Anyone who has a 401k or any kind of investments like mutual funds benefit when the stock market goes up.

I know it's a joke and all, but it represents the lack of education people have about how investments work. I mostly blame high school for not teaching it, but people have to take some responsibility for their own ignorance as well.

No offense bro but you have completely confused the idea that people are uneducated with the fact that they don’t even have money in savings, much less Work a job that gives them any sort of retirement or investments.

I haven't confused anything, bro. Most people who don't have money in savings have only themselves to blame.

Here's a post I made earlier:

let's say you get a job at a fast food restaurant in Portland. It's not a cheap city to live in. Let's say you start at minimum wage but you get full time hours. Besides the fact that most employees that make it 6 months start getting raises -

Income after taxes: $756 per paycheck, $1512/month

Rent: $500/month with a roommate

Phone: $75/month

Monthly unlimited transit pass: $28/month

Food: $238.90/month

That covers off the basics - and what do we have left? $670/month. And that is at $12 an hour on one job, at the minimum wage, in one of the more expensive cities to live in.

No, I didn't include entertainment or having a car. Those are luxuries. You can get by on what I put here, and there is lots of entertainment for free. My point is that you can get by and even get ahead at the minimum.

Your idea of get by is extremely unrealistic in most cities in the US. While the math works out there isn’t a person at this income level that would do this and put money in for retirement. You’ve clearly never been impoverished.

My youngest just packed up and hauled ass out of there on her last day.

denmark population - 6 millionish

denmark population ethnically - at least 80% white.

1/6th of the population lives in one city. lol

its almost like denmark and the us are nothing fucking alike.

The best part of your argument is that even if it’s 100% true the woman is still a fool for making the comparison.

Please add another red guy before something terrible happens.

That’s marriage. It’s a realistic depiction of what relationships are. They’re hard, and stressful, and require dedication and sacrifice on both sides in order to be successful. Pam and Jim fought for their marriage though, and that’s what matters. To me their interactions and struggles in the final season were fulfilling, because they were real.

Not to mention there’s always that douche canoe with the “if they’re gonna cheat might as well be with you” mentality that always tries to justify going after men or women who are in a tough place emotionally.

So I recently binged the whole series for the first time.

I enjoyed every season, but the finale was lacking something for me, and I think it was Michael. Sure, he was there, but to me the show should have circled back on him. I wanted more than a couple of lines. His conversations with Jim and Pam when he left were perfect for the show.

Was there any specific reason he didn’t have more going on in the finale, or was it just the writing?

I didn't really mean it as an insult, you seem uninformed about the issue surrounding voter ID. But if you really care to hear my argument then ok here goes:

It would cut out all outside interference with the election

No it wouldn't. What do you imagine outside interference to actually be? A foreigner waltzing into a voting booth? A voter ID will do nothing to stop the bombardment of propaganda and fake news, it will do nothing to stop tried-and-true voter suppression tactics like purging voter registrations or reducing polling places. On the contrary, voter ID itself IS a form of voter suppression. In person voter fraud is a non-existent problem, which acts as a convenient excuse to look like the "good guy" while suppressing marginalized voters.

people will not be punished for accidentally

Yes they will, that's the entire point.

unknowingly voting illegally what was it that recently came out, over 170 people in Ohio voted that were over 116 years old, when the oldest living person is 115

What are you even talking about?

A voter ID, just makes sense

Maybe on the surface, but when you actually look into it it's just a shameless way to suppress votes while "solving" a nonexistent problem. I don't have a problem with the ID itself, but with the way it's implemented. Find a way to get all legitimate voters registered and with a free and easy ID and I'm ok with it, but when the collateral damage outweighs any potential benefits it's just not worth it.

Serious question: Why do you think asking for an ID disenfranchises voters? What about showing an ID within our current system makes it impossible for them to vote?

It's possible to fly without ID, fyi.

Movies just want a proof of age, and it's a private establishment so they can put restrictions if they want.

That said, I do think the "getting an ID to vote is too hard" argument is a bad one. If so, they should make it a lot easier to get an id - e.g. have a traveling band of id producers that asks people on the street if they want an id. Half kidding. :P

The thing that I never understood about the "getting an ID to vote is hard" crowd is that the we have four years to get an ID before the next presidential election. Two years otherwise.

Someone who can't accomplish getting a Driver's License in even 2 years has no desire to vote. That's just all there is to it.

It's so creepy to put your aunt into your profile pic on any website/app where you're just trying to get some fuck.

Also why would you put former firefighter and fucking Toyota salesman in there? This whole thing is so confusing.

Just a Pam looking for her Jim.

There are a bunch of girls who put this in their Tinder bio. Having a picture of you with Angela, not to mention being able to introduce a potential date to an actress from one of their favorite shows, makes perfect sense.

Nah these are things a lot of GOP voters believe. Or at least they are voting for people who are openly shouting these things. It got over 20k upvotes and hundreds of people who are saying they know people who believe this shit but go ahead and tell me it's a strawman argument.

Yo dude, this is literally the definition of a straw man. Right out of the book. You can disagree all you want because you believe the oversimplified points, but that doesn’t change the fact it is a logical fallacy.

-17 points · 3 days ago

First, yes it's trivial.

And no one orchestrated anything! Shit just happens. His roommate was a better partner for her. Period. There was no orchestration here, it's just how life is. Was she not supposed to ever break up with himb no matter what? Is she not supposed to pursue the best mate for herself?

Christ, my friends swapped partners all the time until now in our 30s we've all more or less settled on who we're going to be with permanently. This isn't an uncommon thing to happen with friend groups. And it doesn't mean people are evil or bad. Everyone is trying their best by everyone else without forgoing their own happiness.

Imagine spending every single day of your life with someone for a year and a half. Imagine telling them everything about yourself, what you’re thinking all the time, and opening up to them more than anyone else.

Now imagine they tell you they aren’t interested in doing that anymore, but you still have to see them every day.

Regardless of the situation, that isn’t trivial. It’s not possible for it to be.
