I 100% agree with your sentiment but...

I would watch a DVD of Trump trying to negotiate with the Koreans every day if they aired it

...I don't think you understand how DVDs work, lol

davec79 2 points

You're right, they never put major news events on DVD so you can watch them later.

My mind is blown that people actually purchased this, but the verified reviews are there!

davec79 3 points

Well, I'd imagine to some people that was a massive event in their lives.

Yeah, like Hillary Clinton. I bet this sub was really on board with calling out that traitor, and not using its propaganda outlet to cover up her crimes.

Ok? And you are just as able to make your own shitty LARPy sub. There seems to be a massive culture of entitlement on this place.

2: No they don't!

1: Yes they do

2: Ok, yes they do, but fuck you, make your own sub.

Stellar.

Daniels's lawyer is unbelievably smart, stooping right down to trump's level and donnie is taking the bait. trump has no impulse control, and is getting played.

davec79 141 points

Anyone else with half a functioning brain would just let that news story go by. The sketch isn't of you, you aren't admitting to the affair, you've got a press office, let them do their jobs.

Nope. Not this asshole.

Ace has the BEST customer service of any hardware store in my area. But their prices are ridiculously high and they lack variety.

So I'd say I'm boycotting, but I barely shop there. And it's tough enough boycotting Home Depot since they have better tool selection than Lowes and better quality lumber.

davec79 4 points

Keep in mind that Ace Hardware stores are typically franchises. The advertising decisions come from corporate, but the stores themselves are run from smaller (relatively speaking) companies in the local area. A lot of Texas Ace Hardware stores (as well as Missouri and a few other nearby states) are owned by a company called Westlake. Boycott all you want if their prices and selection suck, but I'm not sure they had any input on whether to advertise during her show.

BossRedRanger 2 points

Points noted, but the franchisee is a business partner, not an employee. They may not direct the advertising, but they do have a voice.

davec79 1 point

Oh sure, I don't mean to imply otherwise, just adding context. And judging by the size of Westlake, I'd bet they have a stronger voice than say an owner that only has one or two stores.

I am disappointed as a Republican. Mostly because we need to make sure that a neo-Nazi isn’t on the ballot in November. I had hoped that for the good of the country and party, Ryan would stay on.

davec79 16 points

Well you're too late for that, there are literal Nazis on the ballot running as Republicans in other districts now. What's one more?

GhostBearStark_53 -6 points

Liberals are so disengenous, you point to that and convienently leave out that he filed last minute in an unopposed race

davec79 1 point

Apologies. There's a Nazi running for Congress as a Republican, and his chances of winning are very very small. Is that better?

Who cares about verbal assurances? What's the actual downside in protecting what's already proven to be a viable investigation? If there is none, than fucking do it.

davec79 1 point

"What if we protect the integrity of the investigation and it's all for nothing?"

I'm going to be a bit of a wet blanket for a second, but bear with me.

All of these R retirements may NOT be a good thing for the "blue wave".

While an incumbent is often hard to beat, the blue wave might be riding on a bit of "Let's vote this guy out!" momentum. If the incumbent Republicans retire, they can put forth a new nominee with the strategy that "You can still safely vote R, because the new guy is not a beltway insider and not part of the old Trump guard." -- and maybe ones without sex scandals other other such nonsense.

Additionally, with the Republican incumbent already "defeated", some voter apathy may creep back in. You don't have to vote the guy out, he's already out, mission accomplished -- right?

Therefore, every time there's a retirement announced -- GET MOVING MORE! Donate, volunteer, get people registered to vote and ACTUALLY VOTE.

Incumbency advantage is huge. The replacement candidate won't have a political machine in place, whomever is going to step in here will have to fundraise a shit ton of money rather quickly, hire people, hire staff, volunteers, GOTV, make local connections, etc. He or she has no policy positions, hasn't been out talking to the people, doesn't have any events lined up, doesn't have the district researched, on and on.

With less than 7 months to go, that person has to gear up extraordinarily fast, and there's already a D candidate out there raising money based on this news today. http://andrewlearned.com/

Blows me away tonight seeing that Russian news is talking about impending world war 3 in the next day or two and openly discussing Russia's options as all bad while the US News chatters about Trump scandals as if that was the biggest news of today.

Its like living in a bizzaro world at the moment.

Right? Isn't it tragic that humans are incapable of worrying about two different things at the same time?

You literally just did what you're accusing me of with your strawman. They've investigated him for two years and come up with nothing. Theyre now saying he's not even a target of the investigation anymore. Your hatred for him has blinded you to reality.

davec79 16 points

They've investigated him for two years and come up with nothing.

"Special counsel Robert Mueller’s team has either indicted or gotten guilty pleas from 19 people and three companies so far.

That group is composed of four former Trump advisers, 13 Russian nationals, three Russian companies, one California man, and one London-based lawyer. Five of these people have already pleaded guilty — the latest being former Trump campaign staffer Rick Gates, who signed a plea deal and committed to cooperate with Mueller’s investigation."

Progresspanda -2 points

None of which is connected to trump. You can't say trump is guilty because other people committed crimes. The focus is trump-russia collusion which has not been proven whatsoever.

davec79 17 points

Sure. If you ignore the fact that everyone he knows, works with, works for him, is related to, or stands next to is tied up in Russia problems, then yes, none of it is connected to him.

Read up on this, and this story is even 13 months old but pops right up if you actually look: https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/03/connections-trump-putin-russia-ties-chart-flynn-page-manafort-sessions-214868

If there were anything to this Russia business they'd have more people behind bars than some Dutch lawyer that got a 30-day sentence. This drawn-out witch hunt needs to end, it's wasting everyone's time.

Best case scenario is Democrats taking the House and the Senate. If it’s technically possible, that should always be the BEST case scenario.

I don’t think the GOP is ready for that eventuality but it explains the cash grab.

davec79 1 point

It's literally impossible. If by some miracle the Democrats win every single Senate election in 2018, there aren't enough Republican seats up for election to get them to 67.

There’s nothing in it for a good attorney. No one wants to sign up to ruin their career and reputation. And possibly have their name go into the history books as being on the losingest side in the history of losing losers...and traitors.

davec79 7 points

I would disagree, that there are attorneys out there who will defend serial killers if only to make sure that everyone is equally and fairly treated under the law...

Except:

  1. He's notorious for not paying his bills. If he was indigent, then someone would help him, but he claims to be wealthy, but refuses to pay whenever he can.

  2. He obviously doesn't listen to his attorneys. That's a nightmare scenario for an attorney. You're there to give advice and keep things running smoothly, and if your client is a stubborn man-baby, you're not going to take that client on if you can.

  3. He's a repugnant human being. He constantly talks shit about people trying to help him, and will readily throw them under the bus if he feels slighted (which I'd guess is often).

Combine that all into one person, and even the most fair minded attorney is going within a mile of this.
