Did you set DefaultLimitNOFILE=1048576 in your /etc/systemd/system.conf and /etc/systemd/user.conf?

Original Poster5 points · 14 hours ago

No I set it in /etc/security/limits.d/50-nofile.conf:

* soft nofile 1048576
* hard nofile 1048576

ulimit -n and ulimit -Hn both show 1048576.

I think rm - rf /* also works

Depends on distro.

I like OpenSUSE but I want to be able to use DXVK. Does the .run package work correctly and does It break with updates?

I'm playing World of Tanks on Arch using Lutris script with DXVK but I have a problem with audio. They audio is lagging but the worst this is that it pops loudly and the game mutes itself for a few seconds. The sound returns to normal until another pop.

I use GTX 1070 with Ryzen 1600. I tried ALSA and Pulseaudio but It's the same. WINE version also doesn't affect it.

Hm. I have not noticed any audio problems, so it's probably not general problem. Apart for the fact that it seems to refuse to run in fullscreen mode for me (amdgpu + RADV + DXVK) it runs well.

Sorry I can't be of assistance, but maybe someone else can if you give them more specifics on your setup?

I switched to Ubuntu from Arch and now It works. Thanks for looking!

I can confirm this bug. This bug occurred about 2 weeks ago after WoT micropatch. But I have another problem with this game, runs only with compiled wine-staging-pba. Wine and wine-staging from package not start.

Distro: Archlinux GPU: Nvidia Game run pretty well with DXVK

I switched to Ubuntu because Arch started annoying me and It works now.

You have TOR on Tails. It's even more secure than VPN. You lose a lot of speed in exchange.

I checked the company on wayback machine and found the address:

Wai Yip International USA

58 West Saddle River Road

Saddle River, New Jersey 07458 USA

Gparted Live isn't the best choice for first distro.

I have some problems with on the newest kernel and I wanted to check what you use.

What's the motherboard and 'newest kernel' that you are on?

I have B350M Bazooka from MSI. The only Kernel that worked correctly was LTS kernel. I downgraded my bios and It looks like It's working. I'm going to investigate more.

Don't worry, the video is without sound. Pulseaudio/Alsa hasn't broke yet.

It's just crackling silently.

Original Poster5 points · 9 days ago

You might want to check your computer because there's no sound in the video. I recommend making sure that the fans/hard drives are working properly.

It's a joke. Because Alsa laways breaks while crackling for me.

Old is complicated and looks like shit

New is too simple and still looks bad.

While true enough for RPCS3, I would avoid an RX 580 for an emulation PC due to AMD's poor performance in other emulators (namely CEMU).

It's only a problem with OpenGL. Vulkan works without problems and there are better drivers for OpenGL for Linux.

It is. I'm currently looking into installing an audio production-oriented distro on that device, probably Ubuntu Studio 18.04. I'm prokrastinating a bit, since I already have configured AV Linux somewhat, but it honestly kinda sucks as a general purpose distro.

My main rig runs Mint, mostly because I don't feel like wiping the install and re-downloading my entire steam library (steam backups weren't worth the hassle the last time I tried them).

Backing steam games is just copying one folder.

Can we stop reposting this joke?

I was actually contemplating if I should put the title in the image.

Normally one should realize this before a match starts, no? Or at least quit out so a bot will take over? I guess maybe they did and when they logged back in wrote out the message.

You sound like a teacher.

Thanks! Teachers are awesome. I don't think I have the full skillset required to be one, but I have a ton of respect for them so I appreciate that.

That's not what I meant. Most teachers say that you should've peed on a break when you want to go to the toilet during a lesson. I'm not telling teachers all teachers are like this but that's how most of them is.

It is a unique name because it contains the letter ‘x’ which is not a very common letter to be found in a name. It appears as if this name is a twist on the name Lennox, but parents wanted to make it just a little bit more unique.

If I ever make a new distro I would name it Lennox.

Why not make a Void live ISO with a different PS1 and call it Lennox? ;-)

I'll be doing LFS on Virtualbox when I stop being lazy and name it this.

Hmmm... Have you considered that your problems might not be universal?

It's an old joke from older days when drivers were old and not working.

I mean you should use WINE because compiling Proton is harder and doesn't bring any benefits for now.
