Technical people. What would it take for One Tezos to reach $100 and/or $1000 by chronicideas in tezos

For Tezos to be the first third generation cryptocurrency that launches, works, and has the developed system of applications that people keep promising and no one has yet delivered.
My 63 year old mom wants to try Kratom by [deleted] in kratom
[–]kevin143 1 point2 points3 points 6 months ago (0 children)
Aspirin is the OTC painkiller that pharmacologically combines with kratom the most to actually reduce pain. If she still wants to keep her addiction in check AND works at a rehab center where it's popular, I suspect she can keep it under control. The real challenge is deciding if she wants to take it every day for chronic pain or just occasionally for bad days.
Kratom ban timing by CamelPodiatrist in kratom

<3 It's interesting data, but I mean in the weight of overwhelming evidence that Gottlieb is a shill of the opiate industry, this patent is a tiny thing that's mostly an interesting curiosity. There is no way that GSK is gonna sell crystalized mitragynine because it's a bad product compared to kratom leaf.
If the pharma companies did have a kratom related drug ready for market this instant, I think that evidence would probably help us all out.

Dude this is like every hippy dippy alcohol free party in the Bay Area, it's almost hard to get people to show up without booking a really fly band if they don't already care about kratom. Please come!
Conflict of Interest. Dr. Gottlieb works with FDA, pushing Kratom ban, developed a pharmaceutical version of Mitragyna Speciosa which was labeled safe while on GlaxoSmithKlines board. by [deleted] in kratom

This is not actually true, that was a 1964 patent from before Gottlieb was born! Killing this thread.

So as a reddit mod compared to a hacker news mod, there's no way to secretly downweight the votes on a story and make it float down faster. But it's high traffic, high energy times and this story is really confusing because it draws a proper connection of the conspiracy as it exists by using an irrelevant piece of evidence. There's some interesting comments here so I don't want to kill the post but maybe if you see my comment and this is still a top 10 story on the homepage consider downvoting?

The pharmaceutical industry benefits when kratom is banned because then they can sell more pharmaceuticals. They have no real plans to bring pharmaceutical kratom to market because they don't make money selling plant medicine.
Weed makes me more socially aware. When I smoke I realize how awkward I am when I am sober. by RedGreenG in Drugs
I have no current trusted source, our local herbal stores probably have it though.

It's a bit of a model for schizophrenia though, that sense of over simulating what others are thinking about you. I need to remember to smoke lotus with cannabis sometimes, lotus is the only pleasant dopamine antagonist I know of and it goes really nicely with cannabis.

Actually GSK never brought their mitragynine derivative to market because their drug was inferior to crude kratom extract and they couldn't figure out why.
Patents expire after 20 years so a 1963 patent doesn't mean anything. Patents also don't make claims of safety that mean anything for FDA scrutiny, so this patent wouldn't have proven to Gottlieb that kratom is safe.
The meaningful current kratom patent is effectively owned by Japan and covers all possible synthetic opiate derivatives of mitragynine. https://www.google.com/patents/US8648090?dq=7-hydroxymitragynine&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjb64nDuMHXAhXGsFQKHc4HBM8Q6AEIRjAE That patent is likely to expire before it can be brought to market.

I'm Richard Craib, founder of Numerai. AMA! by richardcraib in ethereum
[–]kevin143 3 points4 points5 points 7 months ago* (0 children)
Crypto markets with large founder premines or otherwise disproportionate stakes always seem to respond to controls on supply, it's a supply and demand calculation. So if you signal to the public that your Numeraire is locked, the asset will go up in price.
Ripple was probably the first big token to do this. https://www.coindesk.com/ripple-pledges-lock-14-billion-xrp-cryptocurrency/
In so much as your currency has way more supply than demand, this is the way to bring them into some vague approximation of equilibrium.
In a more idealized world, I want want NMR to also be a tokenized security that reflected ownership in your hedge fund but I understand why that isn't possible in the near future.

Since Thom's ex-partner passed three months ago, it's gotta be True Love Waits. The punchline being, that true love does not wait, because true love doesn't live... it dies. :(
Thom Yorke Awwww Shieeet by Bchinly in radiohead
What I think happened -- the first time it was looped, Thom sang but Johnny actually laid down the start and stop of the loop. Then for the second loop, Thom was laying it down, and then he went to stop on his board to stop it, and it wasn't there. "Aw sheeit", confusion, stage tech immediately brings out footboard from stage left, Thom and Johnny conference about what to do (wait for an entire cycle and make the loop twice as long?) and then they keep going but the "Aw Sheeit" kind of messes up Thom's timing. It was really funny there.
Have they ever played in big stadiums rather than arenas? Were they sold out? by Glosoli9 in radiohead

An arena is the venue where basketball or hockey is played, a stadium is where football or soccer or baseball is played. Stadiums can be 3 or 4x larger than arenas.
