First off, are you showing as connected to the same network when you turn on the roku? I've had issues where the Roku didn't reconnect to the wireless, and so the IP method doesn't work.

If your Roku is connected, there's two ways to go about finding the IP address.

The first is less technical but probably takes longer. Find your phone's IP address (for Android, something like Settings - About Phone - Status). If it's something like 192.168.0.101, then you can try an IP address of 192.168.0.102, 192.186.0.103 , etc. and see if you stumble upon it.

The more complex way is to connect to your router and has a lot of different paths and "maybes". If your phone's wifi IP is 192.168.0.101 for example, your router address is probably 192.168.0.1 . You should be able to connect and log in with a browser, provided you know the password. Once in there, there should be a status page (might be for wifi alone, might be network status in general). There will be a list of IPs on your network, sometimes with a name and/or MAC address. If you don't see a name that looks familiar, try clicking on MAC addresses, which will likely bring a lookup page to tell you what type of device it is- for example, Result for OID 88:DE:A9 is Roku, Inc., which means that IP is a Roku device.

Otherwise, you may have to buy an IR remote. Depending on the device, there's some cheap ones (my stick and kids' Roku Express+ had a yellow "kids version" replacement remote for $8 on Amazon).

Lots of answers online but things chance so often that it's hard to find relevant answers.

I just refreshed my PC; prior to doing so, I had Steam installed in program files and steamapps folder in c:\games.

I know you can add a library to a different drive by choosing to add it from the install dropdown.. However, I don't have the option for c:\ because it chooses the default Steam installation folder in \Program Files (x86).

I could probably save reinstalling by making a symlink to the existing folder, but it did show up as c:\games before, and I feel like I'm not finding a 'libraries' settings page somewhere where I could set my d:\ library to default, remove progfiles\steam , and then add a library on c:\ to put it to games.

Am I just mis-remembering? I know it's been said before, but this lack of customization is such a pain.

I don't have access to Steam right now to check, but I think you right click one of the libraries and you have an option to make that one default.

Also, check this post in the Steam forums about creating an additional Steam library on the same partition:

As soon as I saw libraryfolders.vdf , I recognized that as what I'd done last time. Thanks for the reminder.

While the game isn't exactly optimized, this seems likely to be an issue with your system. Many things like web browsers, Steam, etc., use hardware graphics acceleration/memory to reduce other resource use. If something isn't "letting go" or uses a bigger chunk than is available, it can start to have an impact on settings elsewhere.

Make sure everything is up-to-date- browser, OS, graphics driver, etc. If on Win10, maybe disable the Game Bar. Or, un in Windowed mode; while it usually decreases overall performance, it's not adding in new resources the same way as alt-tabbing out of and back into a fullscreen app.

There's three possibilities:

  1. Amazon may have a Roku app on their appstore (unkown); this is probably easiest.
  2. You can install the Google Play Store and associated services on the tablet to have access to the Android Roku app.
  3. You can use their Silk web browser to access online remotes like remoku.tv .

Some older Roku devices don't support this feature. iOS devices also have some limitations, listed on the FAQ page

I've also run into a network setup where some devices were on my 5.8gHz network, and they could not cast to Rokus connected on my 2.4gHz network. I don't remember if/what fixed this, though.

Have a Roku Express and an Express+ on two separate TVs. Both, within the last week or two, have had an issue where they show the Roku splash screen properly, and then the TV blinks and reports no signal.

I do run both off USB power from the TV; remove the power and reboot and things work fine.

This has happened both with set resolution of 1080p (inputs handle it) or auto-detect. Multiple inputs on one TV; the other only has one 1080p-capable input so can't try another.

Just a bad software update or something else going on? Express is about 2 months old, Express+ is about 9... seems like a strange coincidence.

Thanks- must not have been in my inbox like I thought or reply there posted a public comment instead of a private response.

I can't even count how many times I've watched the episode, either fully awake or as I'm falling asleep... but just realized last night, in None Like It Hot! when they mentioned the cure for global warming they started in 2063, this is shortly after Halley's Comet made its next reappearance around earth.

Brain breadcrumbs had led from remembering seeing Halley's Comet back in 1986, and doing the math, realized that was just about when it would make its next pass. Back in 2002 or so when it first aired, that just seemed like "way in the future".

If there's multiple inputs, try using a different one. Not all TVs use same resolution on all inputs, so if the Roku wasn't set to auto-detect resolution, try resetting it- there should be a paperclip-sized hole near the inputs in the back panel of the Roku you can press in for a second or two to reset it to defaults.

No, it's fine. Posts on reddit are indexed by Google, so people who search for the site will see this post.

These sites exist because there's lots of people that won't bother to do this, though. :/

For some reason, Suicide Kings comes to mind; I don't remember it being action-heavy, but it's been a while so I may be mis-remembering.

Check out Kevin Smith's Clerks if you wanna chortle. Very vulgar film, super dialogue intensive. If you can get past the scene dealing with the number 37 and you're not amused, you can quit.

In a row?

I think most of the View Askewniverse movies are pretty good for dialog over action. Though I guess you don't get the full effect of Dgoma.

It's a mix of enough to do (crafting and goals to craft items and get levels) and near mindlessness to do it. No real stress.

I guess it varies from state to state but Medicaid typically does cover once-yearly purchase of some (basic) frames and lenses, though it doesn't always cover extra options (like the UV coating). Is there a deductible you haven't reached yet?

Two other suggestions-

1) Let the eyeglass place know you're not being approved. While the lenses are all done by one company and there's not much wiggle room, frames are dirt cheap and a majority is markup that can be removed/cut.

2) Dept. of Vocational Rehabilittation offices can give grants for equipment and other necessities for working- this includes eyeglasses.

Maybe Settings > Audio > Disable audio while in background. If you have the ability to set/check your audio output device in Discord, maybe see if that can be set to something different

As an alternative, see if there's similar issues with using the discord web app? That may at least narrow it down to either the app (if no issues) or sound/network conflict of some sort.

Most people listen to podcasts on their phone or laptop with lousy speakers or cheap headphones so they probably won't be able to tell good compression from bad. I'd say having good ideas, structure and public speaking skills are far more important for a beginner.

There's a line to walk. I won't listen to your podcast, even if interested in you and the subject, if it sounds like you're recording it from inside your toilet.

Good point about the subjectivity. Maybe you could make a stickied post that links to the FAQ, for the mobile users? They have that on other subreddits.

A separate stickied "Surveys and Projects here!" thread might help that way. I have a feeling someone seeing the stickied "How do blind people use Reddit?" thread might not think/realize there's more information and links there that might apply to their project.

I think something should be done about them. I come on here to read about other blind people's experiences, not help people with their homework for free. I like the idea of a weekly thread.

I don't sub or visit here regularly any more for that reason. Half of the posts looking for help for a class or is this a good idea for the nextest bestest smart cane / braille replacement / etc. just got too plentiful and annoying.

At the very least, having flair and sidebar filtered options would be nice; however, this doesn't guarantee every(any)one would use it. I also don't know how this works with mobile, so may not be as useful as for desktop users.

What's brown and sticky?

A stick.

It won't help now with maintenance underway, but I'd try getting rid of one of the two installations just to save confusion.

Also, deleting the cache folders sometimes helps. Fully quit the game and delete the folder at \users\username\appdata\roaming\trove\shadercache . You'll have to update but won't be able to do so until the new patch is in place anyway.

Any free-to-play game is automatically P2W; that's just how the internet works.

I also wonder how exactly you win at this game? I guess maybe some PVP events but outside of that...?

There's ... some flexibility with building but it's definitely not as free as Minecraft creative.

You have a semi-limited space (something like 15x15 across, but a lot more height/depth) to construct for your own little personal area/home. Some things (basic like primal color blocks and some other stuff like jump pads, etc) can be built right away, but most (other types of block like metallic/glass). Almost everything requires being built from materials, so it's not an infinite resource like creative mode.

It's mostly like Minecraft adventure mode with minor ARPG elements, several classes with slightly different playstyles to collect and improve loot to do bigger and better dungeons.

The end sounds like it gets repetitive, but it's a nice middle step between Minecraft and Diablo that doesn't require a lot of complex thought until then. I'm not quite at the shadow tower grind yet but feel it a bit, but still enjoying it so far.

Western biome and the Dragonfire one are both pretty plentiful. The Waypoints Edition mod also helps make it a lot easier to just ride around with a mount to collect.

What left us unsatisfied is that the mobs and dungeon seems to easy. Like really too easy, I could literally let the boss hit me and my passive healing was too high for it to kill me. I would like to know if it gets more challenging, or remain forever a walk in the park.

It took me a little to realize the same- picking a different starting world also influences the level of difficulty. Look at the level/power ranking required on the bottom of the world explanation when picking an area in the Hub. You can get to Medieval Highlands straight from the first portal, but you can get there with higher-level mobs in the Neon City or other worlds, too. There's a bit of a ramp/change in char development around Uber-4 or so (the Jurassic worlds), but it's mostly the same.

I don't expect to have a lot of long-term fun or big change in the end game, but so far I'm enjoying the fact it's somewhat lighter/more simplistic than something like Diablo, so that's worth it while the feeling sticks around. When it gets tiresome, it's not going to be X weeks/months of wasted time, it was something that filled that void for those X weeks/months before moving on to something else.

I've gotten a few chars to around lvl 20, PR 800 to 1000... and then it seems like progression just falls off. Can reach U-5 worlds and they seem a bit rough, U-4 seems okay... but doesn't seem like there's a lot to do except hope for better shadow drops.

Are there alternative things to do or worlds to go to that are a better idea, or is it just where the grind starts to really show?

You're very much early game and you haven't really hit any grind yet, the true grind in this game (the gems) are largely time-gated, if you're at 800-1000 PR you clearly haven't gotten any gems yet, so my suggestion for you is to find someone to carry you through shadow tower last boss (Daughter of the moon) and spend the Lunar souls you get on empowered gem boxes, getting to 2500 PR will open up hard mode version where you can get more boxes, that should be your priority right now. You can only get Lunar souls this way once per week.

I'd also recommend farming some flux (mining/gathering or however u like) to buy Stellar gear from other players for a huge boost in PR. (/join trade)

I'd been saving most of my gem boxes waiting/thinking they'd be more useful at higher levels. Have tossed in some alright gems and a few empowered ones to get things going and can see how much difference it's making now.

How much of a factor is min level? Shadow items I'm still getting are usually min level 10 even now; do they increase (with higher base stats) or is it just a way to prevent rolling with even more bonuses on a fresh lvl 1?

It became about you when you decided to end your rebuttle with baseless claims that didn't back up your claims. In my language we call that "beating around the bush".
