Currently finishing my Masters in MechE and hate it, but this is my last semester so I'm just pushing through it. Also lost my drive for engineering and just don't enjoy doing this anymore. And since the motivation is gone, the content now feels much more difficult to grasp. Frankly, I don't want to be a engineer, but for now I see myself working (I have a good job lined up) until I can support myself doing something I actually enjoy. You aren't alone. I'm just trying to keep my head up. PhD is definitely more rigorous so I can only imagine what you're going through.

I now work at Ford in Michigan and would have not gotten that job without the career fair. You just have to know where to look and plan ahead.

I'm looking for song recommendations for my max squat and deadlift attempts. The kind of stuff and that takes you to the next level when combined with the right pre workout. Not just your typical workout music, specifically "that" song that get's you in the zone. Thanks.

Here are some of my favorites in the past:

Thanks everyone! I'm always on search for new music.

Hell March from C&C. Went the guitar comes in, time to stop lifting those baby bitch weights and crush gravity.

I played C&C as a kid and can confirm this is dope. I personally like Hell March 2 best from Red Alert 2 best, but both are great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBOD8qeCBuc

I'm looking to rent a house with friends around asu and there are 5 of us so we are looking at 5 bedroom homes. Many agencies state the above ordinance in the description, but is it actually enforced? Looking for info of people that have dealt with this or gotten around it. I feel like "unrelated" and "living" can be a bit vague. I fell like some would turn a blind eye to it, but what about if we signed a lease, then they found out its actually 5 of us? Thanks. Also, I'm aware someone posted about this around a month ago. Just looking for additional info. Mainly people that have had an actual issue with it.

Curious as to what these are both like. Does the 491 lab usually take the full 1h50m and how often does the 434 lab meet? How are lab reports?

I believe they have changed a few things since I took 491. I think the first few lab reports will be a group effort, and the rest will be individual. Apparently, there is also a final for 491. The first few labs shouldn't take the whole time. The last three definitely will. Of course, all of this information is when I took the class Spring of 2015. Personally, I did not have much fun in this class. I don't care much for writing. I was able to expand my knowledge in Heat Transfer, Fluids, and Thermo. Oh, and don't wait till the night before to start writing the lab report, you will not finish.

As for 434, we kinda only met five times during the entire semester. We should have had more, but ASU could not get critical components to the dyno fixed. We only had one Lab report which we needed to detail the any issues we had during disassembly and reassembly of a little 7.5HP Briggs and Stratton engines.

Edit: I don't know how 434 will go since I think Dr. Trimble will be retiring here soon.

Thanks!

Nice website, but can't login with facebook therefore can't post a review.

How was 482? I just took 340. I'm not taking it next semester, I'm just curious.

Looking for opinions on Bolukbasi for MAE 400 (or any class). His ratemyprofessor doesn't have much info. Thanks

Oswald and Yekani Fard are both good, stay far far away from Haolin Zhu. Never heard of Hyunglae Lee.

Can confirm. Fard is good.

I've barely dabbled in coding so far. I've always been good with math and have had an attraction to coding and computers in general since I was very young. I just never knew where I could begin to accumulate the necessary knowledge, let alone where to start. Any pointers?

Codecademy.com is a great resource

Mechanical here,

You have a good shot at both Barrett & Engineering here. Your SAT makes up for your GPA significantly. Overall, I'm very happy with ME with the exception of a few professors (Haywood). I'm in Barrett too and I'd say I'm indifferent to it. I don't feel like I'm getting much out of it. The only thing I like is that I'm surrounded by other smart people, not the program itself. Good luck to you.

6-8 pm is pretty bad in the weight room

Buy this. Highly recommend. Idk why they are so cheap, but I along with many other friends bought them and they are far more powerful than the 89. I'm a MechE btw. Trust me you won't regret it. It's not even 20 bucks and they look like they are brand new.

I'm selling the book if you want it

Definitely doable, but know many of your credits wont count for anything with engineering. Pre-reqs are usually the reason it takes 3.5- 4 years. Btw there is a good chance you will end up switching out of BME. Attrition rate of around 50%...I switched to mechanical. Any business major will be a breeze compared to any engineering so go for the double major and enjoy the econ classes because they make your schedule easier. Many of the BME advisers suck, but I know Jessica Kingston is helpful.

I had Liao and never used the book. His power points on Blackboard had everything. You can find a pdf if you search online though. Not sure if i torrented it or not though.

To my understanding there is a Barbell Club. Mostly Crossfitters though.

I got one in lot 59 during the spring so they didn't sell out, but don't wait until the last minute.

I'm selling the 12th Edition of the book and solution manual for mastering chem if you're interested. The current edition is 13 i believe but it's the exact same shit. Then just buy mastering chem separately.

with above a 3.0 you have a decent chance

MAE 215, Intro to MATLAB w/ Haywood

While this class can be pretty useful and is quite easy, I wouldn't say going to a once a week lecture with 100 students is fun. Its a good class if it relates to your major/interests but otherwise I wouldn't recommend taking it.

It was a joke considering how terrible Haywood is. 1.6/5 http://www.ratemyprofessors.com/ShowRatings.jsp?tid=868485
