2004 uses to communicate and 2005 uses dh2005.ms11.. which are not statically available in the game exe but are generated once the game is running so they're a bit difficult to find. Hope that cleared any doubts :D

I had no idea they had a server, much less still up, since development stopped ages ago. I noticed that they don't have a list of games supported, but simply says "if it worked on GS, it should work here." That's pretty intriguing to me.

It's also cool that you still care (or are bored enough lol) to care about these older games. I encounter mid-90s to mid-00s game communities struggling to stay alive all the time. I made a post here a few weeks ago ironically about old and current server browsers. Times are changing though.

Good work on the fix, I'll try it on 2005 later. I'll also see if this one old fan community is still alive (Lodge or some shit). If so, I'll direct them to this. I think before they simply had their own IP posted on the site and you'd have to do a direct connect.

Just wondering what everyone's preference is regarding server browsers nowadays, considering it's been years since GameSpy, Zone, Heat, Mplayer, etc. have all gone away.

Here's what I know so far. Am I missing any?

Guess it depends on whom is playing what, but I'm still curious..

Indeed. Matchmaking is a whole different ball game. And there have always been a long selection of server browsers, even since the mid 90s. Different games use different services lol

3 points · 1 year ago

What older PC games did you used to play? Mid '90s to mid 00's was the shit.

WWF SmackDown! 1 and 2 or WWF Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy? (unless you preferred WWF Attitude/Warzone.....)

If I ever visit Australia, what's the music scene like (in regards to the underground rap/hip hop)?

I reviewed Metal Murder 3D on FLH years ago. It was a great release man.

I know about Angry Chair and Get Born Again but I heard those are complete BS and filled with lies. I also heard mixed reactions about Untold Story. Grunge Is Dead was a good read though it focused on more than just AIC. Which one would be the best?
